Slope Shouldered Dreadnought with a vintage tobacco burst satin finish. Forward shifted scalloped cross bracing which I???m sure improves the tone. It has maple inlays on the body, fretboard and sound hole, a martin like slim neck (rosewood fingerboard) with Grover Sta-Tite tuners, a solid Sitka spruce top (rosewood bridge), laminated mahogany (sapele) back and sides, and no electronics.
Sound
:10
I think the sound is quite unique. Compared to my Martin DM it is similar when played hard, delivering the ???bark??? or sound of a spruce/mahogany guitar. However, when played quieter or gentler it has the bass comparable to my old Gibson J45 which it has replaced. This is a warm and welcoming bass tone that both resonates and projects well. Essentially, it has its own sound which I think and hope will mature and improve.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
There was some sloppy workmanship back at the factory when the headstock logo was glued on, excess glue has stained the headstock below the logo, on a close inspection it lets the guitar down which is a crying shame, I love simple headstocks both in shape and decorations, although I can live with this, I will have to attend to it soon. That will be when I can put it down for a couple of days! The top could have also done with some more polishing but hey, it???s not a Huss or Santa Cruz so expectations must be realistic. The action is set nice and low, a few string buzzes occur when using a capo if you are not careful when fitting it but this can be said of other Guitars too.
Reliability/Durability
:No Opinion
I have not owned it long enough to vouch for its reliability although it seems so well built I???m certainly not anticipating any problems. It would withstand live playing without a doubt. Due to the light satin finish I???m sure the wear and tear will show. I am sort of hoping however, that it will. This guitar deserves to earn a character of its own, wear and tear will only add to its vintage focus. It would, and indeed will, make a great travelling companion and I will in no doubt take it with me on those inspirational road trips.

I???m in the UK and bought this Guitar second hand from a guy who imported it from the US. As yet no shop in the UK sells these Guitars so I have no expectations of customer support. If needs must though, I will contact them and I???m sure they will be helpful. I am encouraging them to find a UK distributor as I???m sure they would sell well by their own merits.

I bought this guitar impulsively because of the way it looks. I had viewed a few videos on the web and knew it did not sound bad but essentially the purchase was for aesthetic reasons, justified because ???it???ll look good on my wall???. In my opinion it looks better and is much easier to play (due to a slimmer neck) than my old Gibson J45. So imagine my delight when I discovered it was comparable in sound not only to my old J45 but also to my Martin. It loves the Em in any position and relishes the big G. It was practically new when I got my hands on it and with every session it appears to be ???opening up??? which is only encouraging me to play it more. It???s a shame that it lacks a pick up but before too long I???ll give it a Fishman. In the UK its competitors are Blueridge, Recording King, Takamine (G series), Epiphone and possibly Martin X series. All of which are left in the shadows by this handsome, great sounding and well priced gem of an Acoustic Guitar.

the satin finish is damn near perfect, it actually looks vintage, the sloped shoulders are super cool, and comfortable, it actually looks like a pre-war gibson to me, the tuners were not appealing to me at first, but i absolutley love them now, they stay in tune great, and i guess you simply cant beat grovers, the neck is super easy to play on,it fits my hand like a glove frets seem perfect.. solid top solid back solid sides.. awesome awesome awesome.. OH!>>> and all of the inlays in the fretboard, around the soundhole, and top and bottom of the body are maple, the detail is amazing..
Sound

the sound is crystal, thats all i can say, i played some of the lower end taylors, up to the 510, and i personally think this sounds equally as good.. it is plenty loud, great bottom end, and plenty of highs as well...

when i picked up the guitar at the store (competition music in fort worth tx) i was immidiately amazed by the set-up, usually when buying an acoutic, i would go ahead and add a hundred dollars to what i would already be spending for a set up, new strings, and a bone bridge and nut.. the string were a little light for my tastes but the action was really low (where i like it), and it felt as though had just been set up by a master luthier..

i am 28 , and have been playing since i was 5 or so.. i have always been on the hunt for quality guitars that dont break the bank, and this is certainly a leader in that dept. i am sure that morgan monroe guitars will make a name for themselves, and that you will have to pay top dollar for them very soon, so go ahead, and pick one up befor they change their minds.. i did not get the case which i now wish i had, the cases are AWESOME!! i this guitar were lost i would definately replace it, as a matter of fact i may buy a second just to have in case.. i love this guitar, i cant put it down, its a QUALITY instrument, something to hold, and hear age for a lifetime, like i mentioned before, go out, and play some taylors, martins, and gibson acoustics, and then play this guitar.. it will BLOW YOU AWAY!!
seriously, if your all about names, and have thousands to spend on instruments, then sure go buy a martin, but in my opinion this is the best guitar money can buy for the money, and i am a TONE JUNKY, i have been searching for this guitar for years.. glad i found it..

Solid spruce top, with soft shoulders like the Gibson AJ series(J-45 etc) Mahogany back and sides. Laminated yes but the finish is so thin this thing rings loudly!
Mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard and bridge with Rosewood bridge pins. Extra pins come with it. Nice touch.
Grover Sta-Tite tuners. Work Ok but I am going to replace them with something better. The ones on my guitar are not so good. They slip and weren't even screwed in all the way into the headstock.
Fab gator print case that is worth the price of admission.Really nice.
Nice frets and the wood body and neck binding is maple and Well done at that. Bone nut and saddle.
The beauty of this guitar is that it is so understated.Even the position markers are maple. Not a lot of Blueridge abalone and mother of toilet seat. Just all wood and steel.
Sound

This guitar has a very woody and open airy sound of mahogany. With a touch of Gibson as well as Martin. Unusual and very appealing.Very warm and loud! Rich and full in a Mahogany way. Not the tight focused sound of rosewood. But since it is mahogany it will have more of a bright D-18 with a touch of Gibson J-45 sound. It does not have the stifled tone of a Blueridge or any other Polyurethane coated guitar. Which to me is the Best thing for any guitar. I have a few old Guilds and an old Standell I love too.
I have used this guitar to gig with (I have a Baggs Ibeam Active pickup system in this) And it was stellar. In tone plugged in it was amazing. What a joy.
The Neck feels broke in already and the overall feel is trustworthy.
If I had one complaint it would be that there isn't more itme in the day to play it. Damn nice and fun to play for hours. the D shaped neck is very comfortable with out being too thin or thick and the fret work is superb. These guitars show that ya don't have to buy American. Yeah I know all about the American job situation. But if the CO's in America are so eager to ship their work overseas I don't feel so compelled to worry about what country it is made in. The fact remains it is a well built and strudy instrument that sounds like a million bucks for a song. and I am proud to own it.

everything on this guitar is superb. The Kerfing inside is tidy with no glue slop or untidy workmanship to be seen anywhere. %the maple body and neck binding give this guitar a very cool look and a nice vintage vibe. No sharp fret ends. The frets are well seated and the neck is straight and true. the bridge has a recessed area where the bridge pins live to increase the angle of the string thus creating more tension and better sustain.
The frets by the way, are stainless steel which means frets won't wear out for Lord knows when.
Fast and low playing, yet no "Boing factor" like so many of the guitars dipped in Polyester have. Beautiful rosewood headstock veneer too.

I have written to this comapny and they are really nice and open to discussions and willing to help in any way they can. They really have the player in mind.
Don't get me wrong they have their Poly models too that I do not like. But this Creekside series is amazing. Check em out and you will be impressed as can be.

Owning the MVS-45 is so much fun I am going to buy the MV-45 and possibly the MV-01 for my 8 year old boy. He is ready for a better guitar. This'll last him for quite a while then he can have one of mine.
Maybe. Maybe not. If these hold up and open up as well as they seem to be heading towards I will have to give him something else.
I have owned Blueridge, Gibson, Guild, Epiphone, And so on and so forth. this guitar is right there with the best.
I am at once impressed with the fit and finish, the tone the playibility and the case and anything else you might think of. The finish is so cool and very satiny. The neck is so sweet. I can see these taking off liketh Blueridge have. Only these are much nicer.
I like the Waldens too. But these have me hooked.

great for blues , bluegrass , and gospel music I enjoy.. has a very rich full sound. has mahogany back and sides but distinct sound very much like the road series Martins (i have one of those too)
very unique bridge pins made of some dark wood not sure what - I changed them to buffalo horn and seems the wood is better.
this guitar will already has a lot of sustain and should really ring after it is played for a while
neck is very similar to blueridge br-160 but the sound to me is better and fuller -
Definitely can use a clear pick guard - too nice a finish for hard strumming over naked wood - my only dislike at this point

I got this used believe it or not at a bargain price of $250 msrp is
519.00 and I am the second owner .
The fit and finish is excellent , I sold a vintage takamine in sunburst because it showed fingerprints so much - not so with the satin-
Has that "woody smell" that is kind of appealing too.
These come with vintage style open gear tuners - that work great but I prefer the modern style grover
frets, action all seem great - braces could stand some shaving it seems but I am of the mind "if it ain't broke don't fix it mind"
Reliability/Durability

have not had it that long but seems pretty durable - strap buttons are solid - stays in tune .
I am adding a clear pick guard asap to protect the finish .

been playing as a hobbyist for 40 years - recently started playing in church and stuff like that - I have a martin d-15 , two premium Jay Turser acoustics , and a bass electric .
I have had a takamine f340sd vintage , first edtion 1966 Yamaha red label fg180 , fg 230 12 . alvarez anniversary edtion , blue ridge br-60 and br-160 historic series
I would compare the MVS-45 to a martin road series sound - probably the one of the best guitar values around for under 500 -
before you pay for a " name brand " laminate guitar try one of these
the case alone is probably worth 150-250 that came with it
