I was prompted to do this review due to the bad numbers it has recieved.
Bought new in 2008. Cutaway version. Godin Quantum II electronics. Solid everything.
You want more info then go to the site.
I gave it a 8 for features just because, I guess.
Sound
:

Sound is superb. I play my own stuff mainly. Could be described as Alternative Folk Rock. A bit of fingerpicking here and there but mostly using a regular pick. It does the job quite nicely. Sound could be descibed as sweet with a subtle growl to it. And through a decent amp it sounds just as good, maybe even better. It doesn't sparkle like other high end guitars but thats why I love it so much. Like I said before: subtle.
Action, Fit, & Finish

It played fairly well out the gate. Action maybe a little high. Sometimes my hand starts to cramp when playing a lot of barre chords but hey, the thing doesn't buzz so it's a trade off.

The electronics were a bit fickle. They would cut out if I jiggled the chord. Problem with the input. I took it back to the shop and they fixed her up. No other issues so far after 1/2 a year.

I knew I wanted a Canadian made guitar. Sure it cost me but I refuse to buy a classic instrument such as this, from China. I tried out a bunch of different kinds and was originally gonna buy the Seagull Cameo(not subtle sounding.) Obviously I changed my mind. I still plan on getting the Cameo for diversity's sake when I gather some more funds.
Anyway, the Mosaic is a really great guitar and, for what you're getting, a very fair price.
If you wanna see it in action online then youtube "Worthy Company" Isn't self-promotion grand?

I play fingerstyle folk-blues and slide. It had a dead 2nd string which was very irritating, but having just restrung it, sounds ok now.
It has a nice bright sound, and the guitar copes with both quiet and loud playing.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

It has a good action, and I like the wide neck. All parts are well made, though I don't like the silly shaped head, plastic tuners or the brown sides. Viewed from the front, without seeing the head, it's beautiful. Viewed from the side, with the head showing it's horrible.
The fret dots are on the side of the neck, not in the centre, so it's easy to make fretting errors when you're playing.
Reliability/Durability
:

I've had no problems with denting mentioned by others. It still looks brand new, and has withstood several bumps without marking. It is dependable, though changing strings is made difficult by the plugs slipping out of the string holes very easily (don't know the technical terms). Keep your face well clear until strings are fully tuned.
I haven't gigged since 1975, but would take the Seagull if I get the urge again.

I've not dealt with Seagull, but had major problems with the supplier. They delivered the wrong model (the top of the range semi-acoustic, which sounded and looked awful!). The replacement was delivered on the wrong day, and they had to reorder the Artist, which took several weeks.
The shop was actually very apologetic, and gave me 2 sets of Martin strings as compensation.

I've been playing for 38 years. I have a Simon & Patrick 12 string, and National Resophonic Polychrome Tricone.
I like the action and wide neck on the Seagull, hate the sides, head and tuners, and fret dots being in the wrong place.
I wish I'd bought a Martin 000-15S, but foolishly listened to the reviews saying the Seagull sounded better than a Martin for half the price.
If it was stolen, (as long as they left the National Tricone behind!), I'd smile, claim on the insurance and buy a Martin 000-15S and a National Resophonic Delphi.

This is a 2006 Seagull Artist Mosaic. Paid about $700, with case. Cedar/Mahogany with solid top/back, and laminate sides, without electronics. Looks okay.. Comes with this "hard-case" gig bag thing that I think is pretty cheesy.. But then.. I dont play the case. Seagull inlays are nice..
I play fingerstyle, but had decided that I wouldnt be happy with the smaller body guitars, OMs and the like. And what I wanted was dred or a jumbo with a wider neck than my Martin D-35
Sound

The sound of this guitar is really interesting. It blew me away in the store.. which is why I took it home.. I have to say it rivals my 30 year old D-35 in volume, but the tone is quite different betweent the two. THh Spruce/Rosewood D-35 has a "softer" more pure tone.. The Cedar/Mahogany Seagull has a 'woodier" sound .. sometimes seems sort of "growling" to me.. Great projection, can really grab you when you play it.. Hard to put it down when you in the mood for that sound.. Trebles just ring.. Ths is a VERY responsive guitar.. Much more so than any I have tried in that price range..
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Action is okay... could be a little lower but Im liking it fine. Finish is good really, top quality throughout..
My only complaint is the softness of the finish. AS others have said.. it is VERY soft..
I play fingerstyle, and as I look at this guitar after a month.. I see little marks all over where I usually rest my little finger.
So I think this will be a Willie Nelson guitar in no time at all..
BUT... I am so intrigued by the sound.. and considering what I paid for it.. that it doesnt bother me. I didnt buy it to look at it. So ny lower rating is for the softness of the top, everything else is great for a $700 guitar

See above..
I do think the guitar will hold up structurally, and it does have a lifetime warranty... but like others have noted.. the top dings really easily..

Ive been playing since.. a loong time ago. Since 1974, my only acoustic was a Martin D-35, which sort of became the standard to judge all others by.
I must say I am very satisfied with this guitar. Its not top of the line.. but I didnt pay $2000-$3000 for it either. It has great sound, is way too much fun to play.. I have no complaints, and Im glad I bought it.. Liked this Seagull so much, I'm looking into purchasing the Studio model(Spruce/Rosewood) model as well.

2004 model made in Canada. The Seagull Artist Mosaic has a solid cedar top, solid mahogany back and neck. The sides are mahogany-maple-mahogany. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The finish is a fair hand polished lacquer. Seagull logo on the headstock and on the twelth fret. Gold Seagull tuners with white plastic knobs. Dreadnought body style. One strap button. Double action truss rod. Slightly wider neck than most dreadnoughts which is great if you play fingerstyle or have large fingers.LR Baggs pickup system mic and undersaddle.

The sound was impressive at first, the reason I bought it is that it was the best sounding under a grand acoustic/electric in the shop. I use a Fender acoustasonic SFX2 for an amp. The wide neck is ok but throws you off if you switch to a standard neck. After playing it for a year I will say that the pickup system gets a 2 the mic is useless you can only turn it a fraction each way before it starts big-time feedback. The cedar top has not got any better sounding, kind of flat and dull sounding, I have replaced the saddle with bone and it helped by adding sustain and a little ring, still I doubt I will ever buy a cedar top again. Long live spruce top rosewood body

Factory setup was ok, action ok, guitar did not have any defects that where apparent in the store after a year it is still in one piece.
Here's the big complaint, the finish is horrible the lacquer is hair spray thin that offers no protection at all the cedar is as soft as balsa wood, it dents if you breath on it hard, after a year it is my most beat-up guitar (out of 13) and it has never left my house and I am very gentle with it but Willie would be proud. The lacquer on the neck was so thin that and the very pourus mahogany was not filled properly so that you could feel grain lines when you play. I had to refinish the neck using a grain filler then lacquer and it is much more playable now. They did not fill the grain on the rest of the guitar, just a very very thin coat of satin lacquer, should sound great but offers no protection.

I just don't see how this thing could stand the rigors of live playing unless you don't care how your guitar looks (i.e. Willie) but I do, the finish makes it look like a tramp and unfortunately the sound doesn?t make up for the looks, I put a strap-lock button on it so the strap wont fall off. Seems like a dependable guitar except for looks and as long as you don't use the pick-up mic feature. I might use it as a third back up if there was nothing else to play and I would apologize for the appearance.

Hey they don't cover the finish, if they would have taken the guitar back and refinished it with a gloss finish I would have used them but I voided my warranty (by choice) so I could refinish the neck so I could play it with out getting angry, I could feel the grain on the neck (not smooth). If I broke a tuning peg I would purchase an after-market one. I don't even want to deal with them. The low mark is for no e-mail support.

I have been playing now for five years, practice evryday (late bloomer im 45)
I have 8 electircs(am strat, lp jr special plus jr, guild starfire3,ect) and 5 acoustics (Taylor, washburn, fender, crafter for camping and the seagull) all in very nice shape except for the seagull
I wish I would have known the pitfalls of thin satin finish and a soft cedar top, I would have upgraded at the time, as it is I won't take it out in public. If it where stolen I would pity the fool, if it where lost I would not be heart broken, would I buy it again.... Not a chance.
I hate the finish... the sound is ok to good for a under a grand guitar pluged in it is only marginal and forget the mic. I wish it would have had a big warning sticker about the soft top and thin satin finish.
Ok here's the coolest part, I got so tired of the dull beatup look that I bought a Taylor 810ce L7 2004 limited edition with solid spruce top and cocabola back and sides with figured maple binding and stripe down the back. Best playing, best sounding, best looking guitar I have, worth every penny and I have never looked back, hey but I still play the seagull too.

The cedar top and its finish totally sucks. It sounds good and everything, but is VERY easy to dent. VERY VERY SOFT. Already has a million dents in it from being lightly scratched by my pick. Or fingernail.

Awesome sound. I picked it among similarly priced guitars only because of its sound. Very good for picking, strumming. Sound is bright, but not too bright. Not too boomy either (i dont like boomy anyways). Also not too good for palm muted strumming. You just have to be more carefull with the way you play it palm muted to get good sound.
Pickups and the onboard preamp were a big dissapointment after a while. Extemely prone to feedback. The freq. knob is useless (it just causes more feedback and unnecesary sensitivity when not set in the middle.). Other than that, though, it sounds very nice
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Action - excellent
Playability- excellent
Everything -excellent,
Except the finish - VERY easily damageable.
The onboard pream was bolted on poorly and vibrated for a while. Also sometimes, there are buzzzing sounds (when played loud on low stings(maybe poor bracing inside).

Finish, as already mentioned - totally sucks.
The output jack unscrewed one time. So the music fixer-guy at the shop had to put an extra washer inside the guitar to keep it sturdy.
The pickups though, vere very reliable. Never went out on me.

Did not try to deal w/ company yet. Was going to complain about finish but they mentioned in the manual something about finish being excluded from warranty. Besides they only have a snail mail adress anyway.

Played for over a year. Like it, but probably would look for something else sometime down the road. The pream system is too cheap. The plastic knobs suck. The only thing thats actually good about the guitar (which is kind of important, but so are other things) is the sound. Looks - not too impressive.

The bass is very warm without being boomy and the trebles are bright and beautiful. This guitar has a very full and rich voice. It sounds great when played soft to hard.

The action is slightly higher than I wanted which can be lowered but it is still lower than I am used to and I have no problems playing it. Not sure if I will have the action lowered. I am pleased with the guitar the way it is set up.
The finish is beautiful and being a hand polished lacquer will allow the cedar top to age as it should.

This guitar seems to be built as solid as one can be. The cedar, of course, is very soft and easily dented and you have to be careful with it. With proper care it should last a lifetime.
I bought this guitar on sale and it was the floor model and has probably been played by many differant people. I never expected to buy a floor model but I see no problems with this guitar and do not regret the purchase. I have had this guitar for 6 weeks and have played it at least 4 hours every day since and have not found any problems.
I do not play gigs but I believe this guitar would withstand live playing very well. I play with and for family and friends with almost never any backup and everyone loves the way this guitar sounds.

I have been playing for over 30 years. I've owned acoustics from Eko, Fender and a couple of lesser known brands. I spent the last 6 months researching guitars and going to differant music stores playing Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, Ovations, Takamine and many other brands before settling on a Seagull. I found that the sound of a Seagull was exceptional for the price and very well built.
I expected to have to pay twice as much for a guitar that sounds this great.
I play country, bluegrass, soft acoustic rock some classical but mostly fingerstyle. When playing fingerstyle, I play up and down the neck and this guitar delivers.
The tuners seem to be smooth and stable but I don't much like plastic knobs but I have had no problems with this guitar staying in tune. For the price, sound and overall quality, I can live with the plastic knobs. They could be replaced if needed.
I am very happy with this guitar and would definitely replace it if lost or stolen.

This is a 2003 model Made In Canada, solid spruce top, Mahogany Sides & Back. Nice gloss finish. Dreadnaught style with tortoise pickguard.
It has these gold type tuners with SHITTY plastic knobs! Get real LaSido! 'You want us to spend $1000+ on your guitars and you give us these garbage tuners?....it's like buying a top notch airline ticket and having to sit on a wooden crate in executive class!' Wake Up!
Has a nice mahogany neck. LaSido has finally realized that they needed to brace the tops of their guitars (at least the Seagull Models)so they don't cave in and turn into crap and they even changed the bracing to scalloped...bravo! You're finally waking up in this area!

Nice gloss finsish. Why do they put the dots on the fingerboard on the edge? Fuck, just put them in the middle like everyone else and give it a more balanced appearance! It has a nice bird inlay on the 12th fret so why fuck it up with the off centered dots?
