2002 - Solid mahogany top, back, and sides (though the solid wood is a little thin). Auditorium body with cutaway and Fishman Prefix Plus electronics. The pick-up gives incredible versatility and a great acoustic tone. The Satin-finish is different, but I love it. While some dislike the lack of binding, I think the simple look gives this guitar a unique character. The soun-hole rosette is just a sticker, but guitar comes woth a great Martin case.

I lead worship at our church and play everything from alt-rock to hymns. This guitar is great for every style. I love the sound of this guitar without the electronics, but the Fishman electronics give you great flexibility, awesome sound, and I have yet to have a serious feedback problem. I play through an 80W SWR Strawberry Blonde amp, and have been pleased with the great sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Overall this guitar looks great. The satin finish is unigue and hard wearing, not shjowing fingerprints. The action is incredible... this is a very easy playing guitar. The frets were a little rough at the edges, but I had those dulle down cheap.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Martin has a great warranty, but there are loopholes! The wood on this guitar is very thin, so be careful. Mine fell about 1 inch (slipped off stand) onto a carpeted floor, and cracked under the pre-amp all the way to the neck. The luthier fixed it so you can't even tell it was cracked, but said the pre-amp had been overtightened and the wood had probably been bent while still green. Obviously, the fall was not Martin's fault, but the damage was deemed excessive by an experienced luthier. The finish and hardware all seem to be hard wearing.

I dealt with them briefly on the problem listed above. It took a week to respond to my e-mail, just to find out the warranty does not cover accidental damage, even though the damage may have been caused by a flaw in the guitar. However, their warranty still beats most out there.

Overall Rating : 9
I love this guitar. I have played Taylor's, Gibson's and Guild's in the past, and for the money I spent ($800), this guitar is just as good. Just don't let it slip and fall :)

Auditorium sized making it very comfortable to hold and play. All mahogony top, sides and back. Brown satin finish, you either like it or not (I love it). I give it an 8 for features for lack of binding and the decal soundhole rosette. Comes with Martin hardshell case. This model is a cutaway and comes standard with Fishman electronics. I purchased this for my 17 year old son at his request after comparison with the Taylor 314CE.

Sound : 10
Perfectly suited for Country Blues, Alt Country, Gospel and Praise/Worship. Its been said a million times the Martin 15 series is the best sounding and playing guitar for the money out there. I believe it. Plugged into a Fender Acoustonic Amp the guitar sounds like something out of heaven.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Guitar was setup by dealer with a medium low action to our liking. No flaws noticed, no buzz or noise. Completely satisfied.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Since I've owned a 000-15 for 2 years, I expect this cutaway to be just as durable and reliable. The satin finish holds up well but smooths where skin maintains contact. I personally like this because I also like finger oil stains on the fretboard from palying. Gives a guitar some character. I give a 9 because lack of binding could result in a dented edge if hit.

Customer Support : 10
Martin's lifetime warranty is legendary. I have heard far too many satisfied reports to doubt them.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing upscale Martins at the Music stores for awhile and thought that I would upgrade from my 000-15. I can't find anything worth the money difference. Martin did too good a job on the 15's. I would replace either one of these with the same.

2000 all mahogany cutaway with fishman electronics built in. Satin finish. The best way I can express my pleasure with this guitar is to say. I have played for thirty five years, and have 14 guitars. I have all the guitars since I was 8 years old. This is the most utilitarian guitar on the market. Wonderful projection whether its fingerstyle, or using a flatpick. A great blues guitar on stage and off. A friend was so impressed he went and purchased the same model.
we recently played at an open mic. This quitar knocked the socks off the musicians that were there in the audience. Not much to look at with its lack of binding, but I could care less how they look. When I picked it up in a store I knew this was different in its sound. In my eyes for less than 900$, it can outperform almost any guitar out there.
