Sound : 10
This guitar has the most punch of any accoustic/electric I tried (Taylor, Larivee, Gibson, when in the non-electric mode. The rosewood back and side provide rich mid tones and mellow notes. Basicallu play pop, flok and blues. I previously owned Fender Grand Auditorium and an older Martin D35 (non-electric) which were mute compared to this Guild.
The arched back provides good sound projection and excellent sustain
When plugged into Marshall amp, the sound is rich, no feedback, with enough mids and not too mcuh brightness.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Top and back beautifully bookmatched, just a little varnish problem around the frets, and the retailer provided a free setup, so the guitar was in great playing shape. The finish on the guitar was exceptional

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Guilds reputation for reliability and sturdiness is certainly evident on this guitar. There is no front strap button but I mostly play sitting on stools. I truly feel confident in the craftmanship of this guitar and see no reason for a backup

Customer Support : 10
There has been no reason to contact the company, my retailer has taken great care of all my needs and questions. Diplomat Musique in Montreal, have been a long time Guild retailer, and know their product and as a family owned company, they know what real service is all about.

Overall Rating : 10
I have played on and off for 30 years, and now spend more time playin. I don't play gigs anymore, just on my own, and own a Guild Bluesbird AAA, and a Marshall amp, which I will be changing for a Fender Princeton Chorus (if I can find one, now that Fender has discontinued them.)
I wish this Guild DCE5 had a solid rosewood back, to see if there would be any difference in the sound, and a strap button close to the heel of the neck. This Guild is no longer manufactured since the FEnder take-over and move to California. This model has been replaced by a D40CE (which has the solid SPruce top and solid rosewood back and sides) and they do have the same exclelent sound projection and sustain. If you want an acoustic electric that plays as well and loud unplugged ans plugged then Guild is the choice.
