Solid cedar top. Solid Magohany back, laminated mahogany sides. Satin finish. I added a pick guard (come on Seagull, what are you thinking!)

Competes with any guitar in its size category and then some other larger sizes. I mean Larrivees, Martin, etc. Compete package when set up right and the right strings. I have tried to replace this guitar several times with other more expensive guitars and they have all failed. Great for finger style. You can pound on it too. (Be gentile of the cedar top!)

Great craftsmanship. My only wish is that it had a high gloss top and body. That would be the perfect guitar.

Keeps working fine. The soft cedar top is the only concern. I have actually created a split on the back by over tuning it (electronic tuner was set to the wrong frequency and I was drunk!) Anyway, super glue and a few swear words later, it was back to great sound. I have had it for over 5 years. It is a blem....not the artist neck, but the basic neck was installed (although it did have the nicer head stock.)
If you pamper your guitars, keep it in the case when not using it, use a hard case not a cheap soft case she will do fine. I have cracked mine and it has several marks on the top because of me scratching it with my fingernails, or the 2 year-old has left his mark on it while I was playing. If she hadn't been marked already when I got her, I most likely would be very carefull of the cedar top. But heck, it is marked and so I have relaxed and pound on it all I want to.

I really love this guitar. I won't get rid of it. I Blues, folk, country, rock...it has a sound that can be there. If you put an LR Baggs LB 6 pickup on it, watch out, the band members will be asking you to turn the volume down on her because they will be drowned out.
If I lost it, or if it were stolen, I would replace it with a used one so I could treat it like this one. If you are a neat freak and are into
real showy equpment keep moving. If you want fantastic sound, don't care a hoot about alabone stylings and want a smaller bodied guitar with guts....here you go.

you get the choose of i think 3 EQ's to come with it, i just got the cheapest one beacause i wanted something but didnt want to pay the money...it has no gloss on it or at least barely any at all which is nice because then it lets the sound out a lot more. The action was nice and low but not to low as to cause buzzing from the strings and i found do dead frets on it anywhere. It came with a hard shell guitar case which of couse was nice.

The sound is unbelivable for the price, nice rich sound to it with good sustain. And like i said earlier the action was nice and low so it was easy to move around the neck. Playing through and amp its excellent. The eq worked great and the sound was sweet. I played it through just a regular keyboard amp and it still sound great.

Acton was great, so far i havent been able to find any flaws on it.But there was nothing really fancy about it except the seagull on the 12th fret and at the top of the neck which does add to the finish

This is one of the best qualitys. So far i have picked up the case but i forgot to latch it so the guitar flipped right out and banged up against a wall but all i could see for damages was a small scratch in the guitar and some broken dry wall on the ground. Its also been dropped out of the back end of a bronco(which sits pretty high up) and once opened played just as well as before.

Ive been playing for about 2 years now and so far this is the best guitar i can find for the price. Any other guitar ive found for this price just dosnet have the same sound or same features to this. I would buy this guitar again in an instant if it were stolen because of the rich sound and sustain it has although i might go one step up on the eq but that would be the only change.

2001 model by Lasido - Canada. Solid cedar top, solid mahogany back, and laminated mahogany sides. Came with LR Baggs Micro EQ installed and hard case. Abalone/pearl seagull inlay on head and neck. The action is low w/o being buzzy. Body style is between a grand concert and a dreadnaught.

Here's where this baby excels! Sounds great even without the EQ - better than a lot of Martins I've played (including my DM). Great resonation and sustain w/o being "boomy". Well-balanced from bass to trebel, and AWESOME for fingerstyle, though she strums great too!

What can I say - it's a cedar top, so leave it in the case if you want to keep it perfect. The fit and finish is great, but the cedar WILL get scratched (I know because I have a Seagull Grand too, and I just ignore the bruises on the top). No flaws that I can see...

Minus the aforementioned softness of the cedar (not a bad tradeoff for the brightness that results), I don't foresee any problems. Seems to be sturdy for such a light guitar.

I've been playing for about 2 years but gotten serious just the last few months. My other guitars are a Martin DM and a Seagull Grand. I like the others, but wouldn't trade this folkie for the 2 of them!
If it were stolen I'd buy another so quick my wife's head would spin (then she'd spim mine:-). It's no fancy guitar, but just what I like!
For the $$$ you won't beat it.

I purchased this guitar about 18 months ago. The sound was OK when I purchased it, but the sound has improved significantly over time. The sustain is amazing especially for a guitar in this price range. I recently have considered upgrading and have found the tone and sound on this guitar to be the equal of much higher priced Taylors and Martins. I play mainly fingerstyle and the guitar has a very even tone form bass to treble. It also strums very well for a somewhat small bodied guitar.

I can't speak for the factory, but the set up as performed by the store where I purchased it was excellent. They have you bring the guitar back after a month and they re-check the set up and put fresh strings on it at the same time (great customer service). The finish is OK, although I would have preferred gloss. The cedar top is very soft (duh) and requires care. The wood quality appears to be very good. There is no excess glue around the bracing, nor other finish flaws noted.

I have been playing about two and a half years. As previously mentioned, I play mainly fingerstyle and with the wide (1.8") this guitar works great. For strumming with a flat pick, it would help if there was a pick guard, but I don't use a pick at all so it doesn't matter to me. When purchased, I compared this guitar to entry level Martins and also Larrivees. This guitar was equal or better in my opinion to those. If it were lost or stolen, I would probably buy a much more expensive guitar to replace. This is not a knock on the Seagull, just that I may want something on the higher end of things.

made in canada. solid cedar top (spruce is prettier, in my opinion), solid mahogany back, laminated mahogany sides. mahogany neck. satin finish. made in mid-2000. wide neck, 1.8". this is basically a fancy version of the S6+ folk model, with a solid back and better cosmetics that add maybe $200 to the total cost. i had decided to get a seagull as they are often recommended as the best "bang for the buck" and it was worth it to me to get the cosmetic upgrade as i think the regular S6+ folks look funky with the red stain cherry backs. it was hard as hell to find -- i had to find the seagull rep for my area (by contacting seagull) and he found a store that had one in stock. S6+ folks are much more common. total price included a flat top case -- i would have preferred a nice arch top but no upgrade was possible.

i'm a beginner, bought this guitar after playing for about a month on an old epiphone. now have had it about 4 months. i played (or hacked might be a better description) on a number of different guitars including some $3000 martins before buying this one. i could not tell much difference in the way they sounded, so i decided to not invest over $500 or so in a "starter" guitar as i could not tell the difference.

neck had tiny bit of backbow that my instructor easily fixed. he says the neck is better than the neck on his $4000 electric jazz guitar. there are a couple of very small cosmetic blems on the guitar that i did not notice for a couple of months, even when looking at it very closely. while i could not hear a difference in sound from one guitar to the other, i definitely could tell a difference in the feel of the necks and i liked the wider neck on the seagull.

i've been playing about 6 months now. since getting this guitar, i bought a baby taylor as a "travel" guitar. i think the bt is an even nicer guitar for the money (i only paid $280 for it, with hardshell case). i really like the simple look of the seagull, and the wide neck. if it were lost or stolen, i might buy another however i would take a very close look at some of the martins in the $500-700 range first. the local selection of martins is very limited (this is bluegrass country eg dreadnaught land, and i wanted an om body style) and i found their huge number of different models quite confusing when i was shopping on the www. the more opinions i hear from experienced players martin seems to be the coveted brand and i like the lifetime warranty.
