Got CE-100 used from 'guitar center'. Looks like it was buit around 1995. Twin dual coil pu-s-not stock, gibson clones of some sort-marked 'vitage bass' and 'FS-1',whatever that means, with exposed coils in black. They're good quality and look great too. As a side note, Gibson pu rings are a slightly different size than guilds' rings, and swapping them out will mean you have to drill some new holes to make everything fit right.

This guitar is about the same size as a gibson ES-175, with a laminated maple neck, plywood body and rosewood f-board. Nice 'antique' i.e. 2-tone tobacco sunburst.-reminds me of an old gibson 'charlie christian.' First thing I did was swap out the guild tailpeice for a gibson style trapeze unit, and I got rid of the awkward-looking guild pickguard. Also, I put gibson-style speed knobs on-those guild knobs with the little 'G' in the center will embarass you!

The guitar is nice and heavy-typical of most guilds I've used. The weight gives the sound nice body, so there is no need for an internal sound block under the bridge. The neck alone probobly has as much wood in it as many solid body guitars.

Great deal-at about 1/4 price of a used gibson ES-175 (in comperable condition), these guitars are just great. Fit and finish are as good as anything I've seen. Great feel and playability. Switches and pots are all top quality (unlike what we often find on guitars from korea or the asian pacific). 'Real' american hard rock maple plywood. This guitar should please the working professional or serious amatuer.

Tone is great, and I use it for all types of music from fingerpicking to blues rock to jazz. It's equally good for rhythm work and lead work. I usually play les pauls and strats, and this is a nice change. It may become my all-around guitar because it has a really great feel

Negative criticisms: Slightly awkward looking 'oversized' peghead-though it no doubt contributes to tone and sustain due to weight. Also, knobs, pickguard and tailpiece look out of place. I think they were attempting to make the guitar look 'modern' back in 1972.
