Suits me fine. I had to get this guitar after trying every Seagull at Guitar Showcase in San Jose. It was an unbelievably great sounding guitar!
I love cedar anyway. This is a factory demo, only $299, no case. The action was low and easy, it was loud, rich and chimy. It had a richness in the bass and a tinkle in the highs that my recently purchased Taylor 210E did not.
With a cutaway, too. This ax records like a dream, too. I'm building in a K & K Pure Western and then gigging with it.
This was a peach, head and shoulders above the sound of every other Seagull there. My advice? Try them all till you have one in your hands that matches the tone of your soul.

Purchased after testing different models in the price range, including Seagull's own artist series. Liked the look, the sound, unplugged and plugged in, and yes, even the smell. Boght brand new in New Hampshire in 2001 for $549. Wanted an A/E cutaway, this one was the winner.

I play a little of everything, from bluegrass to punk, strummed, fingerpicked, and flatpicked. This has been more than adequate for all. I believe that the L.R. Baggs electronics sound better than other systems on the market. Sounds really great through my Fender Acoustasonic junior and loud too!

I have found this guitar to be rather temperamental in regards to seasonal changes. I need to have my local guitar tech adjust it mid-winter, and mid spring, as the action will go from too high to too low in a matter of weeks. I have hasd to have the nut and bridge adjusted.

This guitar is one of nine, currently rooming with three telecasters of various ages, a Fender lap steel, a cheap electric mandolin, an old National hollowbody, a recent strat, and a very old Regal parlor guitar. It is part of my live and studio rig, the only a/e I have. I use it for vocal support, rhythm and lead parts, with and without effects, and into either a Peavey Delta Blues 210 or a Fender Acoustasonic junior. I bought it based on a recommendation, a preference for local craftsmanship and woods, and its feel and sound. Though I would prefer not to spend $100 per year on "checkups", the guitar is a great sounding piece, and I really have a connection with it.

This is a great looking guitar. Not flashy! with a oh-natural look to it. The v-shaped headstock is original (and yes it helps to keep the guitar in tune). Canadian made, so those who have to have a domestic guitar can at least boost that its not from mexico or asia. Pre- shaped bridge saddle that has perfect intonation. Only complaint is the low durability of the cedar top. While the cedar give an awseome sound, im slowing loosing my sound hole to hard rocking. I could go on and on

Has a very good low end and High end. Mid seems to be somewhat lacking, (probably from the cutaway) but not a huge concern at all. I use it for all styles. Mine has the L.R. Bagges Micro EQ on it, which is by far the most reasonable priced system out there. I ger huge, rich, clean sound from the Electronics and wont ever consider upgrading (theres no need)

No factory sets up there guitars that well. They all get screwed up anyways in distribution from weather conditions and handling. mine admidtly had some fret buzz at the second fret, but nothing that myself(a guitar technician) couldnt easily remedie with a neck adjustement. The wood is well matched, and only the best woods are used (this is noticable). High quality frets used, the special alloy frets last a long while without much or any string wear. Action is low, and the neck is broad for those who like that

I rock hard with this guitar, while it wont keep up with my others that have been practicully shilacked with gloss, it sounds better every performance (solid top agging). I installed a strap button on the heel of the neck, its held up to my stage performacnes.

I bought the guitar in 1997 with a hardshell case. I think it was made in Canada. It has 21 frets. It has a solid cedar top. It has L.R. Baggs Ribbon Transducer electronics with 3-band EQ, presence, mid-range, and volume knob. It has a semi-Gloss Lacquer Finish, Wild Cherry Back & Sides, Silver Leaf Maple Neck, and an Indian Rosewood Fingerboard & Bridge. It is a dreadnought style body and a cutaway.

It has a very warm sound. It is a great mix of highs, mids, and lows. I use it mainly plugged into a DOD Acoustic One processor then into a PA system through a direct box from there. That sounds great. It is a very full sound. I enjoy the sound a lot.

The action was OK coming out of the factory. It wasn't as high as some, but could've been lower. It had it lowered and then it played a lot better. The pickup was fine and everything else seemed pretty good. When I first got it there didn't seem to be any problems.

I had so much trouble with this guitar in the long run though. I had tons of trouble with the intonation, the neck, the frets, the saddle & bridge, the nut. It didn't stay in tune very well as time went on. It wasn't reliable at all! I am very upset at how things turned out with this guitar. I wouldn't recommend buying this guitar unless you can baby it tremendously with humidity, temperature, neck adjustments, fret work ,etc. It was a huge hassle. I got it worked on several times only to have it go bad again. I wouldn't trust this one.

The company was alright at first, but left me high and dry in the end. The place where I bought it referred me directly to Seagull, so they didn't do much at all and weren't very helpful. When I got it repaired through Seagull things went pretty well. It was under warranty for 2 years and the first repair was covered. But it had problems 6 months after the fix again and by this time it was out of warranty. They wouldn't do anything for me. I got it fixed on my own and it cost me around 100 dollars. Then 6 months later it went back to having issues. Finally after 4 years I called Seagull and asked for a new guitar. They wouldn't do it and they wouldn't even fix mine because it was out of warranty. They've developed a bad reputation with me. The bad thing is that my friend has had just as much trouble with his. Anyway, they finally sent me out a new neck and told me to get it put on. Since I don't have the money or the know-how to do it, I sold the guitar (and lost a lot of money) to someone who can fix it.

I've been playing guitar for 6 years. Before this Seagull I had an Ovation 1988 Collector's Series acoustic/electric. It was the most beautiful guitar I've ever owned. I love it, except it sounded very dull and not full at all when unplugged. So it was worth more for the looks ($1300) than for the sound. I sold it (and made money off of it) and now I wish I never would've. I bought the Seagull with the money I made from it because of its sound quality. But that was a mistake. I thought it sounded like a Martin. I thought I could get a Martin sound for a Seagull price but I came out the loser in the long run. I wish I would've kept my Ovation. Now I own an Alvarez acoustic/electric and am looking at buying either a Takamine or a Washburn acoustic/electric. I also own a Paul Reed Smith electric (the best kind there is baby!). I use Digitech effects for my electric and DOD effects for my acoustic/electric.

2001. Solid cedar top. Cherry sides and back. Satin finish. Cutaway dreadnaught. LR Baggs Micro EQ. Simple lines, clean styling. Nothing cheesy or flashy going on here.
Sound

The cedar top gives this guitar a warm, rich sound. Not the least bit too bright or brittle. Sometimes with a "warm" sounding guitar you get a muddy strum, where the strings sound over one another in a bass heavy muddle rather than distinct tones from each string -- not with this guitar, and that's what sold me. Most guitars sound "okay" fingerpicked, but where I've had the most trouble is with strumming. This guitar has a nice even sound when strummed -- still warm and bassy, but you can clearly detect the treble strings ringing out.

I had the action set up to my specifications before I bought it. Don't know how good the factory set up is. Everything else is fine. No obvious exterior flaws. The only thing negative thing I *might* say is that the interior of the guitar is rather rough. And I did see several Seagulls in my shopping tour that had pretty obvious finish flaws -- to be expected in a guitar at this price, I guess. I'd just warn anyone to check the guitar over carefully for finish flaws before purchasing (as with any other brand).

My one true complaint about my Seagull is the finish, and even then maybe "complaint" is too strong a word. A satin finish is always a trade-off. They simply aren't as durable as a glossier finishes, but you do gain some sound benefits in projection and tone. Making this worse is the cedar top, which is a softish wood that dings and scratches very very easily. I like the sound of the Seagull well enough (and the price well enough) that I'm willing to baby it a little in order to keep it healthy. I don't mind a few dings and scratches, but I worry about the long-term durability of this guitar. With care it may hold up, but I wouldn't recommend one for someone who strums like a sledgehammer.
I will warn anyone buying a Seagull that you cannot use a soundhole pickup with these guitars if you want the soundhole to remain round. They will almost certainly chip away at the soundhole of these (cedar topped) guitars. This model (S6+ Cedar Cutaway) comes witn micro EQ, and there are other very reasonably priced models with onboard sound. If you plan on playing amplified even occasionally, go ahead and buy one of those models, you'll be glad you did.

The sound and the price are what sold me on this guitar. You won't find a sound like this at a price like this with any other brand. I looked at several other brands in my price range (under $800) and none offered both the warm, rich sound I prefer, and the features of this guitar. In sound it compared favorably to the mid-priced Taylors and Larrivees I tried (that were out of my price range). Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to buy another of the same model if this one were lost or stolen.

Beleive it or not I picked up my seagull at a hock shop for $135 with only a case, no humidifier or anything else. But it's a gem.I meen I really love this guitar. When I looked for the serial# to my amazement....... there was'nt one.(Also)I noticed the others who left statements about this guitar mentioned that It had knobs ,not this one .But there is a L.R. Boggs pickup under the bridge, that sounds quite nice, but not one nob.I looked in the case and I found an L.R. boggs pickup case.Weird I think it might be a prototype because all the models of this guitar Ive,IN THE GUITAR SHOP I MANAGED,SEEN ALL HAD KNOBS TOO.NICE GUITAR .I GIVE IT A 9.

Mid 90's, 21 frets, solid cedar top. LR Baggs ribbons transducer interface with a 3 band equalizer. The body is wild cherry and the neck is mahogany with a walnut fret board. It has a satin finish with a solid back, meaning it has no division line along it's back- wich I think absorbs sound. the S6 cutaway is a solid guitar that gives as good as it takes. I rate it's features High not because I own it, but based on comments from talented freinds and non-talented freinds.
Sound

The Sound that I get from the Seagull S6+ cutaway is a rich clean loud sound that I can't compare to any other guitar I have played. Without amplification, it gives a wide range from low to high sounds. It is the best sounding accoustic I have ever heard for it's price. I was looking to buy a Takamine on the day I picked up the Gull and I really could tell the difference in sound as a stand-a-lone accustic. When I heard the price I about flipped. The L.R. Baggs equalizer is very powerfull, almost too powerfull for the different PA systems I hook to. A lot of feed back but this is common with accoustic/electric guitars. It's important to Know exactly how to adjust your guitar when using an amp or PA to get the sound you desire. I own several accoustic/electric guitars and I can say that the L.R. Baggs definetly puts out.

I like the action of the S6+ but would have to say that is more a rhythm guitar than a lead. I say this because of the width of the neck. it is thicker and wider then most name brand guitars - say for instance the Washburn accustic/electrics. I didn,t find any flaws on this pretty guitar and I have to say since it has a flat satin finish on it's top, it is subject to nicks and dents. A player has to be very careful with the top on the flat finish of this guitar. The cedar is very soft, and that I think is what makes it sound so superb!!

The Seagull S6+ gives alot more than it takes. It is very dependable and rarely needs to be tuned! I know you guys think I am Jerk, but had to pawn it to pay the bills. Well it was in hock for 4 months and I was really suprised at the 'hock' value of this guitar. Now don't get no ideas. But When I picked it up, it was in tune just like the day I hocked it!! I rarely ever have to tune it. Just like a good wife, it's always there when I need it. The only problem I can think of about the guitar is that it didn't come with a guitar strap attachment on the neck. I'm not sure why they put one on the butt end and then not on the neck end.

I have been playing since I was 9. (29 years) I'm not as good as the years that I have been playing, but as good wine ages I am confident that the Seagull will sound better and better as years go by. I will never pawn it again and will play is much as I can. I own 2 other accoustic electric guitars and 1 electric guitar. I get alot of complements on the seagull. It,s a tie I think on style and sound as far as compliments. The only thing I can say is that I am content with the Seagull S6+ cutaway and I would not trade it for the world.
