Features : 10
Purchased from www.palmbeachmusic.com they were VERY helpful and had the BEST DEAL. Model M6 SPRUCE with Micro EQ. Hand made in Canada. This is a 2001 model. Solid spruce top. Back and sides are a 3 layer laminate. a layer of mahogany with a layer of wild cherry in between then another layer of mahogany. The wild cherry layer is applied in the opposite direction of the mahogany, this process adds strenth and enhances projection of the sound]. The neck is Mahogany, thin and a little wider than your standard acoustic neck. Very easy to play. 14 open frets, no high frets or rough edges. Non cut-away. Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Micarta nut and compensated saddle [this material is like a synthetic bone]. The finish is a very thin lacquer, it is a luster rather than a shine. This finish enables the sound to breath and project. The size is dreadnaught with a slightly smaller upper bout. This model came with the LR BAGGS [considered superior for acoustic reproduction]MICRO EQ, It's an active pickup,a very simple pickup with volume, bass and treble. The line in attaches through the end pin and the battery is located inside the guitar on the neck block. Some players will complain about the battery location. I prefer it not being attached to any projection materials. i'm giving a rating of 10 because of the materials used and the overall construction, not because of flash. it does'nt have "Tons of features", it's an acoustic. If this guitar were made in this country it would be in the range of 1,000 to 1,500 american dollars.

Sound : 10
This guitar suites my style 100%. i'm a songwriter. i write ballads, foolish comedy and songs from my heart. i don't play "covers". i three finger pick or play a sloppy lead, rythum and bass with my thumb. i don't use a pick. The sound of the Seagull is very well balanced. A good bass without being boomy, the midrange is pronounced but not dominate and the treble strings ring clear without sounding tinny. i have an inexpensive dual input [mic and guitar] Stone brand 40 watt amp for home use. The Seagull sounds about the same as being unpluged only louder, with the reverb turn down, when played through the amp. The guitar was not noisey through the amp and i did't have any feedback problems. This guitar is a songwriters dream. The sound was a little tight because it's brand new but i've been playing it for about a month and it really opened up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The Seagull was set-up well from the factory, the action was a little stiff at first [being new]. the pickup is exactly what you need, simple and functional. The headstock, tuning pegs, neck, fretboard, frets, bridge, top, back and sides are beautifully crafted. the only thing i can find that i might adjust [i do guitar repairs] is the depth of the string guides in the nut. This is more of a personal preferance rather than a flaw.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is my 5th Seagull. i've owned a S6 Cedar, Grand Cedar, S6+ Spruce, SM6 high gloss Spruce and now the M6 Spruce with Micro EQ. My first Seagull was some years ago, it was the S6 Cedar. i believe it was one of those that Mr Godin himself brought to this country. that guitar and all of the other Seagull's i've owned were great sounding and easy to play, They stood up. i expect this one to be as good or better. i would and will gig without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
i've contacted the lasido [seagull]company three times. twice for information about differant models of guitars and once for a compensated saddle for my old S6 [back then they were'nt compensated]. they sent the compensated saddle free of charge. They will not get back to you instantly but they will get back in a resonable amount of time. This is a GREAT company making GREAT GUITARS!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing and songwriting a very long time. i'm not a great guitarist but am a very good songwriter. i play out once in a while and don't have any tomato stains on my clothes. i presently own the Seagull and a Gibson Gospel acoustic with a Fishman matrix pickup. besides the Seagull's i've owned three Martins and many old 50's and 60's Harmony guitar products. i've never owned an Electric guitar, i love the acoustic sound. i asked all the questions i needed to know before i purchased the Seagull. If the Seagull were stolen or lost i'd be on the phone to palm beach music again for the same exact model. i love the SOUND, ease of play, craftsmanship, wood choice, straight string pull of the headstock [stays in tune] and the overall appearance. There is nothing i dislike or hate about this guitar, if there were i would not have bought it. i know these guitars very well. my favorite feature is the Sound. i compared it to a Martin D15, DM, D1, Gibson Gospel that i owned. i also compared it to guitars in the 1,000+ price range. i have a Sugar Moma that would buy me anything i want, i'm a lucky man.
