Made in Canada, the 1997 model rosewood standard version, solid spruce (tight grain) rosewood back and side(pitch black rosewood)comes with Fishman prefix pickup and Larrivee deluxe HSC, my second Larrivee. Bought this through Ebay (pawn shop) they didnt describe much about the guitar when I receive it was really awesome.

Sound : 10
Use to have few rosewood guitar dont really like them even Taylor 810CE (no offence to Taylors owner) I owned 310ce, 414ce, 410KCE, JKSM, 810ce non of that beat this guitar.....I called her Lisabeth she sings really well. Got a really warm tone and sustain too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
action was great, the previous owner have done great setting on the action really comfortable same the Taylor guitars. Matte finish really practical when you are sweating during the live gig. very little cleaning or polishing require tho. The neck is so slick for people like me (small hand)

Reliability/Durability : 10
previous i have the L-03e never have any problem compare with all the other Taylor guitar really stressful to look after Taylor but as for Larrivee built to last and enjoy for a life time.

Customer Support : 10

This is the rosewood standard, satin finished florentine cutaway from Larrivee in, I believe, their proprietary L shaped body. A nice, simple, basic guitar with all the essentials: solid spruce top, rosewood back and sides - all solid, of course, eboncy frets and bridge, tusq nut and saddle, mahogany neck, dot markers, clear pickguard. I don't believe they make this model any longer. This comes equipped with Fishman's prefix pro (which I actually like slightly better than the blender).

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds nice and mellow. I think the satin finish actually allows the wood to vibrate more - all of my other guitars are gloss finished, and somehow - maybe it's just me - but the wood seems to vibrate more then I strum it. I like the sound - not sheap or cardboard-like at all - just a good, balanced middle - not too high, not too boomy - but a nice presence. The body shape lends itself to a larger dreadnought sound, and yet it feels like a Taylor 714ce (grand auditorium size). I originally thought that the C series took too much wood out of the guitar - the florentine cutaway does take it's bite out of the regular L shape, but the sound remains steadfast and clear. I just put on some new phosphor bronze lights on this and the sustain, clarity and resonance on this thing is beautiful.

I was a little reluctant to go with another Larrivee after the J-09 I used to own - that guitar actually hurt my finger pads - I think the metal fret lines were cut a bit sharp - and it made my calloused finers actually sore. But this C-03 hasn't given me that problem yet. The frets feel fine (it's funy how I can feel the difference between Taylor, Guild and Larrivee frnets) and the playibility is comfortable.

One nice thing about this guitar's neck is that it's terribly straight - almost like an electric - and so it's very easy to move up and down the neck.

The quality and workmanship are first rate on this guitar - no visible flaws and it just feels perfect in my lap. Truly a Larrivee in name and quality!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I bought this guitar used and it came to me in very good condition. I could tell that the back suffered from belt indentations, but the satin finish seems to downplay scratches. I feel like I got the guitar broken in and it now resounds with a nice tone. I plan to use it regularly in my church's worship ministry and for driving my wife crazy at home. I feel very confident about the lasting strength of this guitar.

Customer Support : 10
I've always had a good experience with Larrivee - they've answered my emails very promptly and have answered every question. I feel good about their company and am glad they moved part of their operations to southern California - my backyard.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about twenty years and have owned Guilds primarily. I'm slowly venturing out to new territory and this Larrivee is an indication of that. I really like this guitar and will use it frequently. I might be tempted to try an LV next time, but this C-03 is perfect for me now. The previous owner took good care of this guitar and I appreciated the price I was able to secure for this.

Made in Canada. All Solid - With Rosewood back and sides. Fishman Prefix Plus pickup. Sharp Florentine Cutaway. Satin Finish.

Sound : 10
GREAT! I recommend playing it against a Taylor 814CE- Taylor's lowest end Rosewood with Fishman (their closest competition). Heck play it against the Taylor 314CE - even though it's mahogany. You can tell their both quality, but the larrivee seems to be better balanced and have excellent intonation. The satin finish is so resonant - it picks up everything. Very loud for it's size- competes easily with the dreadnoughts.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Low action, no blemishes, and great - just from the factory! Easily AAA rosewood back and sides. The top is VERY tight and sounds excellent.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The fishman makes it sound like a dream plugged it, but when you're jamming with friends unplugged - they'll all stop to listen! The finish has withstood MANY beatings from falls and travel. Didn't come with a strap button, but the store installed it for free. I use a back up - a LV-09KE from Larrivee. It's not a backup as much as a different sound. I don't have to worry about ANYTHING with this guitar!

Great- even talked to Jean LArrivee a few times!

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've owned MANY larrivees and Taylors. Their both honestly very similar. Taylor will cost you an extra $300 for the same thing larrivee offers. Larrivee has much more inlay and attention to detail than Taylor. Taylor models sound better the higher they are- Larrivee's sound the same - the only difference is wood and inlay. Taylor uses 3 different grades of Mahogany - their 5 series is equal to Larrivee's 03(satin finish) or 05(gloss). I sell Larrivees and Taylors - so feel free to ask any questions - or ask for a price - you may be surprised by the Larrivee price!
