Smooth, mellow sound. Even tone across all strings. Low volume compared to my Martin D-25 and Taylor DCSM.

Purchased used/was dry. Frets were slightly exposed on both sides of fretboard and top showed early signs of low moisture problems. Two weeks of re-humidifying and a trip to Norik Renson for setup and the guitar is mint. The market quality KOA bookmatched back and sides do not show a lot of flame pattern, but are none the less beautiful. The maple binding and inlays make this a wonderful guiters just to look at.
The neck has some good and bad features. I have never played a guitar where sliding up and down frets has been so smooth. The guitar stays in amazing tune even with lots of string bending. The tuning of each string/fret is dead on.
One problem I've seen on all Larrivee guitars, including this one, is that the neck tends to 'square off' where it meet the neck binding, rather than beeing a smooth curve all the way around.

The guitar is a well made as any one I've ever played. If it made it through the lack of care and playing of the last owner, I thing it will last a long time.

I have been playing for almost 40 years. This guitar is a nice addition to my Marting D-35 and Taylor DCSM. I love the playability of the guitar. I am not thrilled at the quality of the case - and will order another Ameritage case as soon as I get the funds.
If this were lost or stolen I would probably get another Larrivee - most, but iw would be rosewood rather than Koa.
For $600 I could not even think of passing up this guitar!

Wonderfuly full, rich tone. Crisp highs, full mids, and strong bass. Warm sound from the Koa top with great note seperation and very even response over the whole fretboard. Responds well to soft touch or strong flat picking.

Fast, low action with the typical Larrivee neck. Superb craftsmanship with no noted flaws. The bookmatch on the top and back are exceptional. The mahogany neck is stained to match the Koa used in the body. The use of blond curly maple bindings that are highly flamed make a wonderful contrast to the darker Koa body wood.

This D10K joins my Larrivee D19M, Martin HD-28, Bourgeois Ricky Skaggs Signature Model, and Breedlove C12MP. It is the best guitar I've owned in over 20 years of playing. It looks like a million and sounds even better. Every one who has seen and played this guitar loves it.
