Great wood selection, great construction...I bought it without a pickup and the d3 has alot less frills than than more expensive models but i wanted that...flat top case was really nice...got what I paid for

Beautiful finger picking guitar...strumming is not nearly as warm and responsive...don't buy it to strum it...but if you want to pick it you will not be dissapointed.

I have been playing for about 4 years and record and preform my own music...I loved the way this sounded when picking but it was not what I was looking for in an all around guitar...Don't get me wrong it's a well built guitar I just think I am going to have to shell out another $400+ to get what i am looking for

Bought new!! Larrivee has discontinued this model because mahogany prices have jumped.
Solid South American Mahagony "HogTop" Dreadnought. Ebony Fretboard & Bridge. 18:1 Tuners. Transparent Pickguard. Satin Finish. Hardcase & tools.
The mahogany grain on this guitar is just fabulous. While this guitar doesn't have the fancy mother of pearl,.. I'm giving it a 10 because of the great grain & ebony fretboard & bridge.

Unbelievable sound!! I opened the case took out the guitar.... tuned it up and was SO IMPRESSED!! The sound is totally warm & buttery!! **Nothing** else like it. Best sounding guitar I've bought to date. The low notes just make the guitar reverberate,.. the mid's and the highs almost sound electric with reverb.... awesome.
I played several Larrivees in a dealer's shop and they all sounded fantastic. However,.. I was looking for something that would have a extremely warm sound (plus the unique looks). After hearing it on a website recording,... I was hooked. Not as bright as a spruce top,... but warmer.

Came equipped with Elixer lights. The action is perfect from the shop. No flaws!! The guitar is a beauty to look at because of the rich course grain (now I know why it's called a "hog top"). The bindings are maple. Action is great all the way up the fretboard. You can do slides - no problem.

Because of the great sound of this guitar, and the fact that it's been discontinued,... I don't intend to take this anywhere it will get dinged up..... This guitar seems lighter than guitars I've owned and the body of the guitar really resonates & projects.

I've been playing off and on for 10 years. I have owned a Harmony Dreadnought, Yamaha CG-150, Guild D25 (cherry), Seagull dreadnought, Blueridge BR-160, and now this guitar. If it was lost or stolen,.... I'd take a deep breath,... check my insurance policy,... and start looking for another one. If you can find one of these,.... go after it.

2004 model, satin finish, mahoogany all around, Dred, ping tuners, nice hardshell case. Very simple look.......wonderful UNSTAINED mahogany and ebony! I just love how Jean Larrivee keeps it simple and elegant like a guitar should be. Jean isn't making the mahogany tops anymore.....so glad I grabbed this one. She is a beauty!

Nice deep rolling overtones. Very good note separation and tons of sparkle. The Larrivee dred is the model that made fall in love with the dred size.....never liked dreds till I played a Larrivee. This thing is ALWAYS in tune........open the lid and away you go!

I've been playing for over 25 years with lots of different brands and styles of makers. The Larrivee brand just "feels" better/different than the other 2 popular makers (Martin and Taylor). Jean's guitars are often hundreds in not thousands less than the mainstream larger makers, but his quality 9 out of 10 times is superior. He builds guitars with the player in mind. My favorite line he sells is the satin finish 03's. They sound and feel like instruments well over $2000 but come in under $1000. All he makes are all-solid guitars. I also own a Larrivee satin parlor. If either one of them were lost or stolen I would immediately run out and buy a replacement. They are guitars that you keep for life. Simply amazing. Make sure to check out the Larrivee forum at www.larriveeforum.com (not associated with the company, but a very, very cool site) It is am amazing place to talk about guitar (especially Larrivee). The mood is uplifting and the vibe is wonderful. My daily shot in the arm!

Purchased new in July 2005, I believe it was made in 2004. all solid wood construction. Mahogany top, sides, back, neck, etc. This is Larrivee's Vintage series and I was told they have discontinued this in the D-03 series. Satin finish, dreadnought body, Tusq nut and saddle, Ping/Schaller type tuners. Comes with Larrivee hardshell case.

Here's where the fun begins. I was having my acoustic worked on in a little acoustic shop in Black Mountain,NC and started playing several different Larrivee's.The D-03MT Mahogany sounded so much better to me than the spruce tops. I played more expensive models and the MT sounded incredible. I could not put it down. I left that day, but returned the following day and purchased it. The sound is full, bright, with full low end. Great fingerpicking and strumming sounds.

Set up extremely well, better than any Martin I've played. Larrivee seems to have the set up part down to a science. I was very impressed with the ease and playability of this acoustic. The guitar has no flaws that I can find. Exceptional quality in the wood, joints, and stays in tune very well.

This is a studio guitar. Most of my gigging is with electrics(Les Paul, Strats)This guitar, as with most high end instruments, will last a lifetime is taken care of.

Been playing about 35 years, I own too much music stuff to list here.
Would buy again. I really like this guitar and have no regrets at all.
If your looking for a high end acoustic, but don't want to fork out $1,500 to $2,500, the D-03 is an exceptional guitar.
