Hand-rubbed satin dreadnought; standard grover tuners; 20 frets. Made in Westerly, RI. in 1998. Two piece spruce top; mahogony sides & back. The most gorgeous plain jane 12 I've ever laid eyes on. I own four other twelve stringers; a 1985 CF Martin Shenandoah; 2006 Martin D12X1, Epiphone FT 160 12 Texan, and 1999 Guild JF-30 12. Also 1999 Taylor 314 MCE; Guild Corona D-25 and Yamaha FG 340 II. They are all special for their own reasons. I love acoustic guitars; I love this one perhaps best of all...
Sound

I fingerpick & light strum easy rock, country and some folk. My maple-body Guild JF-30 12 is deeper, richer & obviously louder, but is much heavier, and for my small hands, more difficult to play. This guitar fits my hands, my style and my expectations. It is crystal clear yet does not drown out my vocals. When I choose a twelve, it is usually this hand-rubbed beauty.

Perfectly set up. Low action, no buzz, easy to play...No flaws; absolutely none...

I've never had a reliability problem with a Guild guitar. (My Taylor lives at the Luthier). Guilds are built well and as a twelve with with dual truss rods, the neck should be no problem. Although I have several 12s, I'd trust this one explicitly as my only one available during gig...
Customer Support
:No Opinion
I've never dealt with Guild's customer support. Since Fender has owned Guild since the mid 90s, I'd be forced to use their customer support. I exclusively prefer my own luthier for setups and repairs. He's good and he knows what I like.

I've played off and on since 1967. As previously mentioned, I own many other guitars. This is the only guitar I have personally rated; I do so because it deserves praise.

This thing has to be one of the loudest guitars ever divised it projects and some, very amazing it sounds amplified.I also own a Guild JF30, D25M, B30E,Gibson 160E and a Sigma 12 string and it sounds as good or better then the lot.For the price these guitars are a rock solid value.

This guitar is a twelve string dreadnaught with a solid spruce top and mahogany sides, back and neck. The fretboard is rosewood with mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and has twenty frets. It has standard grover tuners and a rosewood saddle. The body is nicely bound. it has a hand-rubbed natural satin finsh. That probably was what first attracted me to this guitar - more on this later. Beyond that, this is a pretty plain guitar, feature-wise. That's fine by me - the only things I would have changed are the inlays (abalone block would have been better) and the logo (inlaid rather than decal). Take one point for each of those.
Sound

I love the way this guitar sounds. Most 12 strings that I have played have a twang that overpowers the base. That is not the case with this one. It has such a rich sound - like two acoustics at the same time. I play a lot of unaccompanied folksy, singer/songwriter type stuff, and this guitar is perfect. I also get down with the blues, and this guitar just doesn't disappoint. There's a fair amount of variation in the sound for an acoustic, depending on your attack. I love this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
Action - I have played a lot of twelves made by a lot of prominent manufacturers (martin, takamine, taylor, ovation, etc.), and none have action to compare with this. It is the most emminently playable 12-string I have played. Everyone who has played it has felt the same way.
Fit - everything fits right. It is a big guitar, but that's to be expected from a guitar with such big sound.
Finish - I mentioned that this is what first attracted me to this guitar. It is smooth as hell. I have always had a preference for the satin finish. It's more natural - some of the gloss finishes look downright tacky. I also believe that the satin finish makes the sound richer. The only guitar that I have played with a sound as rich as this was a similarly finished martin.
On the downside, there was a blemish on the side where it looks like a prospective buyer bumped it against the guitar next to it before I found it. Punk.

This guitar is super live. It has a big enough sound that for most gigs I don't need to mike it (I'm not that successful). The hardware is all solid, and the finish is fine. It requires a fair amount of attention, but that's the nature of the satin finish. I can depend on it, but I always gig with a backup in case a string breaks or what ever.
The one problem I am running into is the bridge is starting to separate ever so slightly from the top. It appears to be jsu a matter of the glue not being spread evenly. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but that should be a fairly easy fix.

I will be testing this out when I get around to fixing the bridge. So far, however, I have had no contact with Guild (fender now).

I have been playing for 11 years, and own an Aria SG copy and a fender Princeton amp. The only things I asked were: Do I like the feel of this guitar? and Do I like the sound of this guitar? And I think those were the only questions I needed. If this were stolen, I'd call my insurance agent and immediately replace it with the same thing if I could, or a Martin satin finish 12 if I couldn't. I love the way this guitar sounds, feels, and looks. I hate the fact that there isn't more time in the day so I can play it more. I compared it with all twelves I could find, ranging from $300-$3200, including Martins, Ovations (echh!), Mitchells, Takamines, and Taylors. I chose the Guild because it had the best sound, was the most playable, and was relatively inexpenseive. Every time I play this baby, I just get all warm inside. I hope, for the sake of others, that they start making these again. If all twelves were this good, no one would play six string acoustics anymore.
