Well, I downgraded from a taylor 414 to CDX24. I needed some extra $$ and a gig with electronics. This is my first ovation, so from all the comments about the 'plastic' back, I was expecting something horrible but others users kept reminding me of their plugged in capabilities. So I decided to take this leap of faith; while everyone was jumping out of the ovation boat; I jumped in. Sold my taylor on ebay and brought a used cdx24 at 1/3 of the price. Plugged in, the sound is clean and clear. You can really wack the gig and the gig still perform. Not as delicate as the taylor but just as easy to play and with a little EQ sounds just as great as any 1K - 2K gigs. Unplugged; its really not so bad. I was expecting some crappy sound... change the strings and did a proper setup and the gig is a joy to play. It not as liquid as a Larrivee nor as strong as a Martin but it is not half as bad. honestly I would say its about 75% close to my 414. Not too bad considering it cost on 30%. Korean made, but well made... hey it is a plastic bowl so its just glue. Not as temperamental as a taylor, I keep in on the stand (not in a case) and I find myself picking it up and playing it more. Overall, the sound is lacking in richness but it makes up for price, electronics and heck I started playing again without worrying about scratching the b/s. 7 for unplugged 9 when plugged in.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Well made, action is easily adjusted by removing the shins, smooth and thin neck.
Reliability/Durability

Back and sides are plastic so it can really take a beating. Unlike the delicate gigs, you can pick this up, play it and not worry about a thing.

I might buy a high end US gig again but with the quality of Asian gigs, I probably buy a collection of different body shapes and style. Definitely worth taking a look into; it grows on you!
