I purchased this guitar from Mandalay Music. It cost $249, and came with a very cool gig bag, a chord, and a battery. After I purchased it I saw the guitar (just the guitar) on another site for $179. It has a spruce top. Two thirds of the top is solid, one third is laminated. The electronics are by Johnson (i'm not sure if they make them) It has an active preamp with a 4 band eq. The neck is mahogany, and so are the back and sides. Overall the features are standard. The best feature I liked was the gig bag it came with, its durable, thick and its tweed. Very original.

Sound : 8
Its sounds pretty good. It doesn't sound as good as my guild or martin, but I never expected it too. The sound is fairly round. My guild has great mid-range, my martin has great bottom end, this has an overall even sound. For the price it sounds great, expect it to sit in the Ibanez range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was really low. Its about as low as they come on acoustics.
At first it was very buzzy, I let it sit for two days with a humidifier in the case. It got a lot better after that. I ordered it in July so it was bouncing across the country in a hot truck. The guitar is very easy to play across the whole neck. There's no problems with sound anywhere on the neck. Overall the action fit and finish is very good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I bought this guitar because I was backpacking across Europe. I shipped it on the plane in its gig bag. It got banged around on the trip, and often I used it as a pillow (with it in its gig bag). I bought this guitar to break it or lose it. Neither happened. The guitar is in as good of shape as the day I got it. The neck never moved or anything like that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this guitar is great. If I lost it i'd definilty buy another one. This guitar is a great playing and sounding guitar for a very cheap price. Because of that, I bring it everywhere with me, camping, party's, on the boat. I play it more then my guild or martin, and when I go back up to college they are staying home. I use my guild and martin in the studio, this guitar is my everyday playing and practice guitar.

Here are the specs from where I purchased it. They are correct:

Canadian Sitka Spruce Top
Honduras Mahogany Back & Sides
Mahogany Neck
Dovetail Neck Joint
Adjustable Truss Rod
Diecast Tuning Machines
Nickel/Silver Frets
High-Gloss Finish
2-Year Warranty
Active Preamp w/ 4-Band EQ
Under-Saddle Transducer Pickup
Bound Rosewood Fretboard
Bound Headstock
Rosewood Bridge
Multi-Ply Body Binding
Inlaid Dot Position Markers
Abalone Rosette Inlay
Herringbone Back Stripe

I can't believe they can offer all this for what this guitar costs!

Sound : 8
It has a full tone. A little bright. I think the sound will come in a little more when the solid top gets seasoned. Solid woods need a little while to really break in. When plugged in it's very easy to get a desired tone- I'm impressed by the EQ's on the preamp and they do their job well. It uses the battery a little quick though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Again, I'm surprised. No, it's not a Martin. Not a Taylor either. But for $249 I've never seen a better made guitar. The neck was set perfectly and the action was low all the way up & down the neck. I was a little skeptical of the guitar because of the price, but had I seen it in a local store I would have paid twice the price without question. I put some Grover tuners on it which I love- the tuners that came on it did the job, but not as smooth as Grovers.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Don't know. I've only had it for 2 months. It seems very well made and I hope I can play it for a long time to come. It does have a 2-year warranty which is nice.

Customer Support : 10
This is a great company. They shipped my order the same day I ordered it, and were very responsive. It's one of the better online guitar dealers I've dealt with and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again, or recommend them to anyone else. The prices were fantastic.

I'm happy with the guitar and would buy it again. Get one. They are better than other guitars for this price, like Washburns, Epiphone etc.

Okay, first off, I really don't know much about this guitar. I bought it off Ebay for a hundred bucks, thinking, "Eh, I need an electric acoustic." When I got it, I was quite surprised. The finish was a gloss, which was noticably nicer than those of the lower models of the Johnson line. And the tuner worked nice and smooth. It's a pretty standard dreadnaught, with a sweet abalone rosette.

Sound : 8
I usually play rock, punk, emo or ska type styles, meaning some ferocious emotional strumming and the occasional weird fractured chord. The sound of this guitar is brighter than the normal dreadnaught, and the treble is quite strong. But it doesn't sound dead, by any means. It's just a different sound from what I'm used to, with my Martin DX1. Don't expect too much bass from it. Plugged in, the simple eq works fine, and I can pretty much shape the guitar's sound any way I need to. Personally, I play this more than my Martin...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Well, the strings were nasty, being that the guitar was used. After a quick change of strings, and a turn and a half on the truss rod, the guitar was playable and ready to be jammed. The neck is totally nice and comfortable, and I haven't found much not to like about it. Well, except for a huge gaping scratch I found on the neck from the previous owner... but, it was re-finished and feels like it's not even there.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Well, I've done ONE live performance with this baby, and I picked up a soundhole cover for it, so everything worked out fine. But, if you don't have one, you might find some feedback. Everything else is rock solid. I don't see any reason why it would fail on me now.

Sorry... never dealt wid em.

I've been playing for 2 years, and I've been on a budget lately. So, took a chance and purchased off the net. I'd have to say this guitar is quite a bang for your buck, and you wouldn't be able to find quality like this til you are willing to pay 3, 4 times you would pay for this guitar. The End.
