The fretboard connects to the body at the 14th fret (which i prefer), it has mahogany sides and back and a cedar top. I couldn't find the nut width on the Seagull website or anywhere else, so i measured it myself and it's around 1.8 inches. No electronics. For the rest of the specs. check someone else's review. The guitar looks very stark but has a beautiful simplicity that i enjoy.

Sound : 10
When I first got the guitar (from Musician's Friend.com) the sound was a little dull, but after a month or so, I replaced the Godin Phosphor Bronze strings with some D'Addario light guages and now it sounds extraordinary. It has a loud sound that response well to fingerpicking and lighter strumming, but can get a little twangy if flatpicked hard. The lower ends are very full, but the high extremes can be a little quiet. For the price range, the guitar sounds astounding. I haven't played a different guitar that i thought sounded as good for under 1500$. For the 400$ price, the sound is absolutely superb.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I bought this from a website, so i was pleasantly surprised when it arrived rather properly set up. The action is just a tad high for my comfort, but not enough to be bothersome. Everything else seems flawless.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I have a minor problem in this category. A couple day after I received the guitar, my brother caused a chip in the finish near the bottom of the body. However, I wasn't around at the time, so i can't be sure if it was because the lacquer was too weak, or my brother really just pounded on it, so, no opinion.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never actually dealt with Seagull, or the parent company, LaSiDo. I did get a 2 year warranty from MusiciansFriend.com, though.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing over a year, but i've gotten serious the last few months. If this guitar were stolen, i would save up for a few years and buy a Cervantes' Carlos Pina Rodriguez (classical), but it costs a few thousand more than my Seagull did. I've compared this to a Washburn 120th Anniversary, and a Larrivee OM-03. I find that my Seagull has better tone and setup than the Washburn, but the Larrivee is better, hands down, then the Seagull (which grates, too, cuz' my brother got it half off for 600$). On the whole, though, the Seagull is a fantastic deal.

Canadian guitar. Solid cedar top. No electronics. Top : Solid Cedar

Back & Sides : Mahogany

Neck : Mahogany

Fingerboard & Bridge : Rosewood

Tusq? nut and compensated saddle

Finish : Semi-Gloss Lacquer

Sound : 10
I play country blues, rock, reggae/ska, and folk. This guitar is most suited to folk and blues. I prefer this one for fingerstyle vs. strumming. I would say this guitar has great volume. I feel it projects well. And sounds clean. I have a more expensive acoustic/electric Takamine that does not sound as good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it online and fortunately the action was great. No additional set up required. Flawless.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a solid guitar. I've banged it up a lot over a year and a half. and even accidentally melted some of the gloss finish. It plays better than ever.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to deal with them. So, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt!

Overall Rating : 10
I've played my M6 GT for a year and a half, everyday. It served it's purpose quite well and now I'm ready to move on. I recently upgraded to a Takamine EG523SC for it's cut away and electronics and a narrower neck. The Tak isn't as good for blues/folk but overall it fits me like a glove. The Segull just couldn't evolve with me for it's lack of electronics and lack of a cut away. However, I would still highly recommend it for a serious beginner. Honestly, I still enjoy fingerpicking very much on it even today inspite of my increased knowledge and honed playing style.

Better then the Martins and Taylors I played that day.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The gloss top does the trick , and remember this is a Lacquer sprayed , over 8 coats ,sanded in between . The action was a bit high , easy fix.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Nothing has gone wrong so far. Seems very solid.
Well made no doubt about it.

The dealer I bought it from has been great.

Overall Rating : 9
I have played on and off for more then 25 years , and gone through at least 15 guitars.
You know how it goes , Oh this one is made by ?XYZ? and its so fine ETC. Any way like most of you out there , I am not a ?fortunate son? so only Martin?s I have played were owned by friends or the local store. Be that as it may , I have played a large number of good guitars in my time.
So I finally accumulated a small stack of cash and went looking for a , Martin / Taylor / Gibson . Thats when I saw this (unknown to me) Seagull guitar , and sat down and played a few chords. That was all she wrote . I own it , I play it every day.

Overall an 8 for my preferences, but a 10 for the price range.

Seagull really stepped it up this year for this model. It now boasts cream binding (instead of a darker brown) and a bordered (wood) headstock. Let alone the feature added in recent years to the Cedar/Mahogany model: compound curve top, Adirondack spruce braces (!), gloss top and headstock.

I love the shape of the neck - thin near the top and gradually thicker as you go down toward the body.

Solid cedar top (wonderful grain) and great looking laminate b/s. I love the wide fretboard as well. It is very comfortable for fingerpicking.

Sound : 9
I play virtually all styles and many techniques from strumming, fingerpicking, flatpicking, ....

Volume is huge, dynamics are great, and the tone and sustain rival that of a $2000 instrument. Bass is round, but balanced to the rest of the range. Mids are crisp, and trebles lack tinnyness.

This is my third one of this model..yes..third. I keep trading in thinking a more expensive insturment would satisfy. I keep coming back for the tone and feel. Granted, this particular one sounded a bit better than most seagulls I have played, but all in all the new seagulls have incredible tone and features - especially for the price point.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
A bit more glue inside the box than my earlier Seagulls...but construction is just as solid and durable as ever. The gloss top protects the scratch-prone cedar a bit better too.

Action is medium-low (as I like it), with no buzzing but some room to lower if so desired.

Quality of the cedar top is stunning! This grade top could go on an Avalon, taylor, etc...

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's a tank - just like all Seagulls. cedar will scratch, but with common-sense care this guitar will withstand any use you throw at it.

Customer Support : 10
LaSiDo always responds to my questions quickly and courteously.

Overall Rating : 10
Playing 10 years - for pleasure and performance. As I said earlier, this is my third of this model - but this one is for keeps - the tone, action, neck, and now look (with bindings) is all there. It may sound crazy, but it smells really good too (the cedar).

Guitars I have recently owned/own: Taylor 612c, Taylor W10, Yamaha DW105, Larrivee L03R - and I honestly will choose this Seagull over all these other handcrafted instruments. The taylors do not hold a candle to the depth of tone (though their intonation and feel are impeccable). The larrivee normally would beat it, but my particular ax lacks something - probably a dud or just needs to open up.
