Great looking guitar. Electronic are all original and never had a problem. The fret board is maple, and it has a more mellow sound. Very basic, but takes care of teaching on the road, playing out in any situation I may be in.

I am a 47 life long guitar player that has been in many situations-Weddings, big band (Freddie Green, musicals clubs, acoustic jams-Styles-jazz, latin, finger style, folk, folk rock (loud with band) and classical. I owned this guitar for 12 years and would never sell it. My ovation is going through a Ultra Sound amp or my Trace Elliot. I have also gone direct through the board. The beauty of this guitar is that in a rock situation, it's easy to manage on stage to get a close or acceptable sound and get that loud acoustic sound. Also, I always refer to my ovation as the Strat of guitars. It's versitile for many situations like a Strat and rhythmic cut. To me there is nothing like using a mic to capture an acoustic sound unless you have the big bucks. What I don't like is battery location deep in sound hole.

I bought this guitar used and never made any adjustment. I love the action amplified or without.

This is a 1987 Legend acoustic/ electric, deep bowl, cutaway, with the op 24 eq system. Top is spruce, fretboard is ebony, bridge is walnut, with the usual 5 piece maple/ mahogany neck. This one is the natural finish. Has gold ovation/ schaller machines. The neck has a very nice "soft v" shape to it, which I like much better than the fat "c" shape of the new LX series.

Sound unplugged is OK, but much better plugged in to my Crate acoustic (CA 125DG) Ovations electronics are good quality & do the job. Has a unique amplified sound, unlike any other acoustic. Listen to Paul Simon in the Concert @ Central Park & you'll see what I mean.

I got it used, and it needed a lot of tweaking to get good action, but is great now. Fit and finish, as well as all materials are top quality, good ole "made in USA"

Been playing 35 yrs. or so. I have owned Martins, Gibsons, Taylors, Guilds, Yamahas, Blueridge, and lot of others -plus a ton of electrics. For the money this guitar is hard to beat. I don't like having 2 grand or more tied up in a guitar -it's just not worth it. There are plenty of good axes out there for under $500.00. This is one. --And probably about the best Ovation in this price range as well. If you're going to play much unplugged, be sure & get the deep bowl, and don't bother with Ovations that don't have electrics.
