This guitar was made in Canada in 1998, a limited run of maybe 100 units. It has a tightly grained spruce top with a fancy abalone rosette. It boast an ebony bridge, bone bridge pins with abalone inlays, bone nut, and saddle. The top and back are bound with highly figured curly maple. The Brazilian Rosewood back/sides are exceptionally figured. It has a single piece mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard with micro dot inlays, nut width is 1 3/4". It also has the gloss finish with the Flying Eagle mop & abalone inlay on the headstock.

Incredible sound, rich highs, full mids, and robust bass. One of the best sounding guitars I've ever heard. Now I know why these things are so sought after. Very full yet balanced tone, the bass is strong but not over powering like some EI Rosewoods. With the Sitka Spruce top this thing really comes alive. It sounds great when lightly picked or driven hard. Almost impossible to overdrive but has a real nice mid to bass punch when pushed.

Set up is great but I bought it used, I'm sure it has been tweaked by a pro. Bookmatch is perfect, fit and finish is what you'd expect from one of the flagship guitars from Larrivee. They really put this thing together like a world class manufacturer. I've gone over this instrument with a fine-tooth comb and cannot find any flaws.

I'm sure this guitar would withstand the treatment of playing live but I don't think I ever would. (I've got other guitars for that.) Hardware and finish seems as good as any other high-end manufacturer. (Although I wish it were finished with lacquer.) No strap buttons on this one, made to play sitting. Very dependable, no backup needed.

Best customer support out there, I used them with other Larrivees I own and these guys take customer service to another level.

I've been playing for over twenty years (mostly elec.) but started on acoustic. If this thing were stolen or lost I'd be devastated but I would replace it as soon as I could. (They are kinda hard to locate but a great value when you find one.) If I could only have one acoustic guitar, this would be it!

This guitar just blows me away. The crisp treble and sustaining bass are incredible. I didn't realize how much difference brazilian rosewood makes on a guitar. It is too bad that the wood is so scarce now. I am a piano player also, so I sometimes feel like this thing is a smaller cousin to my grand, it just keeps on sounding out with tremendous sustain and crisp definition of notes.
It strums loud and yet the subtle sounds of fingerpicking is fantastic.

Action is perfect, low and quick. Bookmatching of top and back are perfect. A couple of places where thee curly maple bindings meet are off center, but not noticable unless you look really close. Nothing else here to complain about. Outside of guitar is brilliant and inside is very clean and smooth.

Most of the Larrivee's do not have strap pegs installed at all, and I am not going to drill into that brazilian wood, so I will have to play on a chair or stool. The finish seems very good. They have installed a small clear pickguard to protect the top but show all the wood. You cannot see the pickguard unless you are very close to the guitar. The only problem with a guitar this pretty is you don't want to bump it and scratch it up. I know I will get a ding someday, but I have another Taylor 415 with satin finish that I will probably take anytime I don't want to be extra careful.

No comment here. Have not done anything except go to their web site. I thought their website needed some work. Some pages don't have content, etc.

I have been playing for almost 30 years. I have a Taylor 415 Jumbo which is a great guitar also, although not as pretty to look at. The Larrivee does seem to have better bass response even though the Taylor is a Jumbo. I don't know if it is the Brazilian rosewood, or what but the Taylor is a great guitar also. If it was lost or stolen I would definately look for another Larrivee. I bought the guitar on Ebay and I usually do not like to buy something I have not played, but I feel that I would buy any Larrivee or Taylor without playing first because of the consistancy of quality and action between any of their guitars.
