Absolutely beautiful woods,

Sound : 10
I play mostly blues on the acoustic guitar but a little bit of Rock/Country/Classical as well. I played many Gibson, Taylor, Epiphone, Takamine, Fender, Ibanez and Martin guitars, some in the $3000 price range before I ran across this guitar. It plays at least as well as all and better than most. It fits every musical style I can think of. Because of the woods and finish it's tonality is remarkable with great projection and superb balance in the low, mid and high range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set up was nearly flawless. Very smooth action but I may sand the bridge down just a shade. Haven't decided yet.
Fit and Finish are flawless and I have gone over it with the proverbial fine tooth comb. I love the neck shape. It works with my hand size perfectly, not large, not small.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Live playing? Yes, but I have a tendency to NOT beat the hell out of my instruments. The instrument is well designed, well engineered and the hardware is higher end. But the finish is a polished finish, not gloss therefore it will take a beating and look roughed up eventually. I do not mind this because the benefit is that the tone is so great but others may find it a distraction. I added my own strap button because it does not have a neck button. The website has directions on where to drill (very helpful-thanks Seagull). I can depend on this guitar and would gig w/o a backup.

Customer Support : 8
I e-mailed them once on a case question and the response was prompt.

Overall Rating : 10
Benn playing for 20 years. I have an almost complete home studio with acoustic and electric guitars, synths, bass.
If this were stolen I would be crushed-I love this guitar and would immediately buy another. So don't steal it ok!!!
I love the overall sound and look although looks are secondary to sound in my world. I compared many other guitars before this one. I wish it came with a case as you have to order them from a dealer, kind of a PITA!

You can look these up on the website because they can tell you more about it than I can.

The best 'feature' is hands down the Quantam II pickup system. GENIUS

Sound : 10
I play a percussive, two-handed tapping style similar to Justin King, Kaki King, Preston Reed, Nathan Montgomery, Hedges, Tommy Emmanuel, and many others. I needed a guitar that has a great neck and action for tapping in DADGAD tuning, as well as something I could use in standard tuning for chords and other things. I already own a Seagull Artist Cameo CW and I love it; as I was looking through the guitars at the shops I came across this mini jumbo and I gave it a shot. As others have said, I compared it to the best of the best and boy let me tell you, it can compete with anything else I tried. I got the guitar and case for 540 and for the money I would say this is the single greatest guitar in terms of musical value vs. money.

Unplugged the guitar has a very balanced tone. My Cameo has a slight ephasis on the high tones and lacks bass (the maple woods will do that) but the MJM6 has a very good balance. It sounds very bright and CLEAR (I'm sure you have played dull sounding, muddy acoustics before so you know what I mean) with great articulation in chords and solo lines. There is a good amount of bass here too, but not quite as much as I expected for this body shape. All in all I am happy with the acoustic sound...and then I plugged it in. If there's anything I can say about the quantam II pickup/preamp system it's that it was decided to give the best possible, most accurate represenation of your tone - and that it does. Simply phenominal. I would venture so far as to say this is my all time favorite preamp system on any guitar..including high end larrivee, taylor, martin, McPherson, Guild, Gibson, etc. Simply astounding. Just like on my Cameo there are two active pickups, the undersaddle piezo and the condensor electret boom mic pointed at the strings from underneath the sound hole. When the blender knob is set at 12 o'clock (half the sound from the boom mic and half from piezo) there is NO FEEDBACK, ever, at high volumes. Something about it cancels out all feedback and I never have to worry about it...no sound holed covers or anything. The only downside for me is that in this position you can only hear the strings on the guitar, and not my percussive taps and beats on the body of the guitar...but the MJM6 has got me covered there too - I turn the blender pot slightly toward the piezo and BAM, I have my own personal drum set. I am careful not to turn it too far because it will start feedbacking if you're close to the amp.

Long story short, this guitar sounds great by itself but really comes into its own when plugged in. If you are on somewhat of a budget and happen to find one of these, atleast give it a shot and see what you think because I am in love with it. If you want to hear some sound samples, go to my myspace: www.myspace.com/brennanlentz
currently I have a song up called Root-Beer-Flavored Water that showcases this guitar unplugged.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Ok, this category to me is very subjective because everybody has different playing styles and different needs. I personally felt like the action was very good from the factory, if not slightly too high for me. Because I do a lot of tapping I need to have it low and without buzz. If you get it from a good guitar shop they should throw in a free set up, which will smooth out any flaws. Aestetically, I compared the guitar to my current Artist Series Cameo, and you can definately see the "money saving" spots on the guitar. No ornamented abalone inlay, dots, or elaborate finished headstock..no frills whatsoever. But hey, if you're playing this thing on stage nobody is gonna notice the inlay so the thing that really matters is the sound and it more than makes up for it in that department. You get what you pay for, but luckily Seagull only stripped the guitar of it's superfluous detailing, rather than the tone and feel of the guitar. I personally like it's bare-bones sexiness, and a lot of people have complimented me on the guitar's looks.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Because this guitar is so cheap for the way it sounds, I think it's a great gigging guitar that you can beat up a little and not feel so guilty about. I can definately depend on it when I need to and so far it has not failed me once (sans a few broken strings but that is standard on every guitar I play). In terms of "will this guitar stand the test of time" or "how does it age" I can't really answer that because I have only had it about 5 months.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no need to contact them, other than to tell them how great this guitar is!

Overall Rating : 10
I am a college student on a budget, but I needed another guitar to avoid having to retune between every song. Now I can set each of my three main guitars to a different tuning and I'm good to go. They each have things they sound good at, and this guitar sounds great at it. Highly highly recommnended for someone who needs a great acoustic/electric for a decent price!

M6MJ CW QII. The mahogany body, gloss solid cedar top, cut away mini jumbo with the Quantum II electronics. She has a very attractive shape.

Sound : 9
I first was attracted by the shape and looks. When I played it at the store I kept coming back to it and comparing the sound to other more expensive guitars. Very versatile sound, I think the cedar top holds down the brightness just right. I'm not an aggressive player just basic strumming and finger picking. I don't use the electronics much but they are basic and OK. Doesn't project as much as a rosewood/spruce guitar. I might also consider buying the full body spruce top sister model to this one. I play mostly Country, Classic Rock, Light Rock and a little Bluegrass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was set up just fine from the factory, looks good, feels good. I like the short scale and wide nut. I have small to medium hands that work well on the fret board. I don't have thick hard calluses on my fingers so after playing awhile my finger tips will dent. The wide nut allows for the finger width as the calluses collapse. People with dry skin may not have this problem. I've been playing neary every day for 3 years, the calluses are as good as they will get. Seagull makes a plain but handsome line of instruments. I'm not into bling on my guitars just nice wood grain which the cedar has.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is my second Seagull, I have the S6 Grand also. No issues here just be careful with the cedar top it is soft. Also the case is very light in weight, nice to carry and seems to provide very good protection against bumping around and temperature changes.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with the company.

Overall Rating : 10
I played off and on just learning since 1983 but only as serious (addictive) as a hobby can get playing with friends for last 3 years. I would get another if it was lost or stolen. I like Seagull guitars and will probably buy more. I'm not saying they are better than others but they are nice, handsome, well made and less money on the high end models than other top brands. The lower end models are good guitars, not what I would call "cheap". I also have a 1983 Guild G37 that I have owned since new and will keep forever.

A very interesting guitar-my wife described the shape as "bulbous". It has an LR Baggs Element system, and it sounds great. Solid spruce top; back and sides are layered mahogany. It's a rather heavy acoustic, which I like, but some people don't. I have small hands, plus I nearly lost a finger in an accident, so the shortwer scale is great for me. Mine came w/ the Tric case. The jury's still out on that one.

Sound : 9
I play solo original stuff. I tune the guitar down a half step, and usually play in drop-D tuning, so I get a huge sound. I play through a Digitech DD pedal, through 1 or 2 Fishman Loudbox amps (what an amp!!). Couldn't be happier with the electric sound, however, the guitar is not very vibrant or loud acoustically.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Setup was just fine when I got it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Built like a tank, and about the same weight.

Overall Rating : 9
I am very happy with the guitar. I have played for eons, and I currently arrange for several magazines and publishers. I'd replace the guitar w/ another like it, if stolen.

To rate this guitar as a 9 is wrong. It should be a ten on everything
Real solid arched top spruce, solid mahaghony back, laminated mahagony/cherry/mahagony sides, solid reinforced honduras mahagony neck, rosewood fretboard, quailty nickel frets, 14-1 ( Grover like ) tuners. handsome arched rosette around sound hole, 8 coat lacure hand sprayed, sanded and polished high gloss finish on the entire body, Handsome clean design head piece with " Seagull" label. Inlay dots on fretboard. NO HPL ( formica ) anywhere...all real quality wood. Hand shaped Adirondack spruce tuned bracing on the top.
Made in Canada and with the Tric form fitting case...retail, $580.00

Sound : 10
This is straight acustic and it sounds great. I have put D'Addario
Ej26 Phosphor Bronze 11- 52 on it. Nice warm clear sound with finger style and good loud clear with flat pick. Use a thin pick and it really has a bite...use an exta heavy and it gives it a real warm jazz sound

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I can't find a flaw anywhere on it. I have seen 2 - 3 thousand Martins and Gibsons fresh out of the box that were not as clean as my MJM6. The combination of materials and finish workmanship is almost unblieveable when you consider the retail price and compare it to other top of the line manufactures.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Have not had it long enough to really give this a call..but there is sure nothing evident that gives cause for concern. I looks rock solid but in all fairness time will have to prove that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not had to seek their help of any issue. I have asked several dealers that I reserched about the "Seagull" and they have all said the same thing. ....they have never had to send one back!!!

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have owned and been playing guitars for over 35 years. I also own a Gibson Herb Ellis ES 165 signature and a Polyton Mini Brut 11 amp.
I have not touched my Gibson since I brought the Seagull in the house.
It is just plain fun to kick back with and mess with some finger style or flat pick it...just plain fun! I don't wish it had anything. I compared it to Martin, Gibson, Eiphone, Ibenz, Yamaha, Taylor....you can't even remotely get close to as quaility of an insturment with any of these manufactures unless you are willing to part with $1000.00 or more ie...Martin D-16GT...good wood top, side back, neck...but high gloss only on the top, fretboard and bridge..plastic...price $999.99...Check for your self. Why would anyone want to spend hard earned good money to buy a plastic guitar.
Anything else...yep...going to buy a Seagull dreadnaught..most likely the Cameo with electronics. Tried one out and it is one of the most hand some looking guitars that I have ever looked at...with electic..
$under a grand. Give Seagull an honest look...do some checking on the web...it is truly worth it.

I was looking for a long time acoustic guitar. Since it was going to be a long timer, I thought I would have to spend well over $1000 to get somthing I would be happy with. I was wrong! My guitar teacher showed me the Canadian Hand built "Seagul MJ M6 CW". A mini jumbo that sounds like I'm playing a $1000+ guitar. But I paid much less than that. I've been playing for a bit over two years and I have devaloped an ear to know that this guitar sounds great!! Extreamly comfortable in all ways, and very easy to fret. It does not come with a front strap peg so I had to have one installed. The only thing I don't like about the guitar is the headstock... it look... wimpy?... but it's all in in head, because it sounds and plays increadable. I used the ecectronics in the store with an acoustic amp; it sounded really good. And it came with a great case!!

Sound : 10
As stated above, it sounds great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is good. Low.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Everthing on the guitar seems very sold and durable.

Customer Support : 10
Lifetime limited warranty.

I went into my neighborhood guitar store just to browse, saw this guitar on the rack and was immediately drawn to it's simple beauty.
Solid spruce top (gloss finish) without a pickguard, laminated gloss-finished mahogany sides and back (actually a center sheet of cherry wood pressed between two layers of mahogany), satin-finish mahogany neck, off-white binding on the body. Closed metal tuners, gloss finish on the headstock, and a sharp-looking wood outline of the headstock by either a different kind of wood (maple?), or perhaps mahogany with a different finish--anyway, it resembles headstock binding and it's a nice touch on an otherwise relatively unadorned instrument.

The neck's nice and wide at the ivory/tusq-quality nut--1.8" I think--the saddle is high quality as well, and compensated. The neck has a smooth, satin finish that begs to be touched, and the smooth fretwork is as good as I've seen on even much more pricey guitars--no rough edges whatsoever. Intonation is perfect. This is a "mini jumbo" shape--about one inch larger than a standard dread at the upper bout, and about 1/2-1 inch smaller on the lower. No electronics, but I intend to install a Fishman Natural in it for stage work.

Excellent features for a guitar in this price range.

Sound : 9
The gloss finish and spruce top need playing time before this baby will open up to it's full potential, but I love the sound brand new. Clear, loud bass notes, strong mid-range, and clear on the treble side. Great for fingerpicking, open shimmering chords/strumming.
When strumming, it sounds best with a medium-hard pick-action, as hard strumming will compress the sound somewhat, but again this should change as the soundboard gets more work. I'm a performing songwriter and this guitar is great for the gamut of folk to acoustic rock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is perfect, the mahogany is gorgeous (even, striped look all around), gloss and satin finishes are perfect and even, the interior is clean, the tuners are smooth, the joints and binding are perfect, as is the fret work. The spruce top is lovely, though obviously a lower/medium grade in appearance for a guitar in this price range.
I couldn't find one significant flaw. Lots of credit to Seagull for building a guitar this fine and keeping the price down. If I wouldn't know it, I'd guess this instrument cost $1000+. No exaggeration here either. I've owned about 15 guitars in my lifetime and have played for 30+ years.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is solidly built. Absolutely gig-worthy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal directly with Seagull. I know they have some sort of warranty but I don't know what it is. I don't care. This should last for years.

Overall Rating : 10
I'll definitely keep buying Seagulls. I believe they are the best buy on the market in this price range. I played the hell out of my old S6 before trading it in for this one. I love the Seagull sound balance between warm and clean, and woodsy. I also own a Reverend Avenger, a '68 Gibson J-45, a Larrivee Parlor Guitar. And a Fender Champ Amp--a '76 I think. Considering the bottom of the line Taylor 110 costs about $550 with gig bag, I'd say this is a much better value for about $100 less.
