Classic Martin finish. No frills, but just right. I don't know what features you'd have on a classic like this other than it is what it is.

Sound : 10
Rich mid-range and bass, nice bright highs. I've always described this guitar as having sort of a "smoky" sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Flawless. This guitar has been around nearly 60 years so it has a few minor scratches from being used, but it was beautifully made and has really never needed any significant maintenance.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Totally rock solid. I've used it many, many times and there's never any issue whatsoever.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it. I did look up the serial number once and that was handy.

Overall Rating : 10
If you get one of these, you keep it. They are unique, and perfect for what they are. I can't imagine being without it.

56' Martin 00-18. Who needs a fancy guitar? The tortoise binding is nice and the nice wide grained top is cute.

Sound : 10
I have owned many guitars and still own to many! I have D-28's, Gibson's, Santa Cruz and many others...They mostly stay in the cases...except for my 55' gibson country western. This is the best sounding guitar I have ever heard. It's beat up and all but there is not a better sounding or playing guitar out there that I have encountered. Nice low end for a small body and midsy when you need it. Slight v neck is perfect for small hands. Everyone who plays it wants it...good luck!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I gig with it, record with it, and you name it. I am paranoid about it getting ripped off...but oh well. It's been around since 56' so You tell me. I doubt if many of these Taylors and others will be around in good shape in 50 years and imagine how horrid the electronic B.S. is gonna look and sound. It's small and they used thin wood on old guitars, so they are delicate. But that's why they sound good.

16 years playing. If it were stolen I would hunt the sucker down and beat him. I would try to find another for sure. It is perfect. Get one now before they are way to expensive.

Made in 1950, so outdates me by a bit. I purchased it from a friend in 1972 for $70. Ex-girlfriend bought me a hardshell case for a gift in 73. Made in USA and remains totally original stock except for a bit of a glue job I performed in 72 on the bridge.

Sound : 10
Unique bell-like sound. Excellent for finger picking and light bluegrass/blues. Although I tend towards dreadnaught tones this guitar remains one of the cleanest sweetest sounding instruments I have encountered.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
After 55 years the finish shows some wear and there are a number of dings and dongs totally in keeping with age and wear. Action remains true and wonderfully playable. Tuners are original and a little funky but easy to adjust to elimnate any unwanted buzz etc

Reliability/Durability : 9
after 55 years what can i say? granted, i treat it like gold but it is a trooper

Customer Support : No Opinion
never have dealt with martin except to get provenance on when the guitar was manufactured

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing for about 40yr and own a number of acoustic and electric instruments. when i obtained the 00-18 i was an impoverished student terribly desirous of a Les Paul which was out of sight in the $ department. my only possible route to the LP was to trade my 00-18. Never went that route which tells something about how much i like and respect the 00-18. i expect to keep the little thing for the duration

This is a 00-18 w/OHSC 1957....I got it as a birthday gift about
10 years ago....It was owned by serious players and as a result
has not been modified at all....It IS a great finger-picking guitar
but I also have a 1950 000-18 which I tend to use more.
The 00 is currently being used mainly for recording and is
strung with a high 3rd (09) electric string....This gives it a
nice ringing quality which is a bonus for rhythm tracks.
I'll probably keep it since it was a gift, but if the right offer
comes along?....It has one flaw...someone tried to install
a pickup hole on the lower bout and the patch job was not
done well...It does not affect the tone or integrity....
The spruce top has that darker 'aged' quality and the sides
and back have normal use marks from being played. No
serious scratches or cracks....
A wonderful instrument

My 00-18 was made in 1969, and to my best recollection I purchased it new in 1970. As a matter of coincidence I bought it from a store that is now gone, but ht ebuilding is part of the Berkely School of Music in Boston.

The body style is the small curvy Martin style, not a dreadnaught.

I replaced the tuners, which was probably a mistake, but one of the originals was bent to the point of not working. Such is the impulsiveness of youth (Don't ask about that straat.)

Sound : 10
It has a lovely, sweet, gently sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar cost about $150.00 bucks, and the finish is just what you'd want from Martin. The woodwork is stone cold simple, but nicely fitted.

The ONLY negative is that there is a very slight intonation problem, that I am told simply needs a nut or minor bridge tweak.

What do I know?

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
None of this really applies, except to say that this guitar has aged well, handled the usual bumps and dings with grace, and added a few character lines (like all of us in this vintage)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with Martin.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Overall, except for that slight intonation oddity that sometimes gets to a Martin, this thing is wonderful, and will never be sold.

This one was made in 1968. It is a 14 fret model with Spruce top and Mahogany back, sides and neck. Rosewood fretboard. The guitar is completly stock. Purchased used. I can't rate this as it is what it is and nothing more. I just purchased the guitar several months ago. This could still be the honeymoon, but I don't think it's going to end. everytime I open the case and play, it still amazes me with it's sound.

Sound : 10
The guitar sounds like nothing I've heard before. The tone alone is why I bought the guitar. Nice tight bass without the boom of a dreadnaught. Beautiful overtones. Best fingerpicking guitar I've ever played. With or without picks it's balanced and responds to subtle changes in playing with the expected tones. Very affected by string changes so I'm still searching for the best ones for it. Not happy with the Elixers I have on it now. (10's) I will be putting a set of 11's on next. I think I have the D'adarrio coated ones to try next.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Action is a bit high, but I expect that in a Martin and prefer the action high for good tone at volume. The guitar has had a tough lift and as a result, It has the standard Pickguard cracks(all repaired), the finish is off in several areas (where your arm rests and the neck near the nut) and has had at least one neck reset. Since it has been worked on, everything is mechanically as it should be. Lets just say it has 35 years of playing and looks like it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I treat this guitar gently as I am completly infatuated with it. I would play it anywhere except subjecting it to a field picking session at night. It is my house guitar and is used for performance by my daughter in clubs where it is never out of my sight. All repairs have been done by a Martin authorised technician and the shop where I bought it is very picky about quality instruments.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know. I haven't had any work done, but would take it back to the shop where I bought it. The owners care about the customer and respect fine instruments.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 40 years. I own a number of string instruments and also pianos and a Hammond/Leslie. If this guitar were lost stolen or destroyed, I think I might die. This guitar called to me in the shop like an old friend. I could not put it down and literaly could not sleep until I bought it. It's old, beat up and sings like an angel. I hate the thermoplastic case. I can't fit my soapdish humidifier in there anywhere acceptable. I have played acoustics for years in shops waiting for the "one". New martins, old martins. Larravie's, Collings you name it, I have tried them all if I have seen them. Only one has spoken so strongly to me and this is it. I sold two guitars to get it and I have never sold an instrument before in my life. Even my wife says it sounds beautiful.
