A beautiful all solid-wood grand auditorium guitar with rounded cut-away. Nice spruce top. Indian rosewood back and sides. Nice rosewood and abalone inlay around soundhole. One-piece mahogany neck. Wide finger-style neck and sonic pick-up system (piezo in bridge and magnetic pick-up under fingerboard).

Sound : 5
When i bought the guitar its sound was this nice lush sound of silky highs and controlled bass.
Excellent for fingerstyle and controlled strumming.
However after about two months it started changing.
Highs became more brittle and it developed a dead spot on the 6th string 3rd and 4th fret. Especially bad when you do a chord with the G# as bass-note. Also around 10th fret on the 5th string it was less reponsive with a bit of rattling.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I discovered after some time that the edge of the fingerboard around the abovementioned 3rd and 4th fret was not "flush" with the rest and on the back there was a little "run" in the lacquer.
Otherwise nothing to remark.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Guitar seems solid enough, but picks up dents and wear quite easily.

Customer Support : 7
I adressed the issues above with the company and guitar was shipped to correct flaws.
This was done nicely in the cosmetic department but failed to do something about the sound issues.

Overall Rating : 6
I'll probably just have to accept that this is the standard.
This one will collect some dust and probably only come out when I need a cutaway guitar with a bright sound for recording.
Alternatively I could a "Townshend" on it and post it on Youtube.

A gorgeous grand auditorium body that sings when you play it.
B Band electronics that sound fantastic.
Rosewood back and sides with Brazilian Rosewood inlays and a mahogany neck.

Sound : 10
Incredible fingerstyle guitar that holds up very well for moderate to slightly heavy strumming. A very bright Tayloresque sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on my guitar was perfect all the way up to the last few frets. The intonation seems perfect to me. The build quality was perfect. I could not find a flaw. A piece of art.

Reliability/Durability : 8
B Band pre-amps plastic equalizer seems a tad flimsy looking but has been working great with no problems for almost a year now. Guitar has been utterly dependable for live shows and gigging. Always stays in perfect tune. Great craftmanship.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had a issue with this guitar so I do not know...

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for 15 years and this is truly one of the best guitars I have ever played. I owned a Taylor 714ce for years and I thought it was as good as it gets but this Lakewood has some how surpassed it whenever I want a great rich bright tone.

If you can find one of these guitars you will not be disapointed, but you should play it first because not all guitars are ever created equal.
