This is a 1941 000-42. The fretboard is ebony with little wear. The
headstock is overlaid with rosewood. It has tons of features considering when it was built.

The 000 size is a great size for playing while seated. The sound is amazing for the body size, very rich and loud.

The fit and finish on the guitar are AMAZING. The quality of workmanship and woods can not be matched today for under $3,000. Some of the features cannot be matched at any price (ie. real ivory binding). The action is easy and low with no buzzing even after 61 years! The neck is also straight.

Because of the value of this guitar I would not use it for any type of playing that requires it to leave my house. However my greatuncle, whom I got the guitar from, used to play it live on the radio in the 1950's. The only real wear it has are some "buckle" scratches on the back of the body.

I can not rate this as a great value. One can find an awesome guitar for the more than $20,000 this instrument is worth. An old 000-42 would be more of an investment than a player. If this guitar were stolen, God have pity on the soul of the thief if caught. The one thing I do not like is that Martin glued the pick guards onto the body before finishing. This has given mine a small typical "pick-guard crack" common to older Martins.
