Laminated Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides - Acoustic Drednaught

Sound : 10
I had always thougth one of the last guitars I would ever by would be a laminated guitar, especially a Silvertone, and yet the sound quality is comparable to some of my best solid wood guitars costing 20 times as much (I paid $65 new for the PD2). It has a loud, full, even sound with plenty of bass with good tone across the mid and treble as well. I was able to try three at the same time and found all three to have the same sound qualities - For the money it deserves a 10 plus.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Everything was fine out of the box for all three guitars I tried regarding both action and finish. My only dislike is the relativly thick neck, and I am not fond of the appearence from the neck up and back and sides.
This guitar has a a relativly wide shape, it does not curve in at the waist as much as most, it's also on the stubby side, as the headstock and neck are relatively short (though 20 frets) - So it a great guitar for storing or playing in cramped situations
- Approximatly 2 to 3 inches shorter then most guitars in its class.

Simply the best guitar I have ever run across for the money.
I owned over 50 acoustic guitars, played hundreds for over thirty years and perform regularly -Its taken a long time and lot of money to find the really good yet affordable models, if your looking for a solid wood guitars that have exceptional sound quality (along with good looks) yet paying only $300 to around $500 consider checking out the following models as some of the best value guitars on the market:(bear in mind of course a guitar even of the same model can vary considerably in sound quality etc): - Dreadnaughts:
Washburn Southwest, Hohner Ebony Wood, Johnson JD17, Ibanaz Artwoods (bright but clear guitars and very similiar in sound quality to the Yamaha FG750S), Norman Cedar top B-18, Michael Kelly Dragonfly, Epiphone Mastbilts: Maple, rosewood and cedar models, Takamine G series 330 cedar-mahogany, Hohner HW90 "stripped wood".
For an exceptional looking and sounding acoustic lamintaed transparent blue guitar for the money consider the Walden 351SU, For an acoustic electrid the Ibanaz PF - Besides if you get a good laminated they are more durable and outlast many solid woods and of course relativly inexpensive.
- And an honorable mention of the Kona KS2NE, along with the Luna Trinity (Trid or triad) the most versital acopustic/electric of them all, yet likely the cheapest for around $250, and therefore probably the best value generally speaking, with very nice fret bar,V inlays etc.

Electronic Sound Enhancment foot units: -The Aphex Aurel Acoustic Xciter.
- A very quiet unit that has a somewhat similiar effect as a chorus but more natural sounding, giving greater bass, crispness and fullness to the sound spectrum with minimal "muddling".
A simple, solid and worthwhile investment for about a $100
I have discovered the xiter unit also as an equally enhancing effect from significant to substancial on the definitive quality of for miced vocals giving greater definition at the best settings.
- In fact when comparing it to my best chorus unit for guitar no matter what the setting I usually preferred to use the xiter only rather then with or just the chorus alone, which gives a similiar fullness quality as the chorus but with more definition and cleaner sounding - A very good unit which I highly recomment to anything I know of regardless of price.
PS A easy way to clean the dust off those wall hangers, expecially the awkward spots to reach under the strings areas is to use a new paint brush of the proper texture.
