Pearloid Headtock overlay and position markers. Handmade in Germany in the 1954. Neck is more a square shape with rounded edges than round. Looks like it is all maple, mine has a very well done sunburst finish.

Very crisp sound with surprisingly long sustaining character. sounds great for very slow passages and has a very expressive character in its tone. Equally adept at chordal work - rythms just seem to jump out of the thing.

Archtops of this age (50+) usually have some issues that result in a very high action. This guitar has an action that is a little on the high side. Neck is a little on the narrow side for single note styles although if you have good left hand technique this is not a problem. Finish is excellent rich lacquer in sunburst obviously these guitars were made with a lot of care and attention to detail.

After 54 years its still going strong so I think it will withstand the test of time.

These are great guitars - I think Elvis had a couple when he was in Germany. While they are well made and finished better than many of the American guitars in the same era IMO you can still get these at the right price and the mojo is free!
