This is a Hohner DL500CE Lacewood Dreadnought acoustic/electric guitar. It has chrome Grover tuners which is great. I dont know the scale but it feels like a regular dreadnought joined at the 14th fret. It was made in Indonesia i think this year the guy at the store told me that it is new. It does have a Fishman Classic 4T with a tuner onboard. I think that the guitar is laminated i cant imagine something this pretty would be so inexpensive if it was solid.

Sound : 10
This sounds so much better than my old Epiphone. It is very crisp and rings out real well. The store had a DR500 which had a slightly more mellow tone but that was spruce and I really wanted something that would look great on stage... I know.... vanity.... but it sounds good too so I dont feel that I am cheating myself. I play more jamband sort of stuff and this guitar definitely can handle the acoustic jams. I played it out a few times and the preamp sounds great. I haven't had a problem with feedback or anything.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I don't know how this was set up from the factory because i bought it off the wall at a store. They take good care of their instruments and everything was set up well. I cant see anything wrong with the finish or the top. The lacewood looks great. If you have'nt seen this guitar or lacewood you need to. It almost looks like snakeskin.

Reliability/Durability : 8
So far it has done real well. I've played it out 3 times now and not had anything major pop up. I broke a string but I dont hold that against the guitar. I always bring a backup to a gig but so far i havent had to use it. I killed the battery though because I left the cord in the input, see below for that fiasco..

Customer Support : 9
Well I did have one issue. There hasn't been a place for me to talk about it yet. When changing the battery I wasn't able to fully close the preamp again. I got one side closed and was able to play the gig. I emailed Hohner and got a response back in about a day. This seems to be an issue. They told me the cable that hooks the preamp to the pickup is too long and is getting bound up when the preamp is going back into place. They suggested that I take it into the place that I purchased it from, have them unscrew the preamp and cinch up about 1 1/2 inches of cable with a wire tie. They said this would fall under warranty work and I wouldnt have to pay for it. I didnt want to drive. I had a sandwich bag tie and a screw driver and fixed the problem in less than 5 min. It sucked that it happened but they ponied up to the problem and offered to fix it. That goes a long way in my book. The rating woudl have been a 10 if i got the email that day but I'll give them a 9.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 4 years and I own a Highway 1 strat with a Peavy Valveking. I also have owned an Epiphone acoustic. I am pretty satisfied with this guitar and would buy another if this were stolen. I have never seen Lacewood on an acoustic before that didnt cost $2000 so that was a big factor in my decision. When I was in the store the wood caught my attention when I saw it had grover tuners and a Fishman preamp for as cheep as it was I was sold.
