Sixties Harmony Sovereign OM style body. The woods are solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck. Very nice selection of wood, similar to much better guitars. 25" scale. Ladder bracing top and back which lends itself to bellied tops, which this one had big time. These also almost always need a neck reset as they are lightly built. This level of Harmony guitar is a unique combination of high quality woods and construction and low quality features. Tuners are horrible and intonation is fairly good but not exact. They sound good, better than most guitars, but not at the level of a nice Martin or Larrivee. They always need work but are at reasonable prices.

It sounds nice. Fairly loud with good tone, just not over the edge, but acceptable. Definately get a bit more than you pay for in this category.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action is usually high with need of a neckset. If the neck has a trussrod you will be ok with the neck. Wood selection is very good on Sovereigns. Bracing looks like swampwood. Finished nice with lacquer.

They are still around after all these years, but expect them to need work.

Good luck. Harmony has ceased to exist except in name.

Good old guitars with limitations noted above. I like them, but if you are looking for a boutique guitar, then look elsewhere. Harmony built guitars for 'the people' in a time when people weren't as picky. If that sounds like you , then you will be happy.
