Deep bowl Ovation made in 1984 and retailed at around $500 then. I guess now (2007) you would be looking at around $1300.
I bought mine secondhand - I'm not good on woods but I'd guess the body is some sort of spruce. Rosewood fretboard.
Looks like all other Ovations with a sound hole in the middle. Tuners are made in West Germany and have a funny d marking- like a greek delta. 20 frets all in.
Piezoelectric pickup with a volume control-no tone etc and passive of course.

I mainly strum or use a plectrum to pick. Do sometimes finger pick. I play acosutic songs and pop/rock music.
The guitar has one sound unless you tweak the eq on your amp. Its the classic Ovation sound, bright with plenty of middle and bass - cuts through other intruments. You either love it or hate it. I love it hence the rating.
The pup is extremely powerful and it is quite easy to overdrive an amp which gives a nice "fuzz" sound- not one for acoustic purists but nice for a change.

The guitar is 23 years old so I can't make any comment about factory fit. Currently it has a nice low action and good frets. A few little knocks but nothing major. Doesn't look there has ever been any work to the bridge or nut. It is a survivor alright - clearly very well made.

After 23 years no issues so I reckon its good for years. Probably outlast me. I do use it without a back-up- I have total trust and faith in the guitar.

been playing for over 30 years- bass, electric and acoustic guitar. For acoustics I also own a Fender and a Faith which are both under-rated but, nevertheless, are extremely nice sounding, nice playing, medium-price guitars.
The Ovation is a joy to play, no controls to faff with, keeps in tune for months, sounds great. I would be very unhappy if it was lost/stolen/broken. They are very rare but I would do my best to find another. If I couldn't I would probably end up with a Balladeer
