this guitar does take some getting used to. it sounds a little tinny in the upper range, but the mids and lows are very nice. I haven't gigged with this guitar, i have a custom guitar for that, but it definitely has the capability's to do so. i usually use it for drop D G tuning stuff, which utilizes the bass much better than standard tuning. the guitar is pretty limited in sound, unless you have it turned way up on your amp, it will sound super dull. the neck was fairly ok when i got it, but Ive grown fond of it and i like it quite alot.

i bought it new and i can tell you, Ibanez don't know how to setup an acoustic guitar. is has the old school 'Piano Strings' on it and i could barely play it. i put sum d'arddarios on it fabulous. i did notice one flaw, the guitar sound box wasn't fully sealed. because of the white binding, i could see light thought a small section of the binding, does nothing to the sound of the guitar though. nut and bridge were fine, barely touched them, others i know hated them.

as i said before, i don't gig with it so i wouldn't know, its more of a jamming guitar you know? the tuner uses battery s and recently (after a year or 2) the tuner randomly stop working and i have to move the battery's back into place. the finish has handled me sweating all over it every week for the last few years, so i don't think it will come off easily. the guitar is a pretty basic model, it has everything you need, and only a couple of things you don't ;). it is pretty dam solid as its been dropped numeruous times and been pretty much totally screwed and i fixed it up fine so its SOLID!!!

i also have a Magnum LP copy which is great, a custom acoustic for gigs and a Yamaha G-60. all nice guitars and i would replace them all if they got lost or stolen, except this one... i would rather spend the money on a guitar that isn't black as it get smudges etc. the tuner is definitely a life saver for lazy people like me who can tune by ear but really couldn't be bothered. this guitar will probably outlive me...

Nice features for the price - XLR output and built in tuner are particularly unexpected on a bass this cheap. The preamp is a little limted however, not as good as a Fishman or similar.

Pleasingly loud unplugged, much louder than my Washburn AB10 and i can play with an acoustic guitar without having to get the amp out, particularly with a pick. Plugged in, it's very bassy and has a tendancy to feed back.

The nut was terrible, far too high. The strings fitted were horrible too. The rest of the bass is put together beautifully, the finish is flawless, the neck is straight and i am particularly impressed with the frets themselves, they're perfect.

Seems well built, I wouldn't hesitate to gig it without a backup. Any tiny dings will show up on that black finish though...it's a bit nineties

Its nicer to play and sounds better than my ancient Washburn AB10. I love to play it unplugged, it sounds great. i'm not too keen on the black finish but for the money i don't believe you can buy a better acoustic bass.

I play in church and have played various genres of music from rock, pop, contemporary and R&B. The guitar sounds bright and full with soft tones of the bass strings and sharp tones on the treble strings. Very well balanced. The guitar sounds impressively loud (unplugged) for a compact body. Sounds even better when plugged in as the SPT Pre amp allows fractional adjustments.

The guitar was set up beautifully at the factory. Action is a little on the low side, which is perfect for me. The built quality is flawless as all controls worked properly and everthing was nicely fitted.

Judging by the way it is built, the guitar will definitely withstand live playing. The hardware looks like it will stand the test of time and the finish seems durable enough. I would not use it during a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for about a year now. I own and Ibanez RGx Electric, Yamaha CPX 700 and a Yamaha F310. This guitar would fair well against the Yamaha CPX 700 which costs twice as much.
