Satin finish doesn't do a good job of sealing the wood in my opinion.

Sounds excellent.

The action is Excellent. The cedar sucks.

The cedar is cracking. I would never get a guitar made from this wood again. A crack is forming around bridge. Another is forming around the pickguard while there are a couple more forming on the back of the guitar. I got this as a christmas gift about five years ago and I love the sound and playability but I am very disappointed in the durability of the cedar. I think a guitar should last a lifetime as long as it is not dropped off a cliff or something. I saw another one of these at a used music store and of course it had cracks all over the body just like mine only worse.

My guitar was handmade in Quebec, Canada, and probably not more than a year old. The wood etc has been elaborated on, so I'll just contribute my thoughts on its appearance.
The guitar is a study of understated class-there is nothing flashy about its design, but you can tell straight away this is a well-made guitar. The honey-brown cedar matches nicely with the darker mahogany, while the border around the soundhole is tastefully elegant.
The headstock is narrower than conventional acoustics. Instead of meeting the tuners at an angle, the strings are tuned straight. This ensures the strings remain in tune for longer. It's especially useful for lazy guitarists like me!
For features, I'll give this guitar a 7. Apart from the headstock, it differs little from other acoustics on the market.

One word: amazing!
Great depth, and a very responsive guitar. Strong bass and a ringing, clear treble. Depending on my mood it can go from sensitive to angry. This guitar can handle anything, from fingerstyle to aggressive strumming.
It's also a very loud guitar, so don't strum too hard at home in your room :)

I found the default action a little too high, but that was easily rectified. The neck feels great-wide, deep and sits nicely in my hand.
The only slight flaw I've found is the tuners, one which is slightly loose. It's not problematic, just slightly annoying.

I also agree this is a very durable guitar. Contrary to what a lot of people have said, cedar isn't THAT soft! As long as you don't ram your guitar into desk corners (which I've just did) or into walls (which I've also done) the top will be just fine. Unfortunately when scratches do occur they tend to look like gouges, even though the scratch isn't deep. But, on the bright side, scratches give a guitar some character ;)
Because of the thin finish, you'll need to give this guitar a good polish a few times a year, to keep the wood in top condition. Otherwise the wood may crack.
I also agree that the guitar can withstand public performing, and quite well too.
The single strap button also annoyed me slightly. Although it's not difficult to attach a second strap button, it makes me wonder why they didn't attach one themselves. Who wants to sling a guitar strap around a guitar neck? Grrr.
Basically, this is a guitar that will look after you, if you look after it :)

Overall, I love this guitar. It's a great guitar that is suitable for anything, and which can rival guitars double its price. I would recommend this for an intermediate guitarist looking to trade up, or for an experienced player on a budget.

I'm not sure about the year, but it was certainly built within the last five years. The label inside the soundhole tells me it was built in Quebec, Canada, and it was built extremely well, and Seagull's attention to detail is clearly evident. Cedar top, mahogany back, sides, and neck with a really thin finish -- so thin that you can still feel the woodgrain with your hand. 21 frets, but no cutaway. Black binding on the front and back of the body. The bridge looks like synthetic bone, chrome tuners, headstock tilted back. Parsley scratchguard (meaning it's too far wide from the strings to make a difference... it's just for looks). It's an acoustic, so there aren't too many features worth commenting on.

Amazing tone. I play everything from classical guitar to Led Zep-type acoustic stuff to folksy songs to aggressive rock sounding tunes, and they all come out beautifully. The guitar is loud, but not offensive-loud like some other acoustics... it's really more of a soft fullness than a focused sound. Highs are clear, lows are well-defined, and there's just a really beautiful resonance that seems to bring out the sensitivity in my playing. It's just a real natural feeling sound, not plasticky or rigid-sounding. I've tooled around with the upper-end Ovations, some Guilds, and a few other name-branders (being a cautious customer, I was hesitant to buy an unknown), but I couldn't really get over the great sounds from the Seagull.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is pretty low, as far as acoustic guitars go, but there isn't much fret buzz, either. No noticeable material flaws (meaning wood, glue, frets, inlays, etc.), but a couple of the tuning pegs don't hold as well as I'd like them too. The problem isn't so bad that I have to get them replaced right away, but I will certainly throw in some tighter tuners when my money situation isn't quite as tight.

It will, and has withstood live performances. The chrome on the tuners is standing up well (the tuners are a different story... they'll be replaced at my first opportunity), and the parts seem to be holding together great. Don't be fooled by the lightweight and soft finish -- the guitar is sturdy and will take a couple of good doorknob/mike stand/table corner knockings without falling apart. The top is easily scratched due to the near-imperceptible finish, and the pickguard is placed a little far from the strings to catch very many errant sweeps. However, those are all aesthetic problems. Strangely, there's only one strap button (on the bottom), so it's a sit-down only guitar unless you're going to loop a huge strap from the bottom to the headstock. It's highly dependable, and I regularly bring it to practices, recording sessions and live performances without a backup.

N/A -- Never had a problem with the instrument, never called the company, and quite frankly, at this point I'm not even sure what the warranty policy was.

I've played quite a few instruments, including various Les Pauls (both stock and with Duncan Alnico II Pros) and Strats. Acoustically, I've also played the big-name instruments, and obviously I think the Seagull matches up soundwise with the most expensive guitars on the market. If the guitar got stolen/lost, I'd probably go around looking for the same model replacement. I'm really happy with the sound and feel of the instrument. In all categories (volume, durability, sound quality, value) I highly recommend this instrument to anyone looking to purchase an acoustic. Dollar for dollar, I don't think you'll find a better guitar out there. Save for the loose tuners, I'd give this guitar an easy ten.

On this guitar, the features are in the construction. The top is solid narrow-grain cedar (a soft wood), and the back is dark mahogany. Fret board and saddle are rosewood, and it has synthetic bone for nut and bridge. The finish is micro-thin satin for an almost unfinished look. All these features are to promote energy and vibration. There's no heavy gloss finish to dampen the sound, and the bone parts transmit energy better than plastic. You will notice the attention to detail in the sound the first time you play it. Mine does not have electronics, but I plan on adding it some time later.

Bright and full with a beautiful voice. Very responsive to hard and soft touch. Also the loudest accoustic I've ever heard. Amazing wide sound like it's in "stereo" when you're playing. Cedar top, bone string contact points, linear tuning peg postions, and barely a finish, all contribute to a guitar built for tone. It's an almost perfect accoustic guitar sound. Part bright, part full, part bottom end. Amazing string definition, and the guitar has a voice of it's own when you let it ring. The "feel" is so correct. I demo-ed a $1500 Gibson while shopping around, and the $450 Seagull sounds and feels better, and I'm not kidding.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Seagull explains that their fret boards and action are designed for modern playing styles. You can play farther up the neck, yet the neck pitch prevents buzzing. Action is very low, almost like an electric. But the neck is wide like a classical, a perfect combination. It's the best feeling accoustic I've ever played. The guitar is very light weight but rock solid, which makes it the most energetic and rich sounding accoustic I've ever heard.

The guitar is hand made in Quebec Canada. Seagull guitars have an excellent reputation for quality.

I love this guitar. I will buy only Seagull accoustics from now on. The store charged me too much for my guitar (hard case included at least.) But if I didn't know better I would have actually payed more. I was surprised to find such a great sounding and great playing guitar in a low price range. Seagull could easily charge more for their instruments, but they don't advertise so overhead cost is lower on their stuff. This is a low priced guitar that holds it's own with high priced Gibsons and Martins. Your living room will smell like cedar the first few weeks you have it home!
