Rich bright and full, the blend between tones sounds like the guitar has been sitting in a humidor for 30 years. It sounds good with any genre' of music. Lord knows i played them all. It sounds great overall, but a little thin when put through a digital recording board.

I have played hundreds of shows with this guitar, knocked it around, dropped it, squished it. It took all the road abuse and never lost a hare of tune. i would definately rely on this beauty, and good luch trying to get it from me.

I am an actively gigging guitarist. I play blues, folk, rock, jazz, funk, and country. I've played them all, and nothing could touch My Larrivee for the price i paid. I have about 26 guitars and this is still the one i play the most at gigs. It holds a tune great and will take fingerboard abuse with ease. It is a 10 out of 10!!!

Sounds like the bastard stepchild of an affair between Martin and Taylor. Great bright high end although the low end is a little weak. Sounds great played through most fender/marshall/vox/hartke amps. This guitar sparkles weather plugged in or not. I havent found any guitar less than $2000 that has come even close to the tone.

Set up by professional luthier, plays like a dream. Everything about the guitar is perfect as though made by a master craftsman, not a trainee!

I bought this in April 0f 2000 from Guitar Center. It plays brightly. I've always liked the highs of a guitar and this one fits all my needs. I also have Martin HD-28, which is a beautiful guitar, but I find has much too much low end for my liking. The Larrivee is bright and even across the strings. It's the guitar I play daily when I'm playing accoustic. The finish on this guitar is flawless. I actually had my choice of guitars and saw another that had a bad match of wood on the spruce top, but this one is clear. Very nice.

My style of playing is old rock n roll and some bluegrass stylings. This guitar is perfect for both those types of music. Again, it has a rich, bright sound across the strings. Highs and lows meld together nicely.

The guitar was perfectly set up at the factory. The action is nice and close and the wood is matched beautfully. I've played some other Larrivee's and this one, being one of their less expensive models, maintains Larrivee's quality.

This guitar is tough. I've knocked it around a few times. Played live with a bunch of times. It maintains it's tuning beautifully even while standing in the sun! I use this a my main guitar because of it versatility and ease of play.

I e-mailed Larrivee and Jean Larrivee himself responded to me! And within a few hours. I've never had a problem with the guitar so have had no need for repairs. The guitar has a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

I've been playing for 30 years. I have a Martin HD-28 for the acoustic. Electric Guitar I own include an American Stratocaster and a Reverend Guitar. Mostly a living room rocker with friends so the amps include a Fender Princeton Chorus and a Crate and a bunch of 60's Silvertone and Airline amps that I play around with. I chose the Larrivee simply based on the sound. I was looking for something bright and had $1000 to spend. I spent one day running around Houston playing guitars and the moment I picked up the Larrivee I knew it was the one! I'd even played other much more expensive guitars and chose the Larrivee over some Taylors and Martins based on the sound.

Bought at Guitar Center, they call it D-01, emailed Larrivee & they said it's their D-02 model, designated as D-01 for Guitar Center. Built in 1999, dreadnaught body. Inside Label says Special Edition Laminated Body. Sapelle, ebony fingerboard, Clear Pickguard, Good Gotoh tuners, Fishman Matrix 1 piezo? active pickup with volume, treble & bass slide controls, no strap button at neck end so buy neck tie-down straps or screw in.

Acoustically, I play fingerpick & pattern stuff (Jim Croce, James Taylor), rock rhythm (Eagles, Fleetwood Mac) with pick. Good loud sound by itself since I was used to an old but loud Ovation. Nice, neutralish acoustic sound with bright trebles. I bought mostly to plug into amp instead of faking with electric, feels better to me that way. Through amp, it takes on more "personality" than when unplugged, good bass without breaking up, nice mid-range, bright treble that can be toned down with EQ. I like the sound.

Action just a little high further up the neck (past 9-10 fret) but I don't work up there often (<30%) and I just concentrate when I do. I'll get around to adjusting later. Neck feels easy to play, slight "slick" feeling. No flaws in finish or workmanship on this one in this price range compared to the others I looked at. Concern about the long time looks of the clear pickguard, looks like it will hold up, not curl up or discolor.

It looks like it will stand live playing, it's lite. I'll be testing that soon. Hardware is solid. Tuners keeps strings in tune, like a good one should. Take strings off to replace battery or maybe unscrew the pickup controls to get to battery. I understand battery should last a long time. Been dependable so far, no acoustic/electronic backup for me.

When I email them to ask about the guitar in the afternoon, responded the same afternoon. They were most helpful. It dosen't get better than this.

I've been playing mostly on, occasionally off for 20 years. I wanted an acoustic/electric under $500 since I'm replacing/upgrading several other guitars/amps at this time. This was the best value I found under $700 that I liked and that had good quality. Try them out first, like any other guitar, ask for a new one (not transfered from another store)if you're so inclined. This is one of many good values on the market. If I lost this, I would look again to this brand to see what they offered since this model isn't built any more. I compared to Takemine (I like) and Ovations (Nice sound, just doesn't sit in the lap well) and liked this best.
