It appears to have a spruce top with a laminate rosewood back and sides. It's a concert sized guitar which was I bought this, a bit heavy for a guitar this size. Saw it on EBay and though a concert sized Gretsch would be cool. All gold hardware, I think mine is a 2003 made in Korea.

Sound : 6
Being a guitar manufactured from mostly laminate woods, part of the sound gets eaten alive right out of the gate. The high E and the B strings "ring" while the Low E and A just don't have any energy. I use this guitar when I'm headed to a living room jam where I'm going to be playing a lot of Rhythm guitar with that occasional zinger lead run.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Bought it used, so as with most of my guitars, I lowered the action, plays fast. The gold plated tuning keys are Gretsch made and are of average quality at best...everything else was ok.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Yeah it's a dependable little workhorse, solidly built... but not a lot of depth to the sound. I might call someone out of the crowd to play and hand them this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to call the Gretsch people, so I don't know.

Overall Rating : 6
Been playing for almost 35 years. Had this set up for slide at one time, did that for a while and the guitar just never found a "Delta Voice". So now it's just a Gretsch that sits on the rack and gets some intermittent attention....now and then. I could live without it.

2003, Historic series, the Grand Concert Acoustic/electric with very fine piezzo Fishman electronics, 20 frets, 6 strings, acoustic with cutaway. Nice lookind and sounding V holeshaped pickguard "the traditions of the 1930s". Classy yellowish finih on top, cedar and nice dark rosewood on side and bottom, solid maple neck. Small guitar, full tone with less volume and size than a dreadnought or jumbo model (just 15" wide). It's perfect for use of composition because of it's size but will sound very full and nice amplified and this, with very little feedback.

Sound : 8
Cannot compare to high price Martin but will compare to any cutaway guitar. String 2 and 3 sing's with a deep mellow sound, stands comparaison with high price Martin guitar. First sharp bright but well balance with 2-3 better then Fender-Yamaha and other guitar of the same price range. Strings 4-5-6 are OK balance good bass is OK but there you would find weekness even in high price quitar because of that cutaway. I was about to buy higher price Tacoma but it's better price-sound quality.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Original setup with dull strings flat and much to high tension to my taste... Definitively fun to play with Elixir strings ligth polyweb coating. Action is great feels like my Gibson Howard Roberts electric.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It's new...

No idea yet.

I am 48 years old, playing since I was young, mainly classical and modern jazz. I loved the sound, the feel and the look of that instrument. Electronic sound is graet true my Roland acoustic chorus 100. I played a long time on a 10 000$ Hopf hand made classical guitar. Sound could never compare to that but it's surely much more fun to play !
