I had never played a Kona K1 before meeting up to buy this guitar. Found it on Craigslist.org and figured that for $60, any like new condition left handed acoustic would be worth it. I was still pleasantly surprised! This guitar has a good, full sound to it. A friend of mine has a Takamine Jasmine s35 and they sound very similar. My Kona seems to have a clearer, more "full" sound to it. The trick is to get some decent strings on this thing. The strings it had on it when i bought it were pretty cheap and just a change into some Martins made a noticeable difference. I think this guitar would work for any entry level-to-intermediate country/western, folk, indie, acoustic rock, blues, singer/songwriter type of format! If you mic this guitar properly, you can get a GREAT sound from it when recording! Could probably fool a lot of people as to how much the guitar actually costs, new. For the price, I would give this thing an 11!!! But as far as it goes alongside ALL acoustics, i'd around 7.5 but for the official ranking i'll be generous. ;) I really don't NOT LIKE anything about this guitar, it's just not as nice as a Taylor or Martin, but i love it!

low action, i like it! i did have a problem with the A&D&G strings buzzing at the 14th fret but a slight adjustment of the truss rod cleared that up nicely! Otherwise, a relatively flawless guitar. Tuning pegs even feel solid, much more so than any other $100 acoustic! Stays in tune, great!

O.k., don't judge me! I did pay $60 for this guitar. It was sitting on my couch, one afternoon, and after running some errands on a moped in the 100 degree heat, i come home to FINALLY sit and rest. When I plopped down onto the couch the guitar was sitting on, the weight displacement SHOT THIS THING UP AND OVER THE ARMREST! It did a full flip over the couch and slammed on my hardwood floor... and other than the VERY SLIGHT ding along the back edge, this guitar is fine.
Q U A L I T Y !
For a $100 guitar, i really don't expect it to survive my sometimes aggressive playing style for more than 2 months.

I've been playing guitar for 14 years, playing in bands for 12 of those years. Bands were punk/metal, blues, garage/grunge rock (man i miss the 90's XD), hardcore, rockabilly, Johnny Cash-style country, folk-singer/songwriter, and a bit o bluegrass. i've been places, played things, jammed with a lot of people of different walks of life and musical styles. I know a good deal when I see one and this guitar is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! I paid $60 for this thing, USED, and i would do it again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again!!!! If you can get your hands on one of these for less than $100, you are getting a STEAL of a deal! I will probably end up fitting my own pickup and electronics on this guitar, someday. For $60 it would make a great project guitar, once i snag another one! ;)
