I got this Schecter SW-3500 accoustic/electric really by accident. I was working out a trade because the guitar store broke the neck on my D-35 Martin guitar. I accepted a Taylor, and this guitar after a new Takamine I originaly picked out did not set up or sound the way I wanted. I was leary of this guitar at first. It sounded great plugged in to my Peavy and Behringer amps, but a little twangy unplugged. However, after playing with it for 7 months, it seems it is broken in, and now has incredible tone unplugged. The finish is a pretty amber, woods are mahogany, and rosewood. The neck feels thin, and the action is low and perfect for my style of play. I play a little of everything, and whether I finger pick, flat pick, or strum, the guitar sounds fantastic now. After my Taylor 6 string and Alvarez AJ60SC 12 string, this is my favorite. I own 7 guitars, including Cordoba, Yamaha, and a Roger Fritz custom made. This guitar has all specs featured at the web site, including 22 frets, chrome tuning keys, and a Fisherman Classic 4 Piezo pickup. My guitar is a 2005-2006 model.

Sound : 9
As I previously stated, the plugged in sound was fine from the beginning, (Schecter's claim to fame is the electric and bass guitars) and after playing it for a few months, the sound and tone unplugged suddenly became very good. Good wood, broken in.... Bass is rich, treble and mid tones are crisp and clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was setup at the store by a professional musician from Nashville. I like low to medium action and the guitar is about as perfect as I could ask for. No buzz, easy chording and barring. I will keep this guitar long after I sell some of my other name brand guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would use this guitar without a backup. It is solid, with good hardware. I do not have a pick guard on this guitar, and still have no fear jamming on it. It sounds and looks great on stage. The finish seems durable, and the guitar really makes me feel like I have an "axe" in my hands.

N/A, and I pray I never need customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 20 years. I would probably replace this guitar only if I could find another like it. I have to be honest and state that I feel like for my style of accoustic play, I really enjoy my Martin D-35 and D-45, and the Taylor 914CE. The Alvarez 12 string suits me fine as well. I would buy the Schecter SW-3500 guitar for anybody as a gift. It is beautiful, sounds good, and is an excellent bargain for the consumer.

i do sunday service for my youth group im into Christian rock. from nice acoustic rock to alt. rock to a little bit of scream-o. this guitar sounds really well and meets all of my needs, and then some. it sounds great with power chords even when im playing non-acoustic songs. i also like to play country and other types of music on the side and i can play along with just about any music style and it souds great. it sounds equally well plugged up as it does purely acoustic. i have no dislikes. i know a ton of pros personally and that i've seen on tour use this guitar live and in the studio and they all love it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
no flaws to this guitar. everything was pretty well set up. even had pretty good strings on it.

1 thing is that schecter's website clearly says that they mmake a case for this guitar, but after i ordered it, it DID NOT fit. o, the hassels that caused. i'll touch on this later.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this guitar is fairly new to me but everything seems very sturdy. very nice strap butttons. finish seems nice, but i havent played it for many months yet. a backup acoustic in this case is unnecesary.

Customer Support : 2
schecter support is awful. i was very disappointed. it took days for them to actually answer the phone, but then after i had told them about how they misled me in buying the wrong case, they didnt offer any help, they only proved that it was thr wrong case. as if i coudnt figure that out on my own...

Overall Rating : 10
im only 14, but ive been playing for a while and im farily experienced with ohter gear. this guitar is the best acoustic ive ever seen or heard. absolutely gorgeous. prettier than any other electric or acoustic. that is my favorite fearture. if anything ever happened to it, id stock up with about 4 more of them just for fun and keep all them forever. theyre great. i comapred for months and im glad i decided to get this 1. better than the ibanezs and fenders and ovations i looked at. buy it. it wont dissappoint you.

I tried out every guitar in the store regardless of price. Was there all day. I wanted a guitar that was easy to play and sounded good. Price was a second factor. One guitar sounded better....unplugged and plugged....it was a Gibson at over $2000.00. There were many guitars to chose from, but for the money this was the KING! So I went with the SW-3500. I am a keyboard player and I can't play guitar for ****, but I know if I keep practicing.....in a million years I'll rip;-)

Sound : 9
Sounds unreal going through a Korg Wavestation A/D! (What dosn't...)
But lets face it....it ain't the guitar that sounds good as much as the player.....

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is too high....for me. But then the strings would have to be on the right fret at exactly the right time to be low enough for someone of my great guitar talent....so it's probably just right. I compared the 3500 with the Gibson and it was the same. Had there been any REAL difference worth noting that talent would not make up for....I would have let you all laugh at me and got the Gibson.....the 3500 sounded really good unpluged and only pluged in did the Gibson sound much better....this is a beach guitar and the lighter color (almost white) was a real concideration.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Will work as a paddle as well as any other guitar I guess, but better sounding and durabilty are like oil and water from what I know....seems well built w/grovers, fishman etc. Sounds very good so I take back the part about using it as a paddle....

Customer Support : 10
Easy Music Center in Hon rocks! Mainland mail order prices in Hawaii....better often. I lied about the price paid for the SW 3500 to protect the innocent....

Overall Rating : 10
Bang for the buck, this guitar rules! I did notice a difference in quality between two SW-3500s. One had 1 fret that chipped the neck binding, (or was chipped in the store or shipping), the neck binding was a little bit rough in one spot with dirt coloration for about an inch in length (could be polished out), and the biggest flaw was if you looked inside the guitar you could see the hole in the bracing for the truss rod was not cut out perfectly like the other with a small piece chipped out and one (small) drip of glue could be seen inside....this guitar sounded better at first, but after tuning them both the same, it was really hard to tell them apart and I ended up liking the other ones tone better so I went for that one. (Intonation seemed great on both, but I was not using a stobe tuner.) It too had three (lesser) flaws keeping this guitar from being perfect. One is a very slight 3/16 inch long x 1/16 inch wide dimple in the reflection off the binding on the neck were it meets the body of the guitar; at the bottom of the neck (under the strings looking at the guitar upside down) were it joins the body there is (was) a piece of dust flack that got in the finish of the bottom neck binding; and the piece of wood picked to use for the tail stop has a slight 3/16 inch long grain flaw that looks like a small crack in the very bottom corner edge...it's not a crack, but because the grain is wider here it looks like it might be a crack (if you look at it with a microscope!)I easily removed the dust flack from the bottom with an exacto knife and polished it and now it looks perfect...(talk about nothing better to do with my time!) The other two minor flaws are a blessing because I can tell my 3500 apart from another 3500 so don't steal it or I'll find it!
It's amazing how good guitars are now made in Korea and other locations that are producing some really good stuff. That's one reason I got into guitars. For less than the price of one 76 key Korg Triton Extreme I got seven guitars and two amps! Now I have good excuse to learn to play;-)
BTW....bass is harder than it looks...thought it would be easy. Getting rid of 4 string after trying out both 4 & 5 string bass. IMHO it's only true a 5 string is harder to play if you are used to a 4 string. Other wise 5 string is easyer cause you get to work in a smaller "box". You should see/hear Hutchie Boy play the 8 string Schecter bass.....man that guy is good!

Aloha All!

Korean-built 2004 Schecter SW-3500 acoustic guitar. 21 frets. Fishman Classic 4 piezo pickup has controls for 3-band EQ, brilliance, and volume. Quilted maple top, mahogany fretboard, South American rosewood sides and back. Cutaway shape. Grover tuners.

Sound : 9
After playing a few open chords and being duly impressed by its sound, I played some modern rock / alternative and I seemed to find a perfect match. The guitar isn't as bass-heavy as some others, but that's not to say it has no bass response at all. Chords sound full and rich and surprisingly good for the price paid. I play everything from fingerpicked Jars of Clay to worship to Chevelle on it. It gets many compliments on its tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar was PERFECT when I got it! The action was set *exactly* how I liked it, and the intonation is likely the best I've heard to-date (I'll impress friends by playing open strings and the 17th or 19th fret at the same time and in tune.)

Aside from that, the guitar is simply gorgeous. The finish is quilted maple with a natural-toned color. There have been people who stopped mid-conversation to gasp and say "THAT is a beautiful guitar!" They're exactly right.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've played a few longer sessions with this guitar in a group setting and the guitar (of course) held up fine. The guitar seems very durable and dependable. Nothing seems loose or flimsy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the company, but the guitar comes with a lifetime warranty. I had a friend who had a problem with the volume jack of his Schecter electric, but that was taken care of without any hassle.

Overall Rating : 10
I've only been playing 2.5 years, but that's a surprise to everyone who finds out. If this guitar was stolen, I'd probably buy another - they're a steal for the price. I love the action, the wonderful intonation, the gorgeous finish and the rich sound. If you listen at a certain angle, a somewhat "can-like" sound can be heard, but I'm assuming that it will likely lessen as the guitar gets worn-in. I chose this guitar because it handles alternative/modern rock/punk beautifully and licks transfer well between it and my electric.

Try one out, if you can find one. They'll impress you.
