After trying out many acoustics I grabbed hold of the Tacoma DM14C and was suprize by the performance of this guitar. The Satin finish of the neck allowed movements up and down the neck with ease. This drednaught with the cutaway was very easy to play, even up to the 20th fret. I was suprized how well this guitar resonated. I put it back on the shelf and picked up a Martin D-28 and a Breedlove, and this guitar played and sounded better than both of them. This was of course unplugged. Then came the test, I plugged it into an acoustic guitar amp and I was amazed how well Fishman Plus performed. I was sold on it... I took it to our reheasals and compared it to a friends Guild D50 and it still out performed it. My buddy got discouraged and went out and got a new electronics put in that week. Overall I am more than pleased with this guitar.

I use this guitar for Praise and Worship music... The sound is full as a hard wood guitar should sound, rich clear sound. I resonates well when I create chimes. Also, it respones well when playing open tuning.

During performance this guitar held it's own. It's now my main ax. I will put my D-35 in a retirement status. I installed the strap button on my own and am very confident of it.

Great value, I would look for another if something happened to this. Unfortunately, this model has been discontinued. Like all I would like to see a more competetive price.

Solid Sitka spruce gloss top, which still looks great after more than a year of hard use. Clean and elegant satin back and side finish in solid mahogany... nothing fancy here. Ebony fingerboard and bridge; neck needs adjustment after a year+ of use, but I understand that's not unusual. Abalone rosette inlay. Excellent LRB "element" pickup, which sounds great; has simple notch, treb, bass, and volume controls.

I tried probably two dozen different makes and models of guitars ranging from dirt cheap to way out of my price range -- this one stood out from the pack as having a full, rich sound that outdid some guitars twice hte price. It's neither tinny nor overly bassy. With Elixer Polyweb Medium strings it has good volume and resonance, while retaining clarity under light or heavy strumming, or finger picking. It shines under deep, hard strumming -- I beat on this guitar at times, and it just sounds great.

Action comes slightly high from the factory, but that suits my heavier playing style. The neck is easy to move around on. Excellent build quality overall. It has a solid and durable feel. After a year it still shows every indication of being built to last.

Durability seems excellent so far, with few complaints. The finish is thick and solid, and has only retained one small ding. I've started to notice a slight sub-surface dampening / buzzing from the saddle area which I need to have checked out, and the OEM bridge has given me slight trouble.

I have no regrets with this guitar. For the price point, it's an excellent value. It's easy to play, sounds great, and it's built to last.

This is an update on my first review. When you test this guitar against others, it actually comes out good for playability and tone.
I was a bit harsh on it due to the disappointment I felt on seeing the condition it was in. I plut on a set of Curt Mangan lite mediums and it really started to sound and play a lot better to my ears and fingers.

Sound is better, and hopefully improve with age. I think this must have been unplayed since it was made. The spruce top has not opened up at all, and there is not a sign of fret wear. I am going to play hell out it for year and reassess the sound.

Never have calledon them, figuring it a lost cause from their horrible reputation. Maybe the Fender owners are better to their customers. Time will tell. I heard that they honored a warranteed repair and gave prompt, cheerful service. I hope that will become the norm.

Not bassy, but nearly bright as an all-maple guitar. Balnce is acceptable. This is meant for the road, and is loud in a room, louder than other similar style guitars in the house.

This came to me a mess from eBay dealer. Carved a new bone, threw way the bridge pins which were not for Tacoma, and adjusted the neck since it was the most bowed I have ever seen.
The finish is good, though.

It is built tpough, The hardware wil last, and the gloss top resists damage. No strap button at the heel--have to add that along with pickup. I will gig without a backup.

Never tried with Tacoma, and not now that Fender has sponged them off the earth. They had a terrible rep before and I am sure that now they are worse.

This was bought to keep the wear down on rarer guitars I want to keep at home. It will be adequate but not outstandong. I have never played one of these in good condition at a store, so have no idea how they are when properly made and adjusted from the factory.
