Ok This Guitar is great,or as my grandpa (who owns a 40 something J-45)put it "a nice little box".would have been a ten if solid sides but thats being picky.
I bought it in'96 but I was in the shop drooling over it in '95.
it was made in Canada and has a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back, laminate mahogany sides, three piece mahogany neck and a cutaway. Originally no pickup but I had seagull install them later. It now houses an LR Baggs ribbon transducer and ribbon transducer interface. Beautiful gloss finish on a dreadnought cutaway. 1 7/8" width at the nut.

Sound is personal. Personally great for fingerstyle, flatpicking or rhythm which are my three genres. I sometimes run the pickup through a Baggs Para Acoustic DI and then into a PA but mostly through a Peavey Ecoustic 112 with a Zoom 504 acoustic pedal. Both sound great. I would say it has a full mellow sound when played softly, great volume and very rich tone acoustically. Bluegrass blues gospel pop. If you have the ability this guitar has goods. Love the sound especially when the strings get good and broke in.

Set up great, action low enough for fast runs high enough for good rhythm and power. There is one unsightly glue blob on the inside not terrible but it is there. Top is beautifully bookmatched and gloss finished. Top and back are bound in an creme/ivory colored plastic. And my particular Seagull has beautiful multicolored herringbone band with b/w/b rings inside and out for the rosette. A featur not found on all Seagulls.

Yes its durable,Played it live three times a week since I purchased it in '96 and I'm still playing it. It has been borrowed for live gigs and came home in tune! No pick guard Which I love foe aesthetics but the finish is showing some wear but who wouldn't after eight years of steady playing.I had to ad a button on the heel and they both have never let me down. This guitar can be depended on and yes I'd use it without a backup everytime.

Heres a quick example of customer support. Guitar fell face down two stairs off a rumbling stage( Gospel campmeeting )and the neck snapped. Seagull covered the neck under warranty. The guitar was sent from Burlington, NC to La Patrie, Quebec, Canada and back again.(It was at this time I ordered the electronics) The guitar arrived in excellent condition and in reasonable time. Not sure how long the warranty is but obviously it is a good one!

Been playing now for ten years, I own and play a Kentucky Mandolin, a Takamine G-230, A Rogue( house brand for Musicians Friend )resonator banjo, an Epiphone Les Paul played through a Behringer Vampire amp. Also the ecoustic 112, d.i. box and pedal alluded to earlier. I would replace it only with one of the same or higher quality, nothing less would do. It was compared to Tacomas which are great, Takamines, one Gibson and a few entry level Martins. This won my heart. Plan someday to go with the Baggs I beam system other than that I'll sick with Seagull.

Im not sure the year, but they dont make them anymore. Solid Cedar top and all mahogany sides, back and neck. The inlays are attractive, small dots at the top on the fret board instead of the typical fats one in the middle. Theres no pickup in it, but thats the way i like it. Its not a taylor or a gibson so theres no expectation of pearl or abalone but the woods are stunning. I rather like the cutaway which you cant get on any of the Mseries anymore, it allows you to get all your frets in use. The best part is its made in a small Quebec township. Go Canada.

I play a lot of slow smooth strumming music (the rain song, zeppelin) and a bunch of picking (just a phase, incubus, stairway) it suits any kind of music you want to play. I said it wasnt a gibson or a taylor for flash and looks, but it sounds literaly just as good. Its got great sustain and is really easy to hold the sound unlike many shit guitars that ive encountered when you can only get your high e to not buzz when you play it open. a really full rich sound. i have apsolutely no dislikes

it has a really low action and plays clean all the way up, which is grand. the figuring on the back is just amazing. soooooo very nice, i love it. no factory flaws at all, and stays in tune very well.

this guitar has held up so far to being owned my me, and im a clumsy bastard, so i think it'll hold up til the end. theres no pick guard on it though, i like the look soo much better but you can see little scratches in the finish when you hold it to the light just right, one of those invisible clear plastic pick guard dealys might be recommended. it stays in tune so well, i can go weeks without touching the tuners and it will still be right on. plus, when i restring it, i only need to tune it once or twice. i think this is cause of the angled neck maybe?? no sure, and i really dont care as long as it stays the way it is. very dependable

Personally this is the greatest of all guitars. ive played 2000-3000 acoustics and this guitar sounds as good and in some cases better. factor in the price and what more can you want. If you need a flashy inlayed guitar to cover up for no talent, by yourself something expensive (not that im smashing martins or gibsons), but if you want some thing that looks good and sounds better (and you dont have thousands to spend) find yourself a seagull and you wont be disapointed.
