It's nice to see they finally opened up a category for Magnum Opus Guitars. I saw a raving review on this all Claro Walnut J-600CW2 Jumbo Cutaway in Premier Guitar magazine last December (2006). After reading the review and drooling over the photos I immediately ordered one. I was lucky as it only took about six months to build mine as they had a couple already started in the pipeline. When I opened the case and pulled back the satin shroud I completely freaked out. It was way beyond my expectations. You can see the review & photos yourself at: http://magnumopusguitars.com/pdf/200611_magnum_j600jumbo.pdf
Sound

What can I say about the sound of this Magnum Jumbo Cutaway. How 'bout I've never heard anything like it. I could ramble on and use every adjective and adverb I know and it still wouldn't do this guitar justice. All I can say is you have to experience it first hand to believe it - huge tone that sustains forever! It sounds so big you'd swear it was a 12 string. The volume is colossal! I put an AKG 414 mic on it in the studio and it shook the control room. It's warm and big and has monstrous bottom end.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action, fit & finish is impeccable. This Jumbo Cutaway screams and darn near plays itself. I've never been so inspired with a guitar in my life. I pick this thing up and I can never put it down. I can play licks on this thing that I've never been able to do with an acoustic.

I've only had my Magnum Opus for about 5 weeks, but if first impressions hold up I think this will last forever. Every inch of this instrument is faultless and appears to be built for a lifetime.

Ordered my guitar thru Magnum Opus directly as they didn't have a dealer in my state yet. I spoke personally with one of the owners and he was very cool. MO guitars come with Lifetime Warranty.

In the acoustic world, I own a Martin D-28, Martin D-41, Taylor 614, Gibson J-200, Collings SJ & Larrivee LV-10. My Magnum Opus is by far my favorite acoustic to date. My guitar list for around 6K and purchased new for $4700. It wasn't cheap, but it's worth every penny and all and all I feel it's extremely undervalued for a handmade instruments with these appointments. I couldn't be happier!
