I'm writing this review mainly in response to the other posting that is out there from someone who stated that his was purchased from a retailer on eBay. I, like many I'm sure, check HCentral reviews prior to buying a guitar unplayed on eBay.
I was looking for an inexpensive acoustic / electric to noodle around in my basement studio...saw an ad for this guitar from a retailer on ebay for $119...read his review and noted the GLOWING review and all 10's...subsequently purchased the guitar...got it yesterday...and was completely disapointed. I returned it today.
Needless to say, I am suspicious that this individual works for that retailer, and planted this review for those of us who rely on HC for objective feedback from fellow musicians.
As for features, the guitar had volume and tone controls and 6 strings.

Ok...the sound was actually OK. Sounded terrible plugged into my amp and I missed the ability to do more with the sound than just adjust the volume and tone. Unplugged it was ok as well. But, just OK. I guess what you would expect for a $119 guitar. If you're just learing then I suppose it was ok.

The action on this guitar was terrible. It was ok for me on the lower half of the fretboard, but once you got passed the 7th fret, the action was crazy high. Attempted to play some solo's up at the 12th fret, and my fingers kept going UNDER the strings. Not good. Reminded me of my son's $7.00 toy guitar with nylon strings. Ick

This was the worst part of the guitar. I am pretty sure it was made from wood, but when you pick it up..felt like a toy. Seems very, very cheap. Totaly light. Just SCREAMED cheap guitar. Looked cheap too.
While I returned it the day I recieved it, can't imagine it would withstand any kind of punishement. Gigging would be out of the question.
If it was stolen, I'd feel sorry for the bastard risking jail time for this thing.

Did not have it long enough to know. The retailer I bought it from was very good..and took it back with no problem. Have yet to get my money back, but am assuming I will.

I've been playing for over 15 years and play almost every day. Ended up replacing this guitar today with a Takamine G-Series from Guitar Center and the difference is absolutely astounding. Granted, I paid about $150 more (used), but it is money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

I just got this Baby off of Ebay from BIG DADDY'S Guitars and I am TRULY amazed. It is a thinline acoustic/electric (made in China, mind you) It has simply a volume and tone control. It is a sruce top with nato back, sides and neck. beatiful black with whirw binding and they even put a strap button on the back and set it up for me. DUDES and DUDESSES, this was a HELLUYVA great guitar for $119.00 (including shipping and a gig bag and a cord!!!). I am sitting here with my jaw on the floor amazed at how FANTASTIC this guitar plays AND SOUNDS!!! I was really scared when I ordered because it was the cheapest guita purchase I have ever made. I had a high dollar Takamine that didn't play as good as this one does and the thinline body resonates like a much bigger model!. BEAUTIFUL! I am DEFINITELY recommending Big Daddys guitars here. This is a single cutaway design and the neck plays like an electric. VERY fast and smooth with NO BUZZING!

Hands down, this baby sings and rings. For $119.00< again I am amazed! This baby sounds good enough to play live and I WOULD PLAY IT IN A STUDIO TOO. No problem! Bright, yet FULL rich sound. Great for acoustic leads and full bodied rhythm. As I said Big Daddy's did a FANTASTIC JOB setting this thing up. I would have EASILY paid more for this kind of service and the end result!

As I said above, plays like a wet dream. I can't stop raving about this. This is one to show off! My other guitar players in my band said "No way, dude!" You paid more than that!..."

I see no problems with the build of this guitar. It's solid and it feels like it! Nice strap buttons and I would use it as my only acoustic live with no backup!

I've only dealt with Big Daddy's Guitars online but they saw this through from start to finish. i am pleased. If you decide to buy online from an Ebay type source, don't hesitate to buy from them. Every time i play this guitar I laugh at how much I paid. It's downright ridiculous! It also has a 2 year warranty which I really don't think I'm going to need.

I amk 42 and i have been playing since i was 10. hands down the Chinese have gotten obviously better over the years making guitars. You can rant and rave all you want about "buy American" but hands down, I haven't seen or played an American guitar in this price range that can touch it. I'll buy American when I can but I'm also an American living on a budget and this one suited my wallet. While I was fully prepared to send this baby back because I thought it could be a bum deal on a mail order guitar, I got a nice, wet dream of a surprise when I picked it up and started playing it. I don't know who Johnson is or where they come from but this particular guitar has my vote and Big Daddy's guitars will see more of my business in the future.
