I purchased this guitar about 9 months agao and recently received a package from Magnum Opus containing a cool Magnum Opus baseball hat, custom embroidered fleece, polishing cloth and strings. Also contained in the package was a note asking that if I would, please offer my opinion of the guitar I purchased with others through Harmony Central. Well, I have to tell you, I'm not much for writing reviews but, in this particular instance I am thrilled to do it. I am a long time guitar player and have searched far and wide for an acoustic guitar that allows me to be the musician I know I am. Any true musician knows what I'm talking about. My Magnum Opus D 75K is simply the best guitar I've ever played. The craftsmanship is world class and second to none. The unique combination of features, functionality, playability and asthetics result in an unparalleled guitar playing experience. This company obviously spent years understanding what it takes to do it right. I'm a customer for life!

My DK 75 coveres the entire sound spectrum. Bright, singing highs and rich, full lows.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came ready to play.

The woodwork is amazing!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is rock solid.

All components and construction are of the highest quality.

I use it now without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
I would describe the customer service as proactive.

I've not needed to contact their customer service for any reason but, they've called me twice since I purchased the guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 25+ years and own other acoustics, electrics etc.

The only thing I wish I' asked for before buying this guitar is to order a second one!

If it were lost or stolen I would definitely buy this one again.

There is no one feature I like more than another. I guess I love the fact that every feature is as it should be equaling one great instrument.

Listen up all of you in search of holy grail guitars. There aren't many out there. The owner of this company, a few years back enlisted my help with trying to find the perfect electric; the perfect acoustic, etc...in his quest for tone and feel. When much research was done, the ultimate answer was..."I'll build my own!"
I am a studio musician in Seattle, and I play only Anderson, Suhr, and PRS guitars, and sometimes have to play acoustic tracks. I don't much like playing acoustics because I have a light touch for electric playing. No other, and I mean, no other acoustic guitar resonds playing wise or sound wise as good as a Magnum Opus period. The guys in the Eagles are playing and recording with these guitars, and have said they are the best playing and best re-corded tone they have ever heard!! I can sit and play an Magnum Opus guitar for hours and not get finger fatiuge. All of them are solid woods throughout; you cannot find any flaws; the finish is perfect; the appointments are all original; and completely hand made.I would match these incredible instruments up against any other guitar out there at any price point. I worked in retail music stores for over 20 years, and have yet to see a better sounding or playing acoustic guitar. When I found Tom Anderson electrics, that was it! When I found Magnum Opus, that was it! I dare you to find a better acoustic guitar. These guys are out of Marina Del Ray Ca. magnumopusguitars.com If you play one, your search is over. Jeff Hornbeck

My first little rant explains it all. If there was a better guitar in all aspects, I would be playing it. You get what you pay for. There are more expensive electrics than the ones I play. If there was a better one I would have it. I challenge anyone to find a better acoustic than a Magnum Opus...any of their models.

Magnum Opus D-75K dreadnought with AAAA Koa back & sides and Sitka Spruce top. Very similar to a Martin D-45 in regards to inlays, but the MO has additional fretboard and headplate abalone purfling and MO Torch under name. The bridge also has aluminum border inlay like a Martin John Mayer model. Also has custom 18:1 tuners. The neck and bridge are Ebony and it has a bone nut and saddle. I purchased my D-75K new about 10 months ago without electronics and have since installed Fishman Matrix I under saddle system. The guitar is completely handmade and the workmanship is amazing.

This guitar has absolutely no shortcomings. The tone is clear, warm and loud. The guitar barks, roars and sings like an angel. In fact, this thing is almost mystical and sometimes I'd swear it has a chorus effect on it, but it doesn't. No matter what I throw at it, it never let's me down. This is the best sounding guitar I've ever heard and I never touch my other acoustics since I picked up this MO.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My guitar is perfect. The fretwork is perfect - the best I've seen. The neck is the easiest playing I've ever experienced and the action is effortless to play. It is so low that it plays like magic, and yet it never buzzes out and the intonation is spot on. The whole guitar is flawless. When I first bought it I used to set it in my guitar stand and just stare at it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has been my rock. In fact, I don't use a backup anymore. I'd bet my last dollar on my MO. I can't imagine I will ever play another guitar with the exception of my beater I used for slide work.

Customer Support : 10
Haven't had any problems, but did talk with manufacturer briefly about what type of inlay they used on bridge. They were very cordial and you could tell they loved what they do. Very helpful and enthusiastic.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 24 years and I have a serious case of Guitar Acquisition Syndrom (GAS). I own a couple dozen electrics. For electric playing I'm a Tom Anderson & John Suhr fan while my other stuff is just for investment, i.e., vintage. Since buying my MO, I've liquided most of my acoustics and I'm looking forward to picking up some more Magnum Opus models, but they are difficult to get your hands on without custom ordering and the long anticipated wait.
