The AW200ECE is from Ibanez' "Artwood" series. It's a quality solid-top, steel-stringed, acoustic-electric sold for a very reasonable price.

Solid Engelmann spruce top. Sunburst high gloss finish on the top, flamed maple back, sides and headstock. Cutaway. Abalone around the soundhole. Gold Grover tuners. 20 frets. Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Fishman Prefix Plus-T (Piezo pickup?). Onboard EQ, tuner and notch filter.

Sound : 9
It's a full-bodied dreadnought, so it has a full-bodied sound. The maple back and sides give it some nice sparkle. When you plug it in, you can make it sound pretty much any way you want with the EQ, contour and brilliance controls.

I play mostly classic rock, but I think this guitar would be good for folk as well.

This guitar sounds great unplugged and even better when you plug it in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was well set up at the factory. Usually I assume any new guitar will need a professional setup, but I'm going to play this one "as is" for a while -- the factory setup is that good.

The action is pretty medium -- not as low as I like, but not high either. It's quite playable right out of the box.

No obvious flaws. The fit and finish is great for a sub-$400 guitar.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I think this guitar will withstand occasional gigging. (That's what I bought it for.) The strap buttons look sturdy.

I can't really rate this category since the guitar is brand-new.

I've been playing for more than 20 years and own an Alvarez-Yairi. I sold a Carvin acoustic to get this one (needed the electronics). I've played Taylors and Martins, and although this guitar isn't as nice or as easy to play as one of them, it comes very close for a small fraction of the price.

If it were lost or stolen and finances were still a factor in the purchase, I'd buy another one.

I like a lot of things about the guitar. The sound (especially when plugged in), the neck, the Abalone around the soundhole, the flamed maple back and sides.

It's a great value.
