My 00-05 was made in 2002.They really used nice mahogany which surprised me since mahogany seems to be getting light in color lately. The abalone is mostly green and blue.I wanted a small body guitar with twelve frets at the body. It's not a big guitar and that's what I wanted.

Sound : 7
I wanted this body style because I like to finger pick and I wanted a small bodied guitar to give the sound some intimacy without a lot of resonance. Even with a small body, this guitar has a full sound to it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar hasn't been adjusted since it arrived. I think it plays great. It doesn't buzz and the action works well with my finger picking style. I love the wood. I have two other Larrivees and this one really shines.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar feels very stable and strong. I fully believe that this guitar will outlast me. I think that this guitar would be a great stage guitar and is equally useful at home on the couch.I bought to play, not to sit around and look at it.

Customer Support : 10
This company is known for being fair to it's customers. Iv'e seen examples of Larrivee bending over backwards to please it's customers. This guitar has a lifetime warranty for pretty much everything but humidity problems.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over forty years.I've played some really bad guitars over time and I think this is probably the nicest instrument I ever had. It just feels great when I play it. It has a look too. I like it's tone and I feel connected to it. I only use it for fingerstyle playing. If I lost it, I would have to find another and I've only had it a couple months. I dont think it's even broken in yet.

This is a simple, straighforward 00 sized guitar. I bought an older model which had no inlay and was not at all "fancy". Nonetheless,it was very well built, with ebony neck, spruce top, mahogny back and sides, with a gloss finish.

Sound : 10
OK, here's where I go with the 10. Wow, for a tiny guitar, this has a GREAT sound. I bought it for my son but after hearing it, I want it back. As with my Pete Anderson model, I put on a bone nut and saddle. I also added a pick-guard. It has a very smooth, balanced sound (in contrast to the Pete Anderson model which is snappy and bluesy). I continue to be impressed by the Larrivee sound. I have played (and paid) them all, including Martins and Taylors. I think the Larrivees rival the sound of Santa Cruz and Goodall guitars (which I also love but can't afford). Bang for buck award goes to Jean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Simple, as noted above but top notch craftsmanship

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is a small bodied, well-built guitar but this is not one to take on the road or to re-enact any Pete Townsend moves with.

Customer Support : 10
Larrivee has great customer support. Since I tend to monkey around a lot with my guitars, I have had many conversations with Brian Trepannier, who, besides being very helpful, has a great sense of humor.

Overall Rating : 10
I already want another. These are very hard to find as Larrivee only makes them by special order now. I'd like to get an 00-09. As I said, this guitar is really for my son but he has to pull it away from me half the time. If anyone has one please contact me.

This little guitar was made by Larrivee in Canada. I ordered it from Daves music in Mocksville,NC in Feb.2001,and it got here in June. It has a very nice sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides,a mahagony neck beautiful maple binding and a gloss finish. The neck joins at the 12th fret.00 Larrivees are special order only.It also came with a nice archtop hardshell case.

Sound : 10
I just love guitars, don't know alot about playing them. I play a sort of spastic pic and strum oldtimefolkiesometimechurchycountry style. I wouldn't wanna be confused by facts or proper technic,I just have fun. It depends on what mood I'm in as to what sounds good. I also have a Larrivee D05 dreadnaught,a mahogany parlor, and a Martin backpacker. The 00 05 is quite loud for a small guitar, with rich focused sound almost pianolike.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I traded a flawless two year old Martin HD28 for this 00 05 and a Larrivee D03 which I gave to my son,the bridge pins don't fit quite as nicely on the Larrivees as they did on the Martin but other than that everything is perfect. I think the finish is probably more durable than the Martin's laquer [ I know the laquer is suppose to age and sound better, but it also cracks].Set up was excellent from the factory, just tweeked the truss rod a bit.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I usually just play at home and occasionally at church, but I think any Larrivee should prove durable.Larrivees don't come with strap buttons unless you order them or have them installed.I obviously won't even play at home w\o a backup. I just don't like being without a guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Lifetime warranty. The only time I've dealt directly with the factory I talked to Jean Larrivee's daughter to order a couple of T-shirts they seem to be to expensive for Dave's Music to bother stocking.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been screwing around with guitars almost twenty-five years.I'd be particularly devastated if anything happened to the 00-05 I love it and my wife would probably kill me if I ordered another one.
