good overall sound, chords are great, needs a little more bite
in the treble but the bass notes will rip through you, it has more fight than most, it won't be left out.

The guitar is only a few weeks old and the setup was fine as delivered. The finish is close to perfect. There are a few bits of glue here and there which I'll remove later. I love this guitar.

I have been playing for two years seriously and have just upgraded from a Simon and Patrick SP6 to this. I used to think the Simon and Patrick was pretty good, but recently I started to find its limits and went out to buy a guitar in the $1500 - $2000 range. I played everything I could find in the range and even some very expensive Martins and Taylors just to see. The L'Arrivee sounded better and played nicer than anything else I could find. I tried the D-09 rosewood models but found I prefered the more mellow sound of the mahogany. I also had a factory tour when I simply dropped in on the factory one Monday afternoon and they couldn't have been nicer. What a great place to work.

Rich and bright with balance and taste. I lead worship and it makes it easy for me to drive the band. I also record and it sounds so gorgeous. Very versatile and kicks the crap out of all my friends Taylors.

Setup was perfect out of the case. I had the store I bought it from install the electronics and everything is impeccable. Couldn't ask for more better setup. Action is not to low or high, just right for me.

I own a D-02E and a D-03E and they have been my gigging guitars for about a year and a half now. They have been everywhere together and they are still pristine. I know that this will meet or exeed the expectations. SOOO solid. Since I have other Larrivees I wouldn't gig without a backup, WHETHER THE GUITAR COST $3999 or $99 you can always break a string.

I've been playing for about four years now. I lead worship for several different churches and I went on my a quest for the ultimate acoustic. I recieved around 2K for graduation so I could have got any number of guitars, but this was the guitar for me right of the bat. Over Lowden, Breedlove(well, breedlove is awesome), such a good price for soo much guitar. If it were stolen no one would ever find me again. Man, looking at that question about it being stolen is putting me in a bad mood. God bless.

Canadian made Larrivee D-05M
I went out to purchase a Taylor. My budget was around $1200. I had looked at a Taylor 414 and it played well and sounded good, but I just couldn't get past the satin finish. THen I saw the Larrivee at a different store and had to have it. I had gone in this particular store to see a used Larrivee D-19. I played it for a while, then the dealer took out the D-05M. It was gorgeous. All solid mahogony top, back, and sides. It has the clear pickguard. I love the wood purfling, and the only abalone is in the rosette. Very nicely finished, this one has the silver inlaid around the headstock. The tuners say Larrivee on them but they look a lot like Schallers. It came with a nice hs case and the special wrench for adjusting the neck. I like the dovetailed -vs- bolted neck. I also like the lack of strap pin on the bottom. There is a nice ebony inlay where the sides join on the bottom of the guitar. The neck is full scale, and is 1 7/8" wide. The fingerboard and bridge are ebony. The fb is bound.

I am a finger style player, but I also strum and shoot a few leads now and then. This guitar has to open up some before it will really start to sound great. After all, it is only a few months old. Off the wall it sounded as good if not better than the Taylor 414 and it blew away the few Martins I found for the same price.

The guitar had tremendous action right from the factory. There was one little tiny ding in the finish.

Unfortunately, when I got the guitar home and had played it for a few days, I noticed a crack in the ebony bridge. The crack went through the pin holes. Being dismayed, I called the dealer from whom I purchased the guitar. He told me that there was no way the crack could have happened in such a short time, so it must have been there when I bought it. It was hard to see because the bridge is ebony. He called Larrivee and was authorized to return it.

After two weeks, I was sent a brand new D-05M just like the one I had originally purchased. I was told that the problem was one of low humidity. Usually, Larrivee doesn't honor the lifetime warranty if damage is inflicted by humidity changes. Kudos to Larrivee for honoring this one.

I've been playing for almost 30 years.
I would certainly purchase another Larrivee. I really love the look of the all mahogony guitar with the maple purfling and abalone rosette. The guitar is very tastefully appointed without being gaudy.
I just wish I had seen the crack in the bridge before I brought it home.
