My wife bought me this guitar for Christmas in 1973, so I have had it since it was new. It is pretty much an exact copy of a D35 Martin with the spruce top and 3 piece rosewood back. The original white trim has weathered over the years to a more ivory look. Except for 1 small scratch on the back, it looks like it just came out of the box. (don't let anyone borrow your guitar even for one set or you end up with a scratch on the back). The only difference that is obvious between this guitar and a D35 Martin is the adjustable saddle. (and the price!)

I sing classic country. As far as I'm concerned, if George, Johnny, Merle, Conway, Porter etc. didn't sing it - I don't want to hear it! So I play chords and bass runs and the odd flat picking song like "Wildwood Flower" or " Orange Blossom Special". I don't play in a band so the guitar hasn't had a lot of hard use. I have played on stage with it on and off for years and it stays in tune and has never let me down. It is not a D35 Martin but is close enough for me. It has an excellent rich full sound and anyone who plays it wants to buy it. I have had the action set up by GUITARWORKS in Calgary and have periodically set it up myself. It is straight and true with no warps and sounds better than the day it came out of the factory!

This guitar is an original Japanese made Suzuki and was pretty well flawless out of the box. Don't confuse this guitar with the crap that they are selling now that is made in China and other third world countries!

This guitar is 36 years old and looks like new so I guess you could say it was built to last! I have played it since it was new and the biggest problem I have had on stage is a broken string!

No Opinion
Never had to get it repaired. After 36 years I guess the warranty is over. Had the action set up by GUITARWORKS and they found no problems with the guitar. (tech offered to buy it from me).

Got my first guitar when I was 9 years old. I helped a guy build a house and the guitar was my pay! He couldn't afford to pay me in cash! The guitar was an old "Stella". I understand that this brand was bought out by "HARMONY" later on. If I had more money and talent, I guess I would buy a D28 MARTIN just to say that I owned a MARTIN before I died! Just like to say that I am now 62 years old and I would sell my pride and joy with a year old hard shell case for $1500 or best offer.
