Sitka Spruce, Mahogany back and sides, beautiful sunburst; tastefully simple, like it's designer Norman Blake. Everything is "vintage style" - waverly open back tuners, ivroid peg; 12 fret neck, deep body; pyramid bridge. I gave it a "9" for it's understated beauty

Ten, Ten, Ten: deep, rich, booming bass. Wow, the sound is unreal. Whoever tap tuned the top on this one knew what they were doing. I think the 12 fret neck helps out, as does the deep body (4")

Action was a tad high for my tastes but that was easy to fix. Frets were dressed to perfection
Reliability/Durability

No issues here. I especially like the fact that it does NOT have a slot head, which makes string changes a lot easier. Slot heads are cool looking but a pain in the hind quarters to mess with.

Call SCGC and chances are good you might get Richard Hoover answering the phone. This is my 3rd SCGC guitar so I am sold. One time I ended up talking to Mr. Hoover for over an hour, going on and on about all things "guitar"..now how cool is that

Hey, I paid almost 4 grand for this guitar so I am not sure how one qualifies "value". In my opinion, this guitar was worth every penny. Solidly built, well-designed, and beautiful sound. Excels for fingerpicking with a 1 13/16" nut width, even though Norman Blake is known for his flatpicking! My wife sometimes questions my sanity when I spend this much on a guitar...but hey, it's a lot cheaper than a woman on the side or a divorce lawyer!
