On first picking up the Northwood R80 14-00, lightness of touch and feel, were the first things apparent to me. Fingerstyle playing felt very easy and rang out from this little guitar. The tonal range was surprisingly full. Yet it had a light, well defined sound.
Then out came the plectrum, my main tool for dancing on those vibrating strings. And to my ears, an even more appealing tone rang out from the littl???un. Vibrant and jaunty, clean and expressive, best describe how my ears perceive this Northwood???s sound.
It is very lively and expressive, being very resposive to vibrato etc.

This Northwood 14-00 was hand made by John McQuarrie, in Canada. The finishing and build quality, as with all John???s guitars, that I have seen/played, is first rate.
Superb finishing and wonderfully set up, to get that balance of ease of play, with quality of tone.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Although, small and lightly built, this is still a very solid, top quality guitar. Meant for playing, it will not let you down.

This guitar came with lighter strings than I am used to but they really suit this model. It rings out, with a lovely, high quality sound. It's not my loudest guitar but it's the easiest to play, yet retains a strength in it's feel and tone.
I mainly play behind my singing, with occasional melodic intros and mid-sections. This little 00 kind of, sings along with me. Which is pretty nice really.
