I've own my MAGNUM OPUS X guitar for over a year, finally retired and found a place I could give some of my bottled up feedback on this fine instrument. In 2006 I went along with a couple of my Business Associates to a Namm show and stumbled upon the Magnum Opus booth by accident as we arrived. I got barely 5 minutes handling this Newcomer's guitars as my friends dragged me away to see the "Good Stuff". Over that very long day and out of the dozens of high end guitars I played during that mind boggling slog through the show, I found myself comparing all of the iconic brands to one Magnum Opus guitar - an OPUS X, DREADNOUGHT MOX-D-Elite model that seemed to speak my name. I couldn't get its blinding mother of pearl fingerboard, perfection and crisp sound out of my mind... Master Grade Engelmann Spruce Top surrounds an exquisitely proportioned Rosette of leaved Pearl and Ebony inlay. It also has Master Grade East Indian Rosewood Back & Sides... At the end of the day, I dragged my tired and complaining friends over acres of floor to find that booth and bought it from the owner, who was reluctant and hard pressed to see it leave his sight.

Aside from the bands in school and college, I've been a closet player all my life until recently playing out with my retired friends... Now, we've all got the big dollar guitars we ogled over in our youth... But none of these famous brand vintage guitars compares to the sharp, clear and sweet sounds of my Opus X, especially now with an under saddle Fishman Matrix pickup the factory recommended. I've never sounded so good! It's acoustics are so responsive that everyone I've allowed to play it comments on the "aliveness" as if it had a song of its own to sing.

My retirement has given me the time to really give a critical look at my guitars as I clean and polish them... I've got a Taylor, A Gibson and a Martin - all dreadnought bodies with nice master woods and inlays... and a few electrics, but this Opus X far outshines them in looks, finish, quality and handling... Except for a dozen sets of new strings, it hasn't been adjusted or worked on since the Namm show and it's still perfectly intoned.

It's the only guitar I take wether i'm rehearsing or playing out.

When I recently called the factory and asked them what pick up system they recommend, the owner picked up and asked how his Mother of Pearl baby was doing... He not only remembered me after all the people he met at the show, but out of the blue and after more than a year has passed, these folks sent me a package with polish, strings, wipecloths and a Magnum Opus jacket in the right size! This newcomer is amazing.

I have been playing since the early 60's, have a small collection of vintage guitars and have come to beleive that Magnum Opus is building Guitars that are going to set the investment guitar trend for the future.
