Plain jane but stunning appearance. No frills and functional. Wood binding contrasts nicely. Bridge pins are cheap, but it is an all solid wood guitar. No on board electronics.

Nice tone and sustain. Perhaps less resonant than my Taylor, but very nice.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Beautiful fit and finish. Low action, but no buzzes. I think the nut slot for the G string may need a tweak, as I have broken a few G strings when restringing, ergo I give it a 7. Otherwise 9.

The OM-3 MT is a very nice guitar. It is currently the guitar I play most often.

Solid south american mahogany top, sides, and back, Simple BWB soundhole inlay, Maple body binding and ivroid neck binding make this guitar absolutely stunning to my eye, because I dont like flash on a guitar. Simplicity is what this has, and it does simplicity wonderfully with solid construction and great matched woods. The only things I see that might need to be changed out are the Tusq saddle and nut, and the plastic bridge pins. Everything else is so wonderful that I'll give it a 9.

I have never had a guitar grab me like this one... which is amazing, because I got it from a fellow off the internet. The sound is everything I was looking for. Dark and mellow with a sort of haunting bloom effect to the sustain just before it cuts out. I played a lot of guitars before this one trying to find that "right" sound and settled with mahogany as my wood of choice... I was going to get a Martin 000-15, but luckily I didnt. This thing is tons better than the 000-15 in every way.
I will say this: I changed the plastic bridge pins out and fitted ebony ones. Before this the bottom end was a bit muddy, but afterward, it became very clear and defined. I'm planning on getting both an elephant ivory nut and a saddle put on, which will hopefully increase the bloom effect this guitar has. When I play it, the whole top rings and vibrates like nothing I've ever played before... I'm simply amazed and dont see myself parting with it... ever.

There is a small knot on the left side of the top... other than that... it has beautiful striping and now flaws with the action. The hand fir dovetail neck is very well fit. Couldn't be happier really.

Solid construction throughout. The satin finish means more care should be taken... but I like the look of satin much more than high gloss... I could see this thing causing some eyes to widen if it was ever to be played live.

I ordered the ebony pins from them... Quick and nice with communication and swift on the delivery. They also make a brilliant guitar. Excellent

Again... I've never had a guitar capture me quite like this one. It will be with me as long as it can stay in tune... or until I kick the ol' bucket...perhaps longer ;-).

AFter a few months, it really opened up.
Mahogany has a wonderful, fundamental, woody tone, and this guitar is no exception. Larrivee guitars have a more contemporary sound... but the vintage is there too. Mid-range is where the strength is, but the axe is so balanced that that strength is glaring...meaning, it's balanced. Woody is the word that comes to mind when describing the overall mojo. And Mojo it is.
It excels at fingerstyle playing vs. flat-picking/strumming -- tho I play it with a light pick; as long as you don't drive it too hard. INfact, flat picked gentrly brings out a wonderful sound... just wouldn't recommend it for bluegrass.
I play folksy-blues, roots stuff... bare finger picked (sometimes with finger picks). For blues, this guitar is great. It's right on the edge of being refined... just enough grit and dirt to make me giddy. Open G and Drop D sound awesome. Awesome. Geez... I sound like a kid. The action is a hair high, but it still plays like smooth and sweet. Plenty of room under the 1.75" nut. VEry responsive -- a trademark of the Larrivee product.

The TUSQ saddle was replaced by a bone saddle (Colossi). I ran the TUSQ in there for awhile, and it got grooved anyway. Bone sounds way better. Guitar looks great, fit, finish, action was a hair high, but ready to go. I added a strap pin and Grover Sta-Tite open back tuners.

WArranty is good. I've owned two other Larrivees. The OEM tuners were sucky (turn turn turn to tune). Larrivee build their guitars to be solid and bulletproof... but soulful too.
It'll last.

Been playing over 30 years
I own a strat and a 40's Harmony, a melodica, and a wah pedal
I've owned two other Larrivees, a Goodall, a few Martins, a Kalamazoo (I sold the Kalamazoo to get the new Larrivee), a Petros, some Guilds, a Reverend Rocco, and a few others.
I love mahogany guitars. I owned a '34 Martin 0-17, a few Martin 15 series (00/000/000S), and a couple funky Harmonys that were/are all mahogany. I love the blues vibe that 'hog gives up. This OM-MT gives it up in spades.
I read a lot about the MT Larrivees and decided it was a good fit... and it is. I'm hoping that it will kill my G.A.S.
so far so good

This review is for a all mahogany OM-03 Larrivee handcrafted in Canada. Top, Sides, Back, and Neck are solid mahogany, has a nice maple binding on the body. Ivory fretboard binding, nickel silver frets. Ebony fretboard and bridge, tusq nut and saddle. Ping tuners and a hard case. Pretty standard features, no electronics, putting a K&K Mini Western on it soon. Finish is satin.

I play country, Christian and a little rock. This guitar has a nice rich sound. No booming bass, just very well blended. Suprisingly loud considering it isn't a dread. Great sound with a pick or without. Just a great overall sound, nice for lead or rhythem. Great for finger picking.

The guitar was set up very well in the factory. No buzz, nice medium low action. I see no seam or joints on the body. Very well crafted. Wood selection is perfect and the satin finish is very nice on the mahogany. The ping tuners are very nice and hold tune very well.

I hope this guitar will last a lifetime. It is very solid built and with the Larrivee warranty and name I don't believe I will have a problem. Trust is not an issue.

Overall this is a fine acoustic guitar. The most I have ever spent on one. I have been playing for 15 years but never spent over $400.00 on a guitar. Recently I have been playing more, once a week with friends for 3-4 hours and every chance I get alone. I have two Alvarez guitars AD60CK and a old 5031, tele, krammer ferrington, Greg Bennett Fastback. I was wanted something a little different from a standard dread. I tried the Martin 00-15 and 000-15, a Taylor 214 and 314, but really loved the sound and feel of the Larrivee.
