This is a rare one indeed. Officially Gretsch calls it a "Sun Valley"..or a G6010. Solid spruce top with a nice satin finish. A Dreadnought from the git go. Gold hardware with a very thin neck, this plays just like an electric. This is a 1991 model manufactured for one year only in Japan and the craftsmanship is flawless. No electronics, but no need in a big room, this has that Martin like brilliance to it. Rosewood back and sides, Set maple neck with a rosewood finger board with triagular inlay on the fretboard.

This is a great lead instrument, the sound is more bright than full and really shines on the high end. I like the variety because it is not a Booming guitar on the bass end. In a living room setting, you are right at home either playing lead in an attack style or easing off and playing some soft background rythym to accompany a nice voice.

When I buy guitars, one of the first things I check is the neck. Since this is 16 years old and I didn't purchase this new, I can't speak for the factory set-up, but the neck is straight and true now and I've been over this thing with a fine tooth comb...and it is close to perfect. I'd love to hear from another owner of this model.

This is not set up with electronics and because of it's rarity and perfect condition, I'd like to keep it this way and keep it in my Living room. It stays in tune and really sings. I'd say, given that it hardly leaves my living room , I should get at least another 16 years out of it.

Once again ..I bought this used, so I think any reasonable Help from Gretsch would be a pipe dream.

I've been playing for about 35 years now and have owned a lot of guitars. Currently... I also own a Gibson LC-1 Cascade acoustic and a Guild D-25 from Westerly R.I. All 3 have different personalities and I love them all. If the Gretsch were lost or stolen, I would love to obtain another, but they are rare.

Bright mid-high end with a lot of punch. The bass side of this Guitar is soft, far from boomy, but not brassy enough to match the high end. I love the thin neck and the look and feel.

This Guitar is collectable, sounds good and will only continue to age gracefully with the proper care. So I play it everyday, but it doesn't leave the living Room.

This is a 1991 model, so your guess is as good as mine. If the Guitar needs more than I can do, I'll take it to my luthier.

I've been playing for 34 years and also own a 1999 Guild D-25 (Which is set up for slide) and feel both Guitars have the Vibe I want. The Sun Valley is an interesting Guitar for a Gretsch. I had looked for one for years and when the opportunity arose. BUY! Triangular Soundhole as well...
