My Larrivee C78 Presentation "Unicorn" model was made in 1989. (It should have been made in their Canadian shop before Larrivee moved to the US) The back and sides are East Indian Rosewood, the top is Sitka Spruce, the neck is Honduran Mahogany, the bridge and fingerboard are African Ebony. It has the C-72 body (smaller than their D series) The "Unicorn" inlay on headstock is absolutely beautiful. This model is no longer available on Larrivee's catalog but can be ordered as production line instrument (Cost about $5500)
Sound

It sounds great! In spite of the small body, the sound projects so well, when play in a small room, the people in the back can hear it clearly even without microphone. It is my best fingerstyle guitar. (2nd choice is my Taylor 812C)
Action, Fit, & Finish

Very easy to play. Action is just right which give a clear sound without any buzz. The finish with inlays on headstock, fretboard and bridge is just beautiful. It stays in tune very well and I don't have to retune it for months.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is more sensitive especially to dry humidity compared to my other guitar (Martin & Yairi are like solid rocks) In the last 14 years, the only problem I had was a minor surface checking on the back.

Never contacted them since there were no major problems. Just contacted them a few days ago to verify the manufacturing data. They got back to me in a few hours! Very responsive and gave me all the info I need.

I have been playing guitars for over 30 years, mostly acoustic type (guitar & banjo) Among my other guitars; Martin D42 (Bluegrass), Guild AA archtop (Jazz or Rock), Taylor 812C (backup fingerstyle guitar), & Yairi D51 (my faithful picnic guitar), this is my most favorite fingerstyle guitar. It is so beautiful and precious to me, I never take it outside my house. It is always the first one which caught my guests' eyes.
This is an absolutely beautiful and wonderful showcase guitar. Not only looks great but also plays so well. It is very expensive but definite worthwhile the investment.
