Guitar was made after 1999 according to the serial number. Solid spruce top, laminated mahogany back and sides.Arched back.Fishman active pickup. The guitar came with a Guild hardshell case. The guiar is loaded for the price that I gave for it(atleast I think it is).I get a lot of comments on how beautiful the guitar is.

Sound : 10
This guitar is the best sounding that I have ever played!I get a lot of comments on how beatiful it sounds. It has a rich full sound with a lot of sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on this guitar is the best of any that I hve owned. It plays easily and fast.Barred chords are easily played yet the action is not so low that finger picking souds clanky. The guitar is as easy on the eyes as it is to play.Though not to fancy the finish and the wood used to build this guitar combine for a great look.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have only owned this gitar for five months but I play it every day.So far it has held up very well. The action still feels the same as it did the day that I got it.The only complaint I have is with the finish on th body of the guitar.I am having a difficult time keeping it polished and shiny where the guitar rests under my right arm.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not had a reason to contact them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing almost four years and have owned several guitars.I still have a 1985 Takamine F-349 all mohogany and an Alverez FD-60 all maple.I like the guild more than either of those two and would'nt trade it for five of each of them.I had been looking at entry level Martin's and a Taylor and I think for the money I got as good a guitar if not better. If my Guild were stolen I'd squll like a baby and then I'd try to find another one just like it.

98 USA
Solid Spruce Top , mahogany laminate back and sides with a rounded back for fuller sound. Natural finish
brilliance, treble mid and bass controls. notch and volume. Fishman pickup.
Dreadnought cutaway

Has all the features I would want in an acoustic electric. The way the battery changes is nice. Stays in tune. Neck feels good to play and the cutaway is useful for what I do.

Sound : 10
I play worship music for church and it fits that wonderfully. Has a really good bass sound and is full of volume for those situations where there isn't an amp or PA to plug into. The treble and mid are good but its more of a bassy sounding guitar. Very full and rich and you can hear all the different notes clearly. Very alive, not dead sounding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action is a bit high. Many of my friends find it hard to play because the action is high and I use medium strings, but I like it because it feels like its a more powerful sound. Otherwise everything else is really good. The frets are all pretty much in tune as far as I can tell. I really can't find much wrong with it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've banged this around a bit, but its survived. Solid very well made guitar. Doesn't look like anything is about to come apart.

Never dealt with Guild, never had to.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing guitar for 9 years, I own a Hamer SATF electric guitar and a Vox Pathfinder 15R ministack. I also have a Yamaha Eterna I bought from Costco as my first guitar. This guitar definitely sounds a lot better than my first guitar although I mainly purchased this guitar in order to plug it into a PA at church. I think this guitar definitely compares well to similarly priced Martins and Taylors. I personally think this guitar sounds better than Taylors unless you buy a 500 series or above. The only thing about this guitar is the action is a bit high. If it were stolen, I'd cry and then I'd buy the same guitar again (if I had the money).

1996 True American Made in USA
Fishman Transducer
Grover tuners.

the guitar suits everything that I do. rock, blues,
Great sound acoustic and electric.( although there are newer
pickups out there that a better response)
Sometimes the sound can be too eletctric,
running straight thru a PA.
Looking for a acoustic guitar amp. either carvin or Fender.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
great action, although I had some problems in the early stages.
The guitar has aged and the action is cool.
might need some fret dressing.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Very reliable.
using it for gigging now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with Guild.

Overall Rating : 8
the only problem I have is changing the battery.
Guild did not produce the easy-change battery section in 96.
REALLY A PAIN IN THE ASS!
That being said, it is a great acoutic-electric guitar!
would have to replace if stolen!

This is a 1999 number, natural finish, solid spruce top, laminated mahogany sides, arched mahogany back, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, gold Grover tuners. It has a Fishman under-saddle transducer with on-board pre-amp and stuff, all the controls (volume, bass, treble, mid, etc, you know). It's a dreadnaught with a cutaway (Dreadnaught Cutaway Electric - 1). Satin finish.

Why do I have to list all that? Sheesh. If you're reading this, hopefully you already know about the guitar.

Anyway, it's fine. No complaints, so I guess I have no reason not to give it a 10 here. I can't think of anything else that could be add.

Sound : 8
Unplugged--Great volume, bright sound, wonderful balance, powerful bass, punchy mid, clear treble. No complaints here at all. It's the best sounding acoustic/electric I've ever met. It's probably comparable to Martin's DM, which is another solid top, laminate back and sides guitar. Works well for blues, fingerpicking, strumming, anything I'd need. It's kind of a jack of all trades guitar (but master of none).

Plugged in, it sounds as good as any bridge transducer guitar I've ever heard. That is, to a trained ear, it is obviously plugged in. But as far as bridge transducers go (kinda that rubberband sound), it's the best.

You can't go wrong with Guild, no matter what you buy. I've owned enough of them, I should know. They make a sweet number, and this particular one sounds great, as do all DCE-1's I've played (including the high gloss version).

Again, because it is a jack of all trades and master of none, it gets an 8.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action wasn't bad from the factory, but it was a pit high. That's to be expected. I've had it lowered, put on mediums, and it's marvelous, very playable. The pickup was fine, everything was fine, and there were no flaws.

Guilds are quality. 10 here, because nothing was wrong. I was so excited with this guitar when I got it (it was my first good guitar, 2 years ago). Everyone comments on how pretty it is. I have since painted the top with some lightweight stuff and removed the pickguard. :-) It's unique now, but different.

So, based on the fact that nothing was wrong with it (just needed to lower the action), it gets a 10.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is an absolute tank, trust me. I've dropped it and everything else, and it's fine. Guild makes an incredibly sturdy guitar. They are also heavy things, but somehow they still sound wonderful.

When it comes to durability, you absolutely can't go wrong with a Guild. Very heartfelt 10 here.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Again, this was the first good guitar I ever got, and I could not have made a better choice (unless I got, say, the high-gloss with a red finish or something, but that's personal taste). It is sturdy, versatile, great-sounding, easy-playing, etc etc etc.

As far as value for the money, Guild is the best you will find. They are right up there with Gibson, Martin and Taylor (trust me, I've played everything), and they are cheaper and sturdier. They maybe don't have the cool buzz factor that a Gibson has for rock or a Martin has for bluegrass... And I guess when you get into specialization, you may want to explore more options. But if you're just looking for a really GOOD guitar, Guild is it. Play one and find out.
