This guitar has solid wood construction. Solid spruce top. Solid mahogony sides, back and neck. Rosewood fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay. Abalone soundhole and fingerboard inlays. Ping tuners. Tortoise binding, neck and entire body. Built in bridge pickup with no adjustment for tone or volume. The pickup system has no visable components. Endpin for the strap contains the output jack.
Battery is contained in the guitar,in a velcro pouch. Headstock inlay is not abalone it is another substance but still inlaid. Hardshell case is amazing.

Sound : 10
This guitar is awesome all around. The lack of on board controls is not a factor. I like to EQ outboard. Attention!!!! onboard electronics buyers, you wont be able to find a guitar with solid wood sides that sports onboard eq and volume. Manufacturers beleive that installing these components in solid wood may split and crack the sides and they are correct. If you want a guitar that transfers natural sound into amplified sound without any help or ugly external parts this is the one. This guitar has an even sound all around. Not to thin ,not to bassy. Very good trebel response however,If you need extremly fat bass, buy a jumbo. Good folk sound. Good rock sound. Good jazz sound. Even a good classical sound. Did you ever want to play Led Zeps "Babe I'm gonna leave you" , Niel youngs "Old Man","D'Jango"s Blues",Bach's "Chaconne on the same guitar? This is it!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
No flaws fit and finish. This guitar beats every make hands down,in every aspect. Matching and finish are flawless down to the last micron. Elixer strings however, are a bit flat for my taste but very durable. Remember all guitar buyers!!. Action is relative. Each player has his own needs. If it's to low it will buzz when strummed. If it's to high it is hard to pick when playing lead, got it? Set it up yourself.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Common Sense please!! Why would you gig without a backup? This guitar would withstand any amount of abuse. Strap buttons are dead solid. I will count on this guitar for a life time. It's a Tacoma, nuff said.

I could not find this guitar with these options on musicians friend's
Website. It was a special order through musicians friend. I've dealt with Tacoma and Musicians friend both, and both were very courtious. I got a price special order of 689.00 with case. Can't beat that with Martin quality. Look out Martin. Be very afraid. Can you believe it? an American company that people can easily afford, without your overhead. By the way costumers, my tech informed me that Tacoma mfg. Operates with their own milling and wood operation on premmesis. This company is the real deal!!!.By the way it took me 2.5 min. To reach the coustomer rep. at Tacoma. Hows that?

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 25 years and I collect guitars. From Martin to jackson to Kramer to Stella. I've tried everything from 30's jazz boxes to Kramer,Jackson,ESP and Ibanez. I would buy another one of these guitars in a minuite. I can't put this down. There is something about a guitar that plays and sounds as well as a a martin but cost so little. I don't have to worry about the beating this guitar will take. Thanks Tacoma and Musician's Friend for another satisfied coustimer.
