I have a Mako Traditions and it is a Les Paul Studio Lite in black. I am having some trouble with the pots at this time the neck is sraight and the body has a fair amount of scraches on the back.
it has a three way selector switch peckup are just like a Les Paul and a crome plate it has passive electronics is seens to have a Mahogany body and a dark wood neck stained darker it is your basic LP with nonlocking tunners and a fat neck

Sound : No Opinion
It suits my playing of blues. I am using a small Fender frontman and a Gibsom G-25R. its noisy on the high settings with no problums on the low to med or med to low. It has a very rich and full sound. it does not have a lot of veriety because of the pots. I like it because it is lighter than reg Les Paul. Dilikes i have a crack running from the nut to the first fret but the crack does a 90 to the fret and stops

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I do not know how well it was set up at the factory because I do not know where it come from but i think it is from Japan. When i first got the guitar the pickups were to close to the strings. The top of the guitar is solid black and the bridge is in very good shape looks like a nashville bridge When i got the guitar the tuners had been replaced and i had to raise the nut

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
The guitar is built tough and the hardware that is on the guitar shows no corrosion the finish is very thick i had to replace both strap buttons and fill button hole with toothpicks i think it will last another 20 years yea i would use it without a backup

This is a beautiful guitar in the tradition of the Gibson Chet Atkins SEC. From the front it resembles a steel string Gibson guitar acoustic with a Venetian Cutaway and a round soundhole. The neck is similar to a Gibson neck. Even the headstock is the same as found on Les Paul guitars. The neck is bound and inlaid with snowflake fret markers. The body is red sunburst and trimmed with herringbone perfling on the top. The back and sides are a solid block of wood that has been routed out for the sound hole and the electronics.

The controls, a volume and tone pot, are on the upper bout. Removing the two screws that attaches them to the body, allows you to lift the unit out to reveal a small preamp that is powered by a nine volt battery. A piezo bar is located under the bridge saddle.

The bridge is probably mahogany and nicely shaped with flares on either side. There is a small volute between the top of the neck and the headstock. The headstock is black and trimmed in gold. The logo "Mako" is at the top underwhich is printed, "traditional."

I don't know if they were original, but the guitar came with a set of very nice Grover tuners. I believe that the neck is 24.5" scale and it uses acoustic guitar strings that are held onto the bridge by bridge pins.

The input for the electric cord is on the guitars underside and on removing it, you can see that it has it's own housing.

This sounds great through a public address type amplifier. It is a little too high end on a regular guitar amp. Very good for rythm and finger picking work.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I had a hard time maintaining intonality on this guitar when I first got it. Especially between the b and g strings. An adjustment to the neck helped that.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is a very well built guitar. The finish is polyethylene and will not hardly scratch. It is a pretty guitar too and shows up well on stage.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no idea about the company that made it. I purchased it used.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing guitar since 1965 and consider myself to be fairly proficient. I liked the guitar when I first bought it, but was disappointed in the tonality. I tried to get some help from several different guitar repairmen, but none could hear the tonal disonance that I heard. So I adjusted it myself.
